Title of Invention

A SOLID FUEL AND A PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF THE SAME

Abstract A process for the preperation of a boild fuel comprising the steps of heating paraffin wax (25% to 35% by wt.) and bringing it to boil adding calcium carbonates (12% to 4% by wt.) and bringing the resulting mass to boil adding washed waste phosphogypeum (50% to 65% by wt.) and saw dust (3%to 6% by wt.) to the said mass and mixing the same therewith, before allowing the water content thereof to evaporate and leave a slurry heating the slurry between 180 deg.c and 220 deg.C; adding sodium chloride (2% to 5% by wt.) to the heated slurry and mixing the same therewith; heating the resulting composition until the slurry changes to a dark brown colour, before cooling the same, the said process being carried out at atmospheatie pressure, while maintaining the pH between 6 to 0.
Full Text This Invention relates to a solid fuel and a prooaBS for the preparation of the sane.
More particularly, this invention relates to a solid fuel prepared from waste phosphoRypsum and a process for the preparation of the same.
Uaste phosphoKypsum is a by-product of the
phosphoric acid industry. It is available in
plenty in India and abroad and dumped as waste
material.
Waste phosphoftypsum is used for fllline low I and with hifth alkalinity. It is also used to seine extent for the manufacture of sypsun board for uae ae partition members and in the manufacture of bricks. It Is also used for raanufacturi ng plaster of paris. Gypsum boards and bricks msde of wai^ti? phoBphogypsiim are not found to be oconomical. Apart from thepe uses, waste phosphoRypsum remains as waste material requlrlnR plenty of land for its disposal.
It is an object of this invention to render waste phosphoRypsum useful and beneficial, as a solid

fuel, by tha procaas proposed hareln.
Tha procasB, aooordinit to this invention, for the praparatlon of a solid fuel oonprisas tha staps of haatiniE paraffin wax (25 % to 35 % by wt. ) and brlnftintt it to bol I i adding oalolum oarbonata (2 X to 4 X by wt. ) and brlnRlnR tha raaultlnit nasa to boilt addlns washad waata phosphoRypaun (50 X to 65 % by wt.) and saw dust (3 X to 6 X by wt.) to tha said mass and nix ins tha aane therawlth, bafora allowinft the water content thereof to evaporate and Iaave a s1urryiheatlns the sIurry between 160 deiK.C and 220 deit.Cf addlnK aodlum ohiorida (2 X to 5 X by wt.) to the heated slurry and mlxinfC thB same therewlthi heatinit the rasultinn oonposltion until the slurry ohanRas to a dark brown oolour, befora ooolInR tha sane, tha said process beins carried out at atnospharic pressura, whlla raalntalnlnjt the pH between 6 to 6.
Tha reaultlnit oomposltlon is oast in moulds durlnR ooolInR.

EXAMPLE
30% by wt. of paraffin wax is heated and brought to boll at 140 deft. C. 2% by wt of calcium carbonate is added and the resultlnn nass is brought to boi 1 . BB% of washed waste phosphoftypeum and 3% of saw dust are then added to the said maes and mixed therewith, before a(lowing the water content thereof to evaporate and leave a slurry.
The slurry Is then heated to 220 deg. C. and 5% of sodium ohloride (common salt) is added thereto and mixed thorouKhly therewith.
The resultine composi tion is heated untl1 the oDlour ohanses to a darh brown colour. The composition is then poured into moulds of the desired size and shape and oooted for 12 hours.
The process is carried out at atmospheric pressure and the pH is maintained at B.
The terms and expressions in this specifiostion are of description and not of 1imi tation, there being no intention in the use of such terras and

express ions of exol udinft any squi val snts of tbe features II 1 us t rated and described, hav ing refiard to the soaps and ambit of this invention.

I Claim
1.A procass for the preparation of a solid fuel coinprtBtnf; the steps of heatini! paraffin wax (25 % to 35 % by wt.) and bringing it to boilj adding oalcium carbonate (2 X to 4 K by wt. ) and brinRinjc the resulting mass to boilt adding washed waste phosphoj{ypsu» (50 X to 65 X by wt. ) and saw dust (3 X to 6 X by wt.) to the said mass and mixing the sane therewith) before altowing the water content thereof to evaporate and leave a slurryiheatlng the slurry between 180 deg.C amd 220 deg.C; adding sodium chloride (2 X to 5 X by wt. ) to the heated slurry and mixing the s«iine therewith^ heating the resulting conposition until the sIurry changes to a dark brown col our, before ooo)ing the saae, the said process being carried out at atnospheric pressure, while maintaining the pH between 6 to €.
2.A process as olaimed in Claim 1 wherein the resul ting oomposf tf on Is cast In atoulds during cooling.

3.A procoBS for tha praparation of a sol id fuel subaiantiftlly a« harein dasoribed with referanoe to, and ms i)lustrated by, the examp1e.
4.A sol Id fuel whenever manufactured by a proosss as claimed in any one of the prBcsdinft CI ainiR.
