Abstract The present invention relates to an multi crop thresher: - feeding unit (32) provided at the inlet side of the threshing unit (14); - the feeding unit is mounted on the chassis (21) of the thresher along with cleaning aspirator means; - power transmission means is provided to transmit the rotational movement of different parts of the thresher, characterized in that - a cutting unit (28) connected to threshing unit being provided for variation in air flow as per the requirement of crops - adjusting means for adjusting beater depth as per the requirement of the particular crop - the whole unit is mounted on a wheeled (29) chassis which can be transferred from one farm to the other for threshing purpose. Full Text Field of the Invention
This invention relates to an improved multi crop thresher used for threshing different crops like wheat, barley, jwar, chana, mustered, pulses, zera, menthe, groundnut, soyabean, etc.
BACKGROUND
The use of the threshers is well established in the prior art for threshing the different crops. One of the conventional threshers comprises a shaft mounted on frame and disposed in a cashing secured with the same frame. A plurality of the rods having cutters at the free ends thereof is secured in the middle of the shaft by means of a bracket secured with the shaft. A pulley is mounted on one side of the shaft for facilitating the rotation of the shaft. The pulley is connected with the prime mover by means of belt(s)! A wire mesh in the form of an arc is provided at the bottom side of the casing. A hoper is secured at one side of the casing for feeding the crop to be threshed. An out let is provided at the front end for the exit of the fodder. A fan is provided at opposite end of the outlet for separating the grains from the fodder.
Another thresher known in the prior art comprises almost all the components arranged in the same manner as mentioned herein above. Further instead-of— the rods, a drum having spikes secured on the outer surface thereof is mounted on the shaft. Additionally winnowing means are provided below the bottom wire mesh for separating the grains and chaff so as to fill the grains into the gunny begs.
As disclosed in the Indian patent no. 175344, a multi purpose threshers known in the art for threshing the different crops. This kind of the thresher has a threshing unit mounted on a frame. A pulley is mounted on one side of the main shaft for providing the rotational movement to the threshing drum of the threshing unit and also other units. A wire mesh is secured to the bottom end of the threshing unit for converting the thresher for threshing the different kind of the crops. A winnowing unit is provided below the lower end of the threshing unit for facilitating the separation of the grains from the chaff of the crop.
A thresher disclosed in the US patent no.6416405 Bl, comprises a blower unit for spreading the discharge mixture of chopped straw and chaff over a wide area. The kinetic energy obtained through the medium of a chopper or feed device located prior to the blowers is retained so as to save on drive power by making the material outlet opening of the chopper or the feed device He in the same plane as the inlet opening of the blower.
A harvester thresher disclosed in the US patent no.5833533 has a housing, a straw shaking means. A chopper drum arranged after the straw shaking means and provided with associated counter cutter for combining a threshed straw. A widthr-distribting device arranged Tinder the chopper drum for distributing the cornminuted straw. The chopper drum is arranged at a height of the discharge end of the straw shaking means. The chopper drum having a drum casing, a shaft supporting the drum casing in the housing and a
plurality of parallel supporting rings arranged at a distance from one another on the drum casing. The chopper drum further having a plurality of impact plates. A plurality of transfer strips associated with the straw shaking means and inserted in ring gaps between the supporting rings and a plurality of counter cutters, which deviate under the action of an overload and extend in the ring gaps between the supporting rings at a different locations.
Disadvantages associated with the prior art
There are disadvantages associated with the prier art. One of these disadvantages is that the conventional threshers do not produce good quality of fodder.
Another disadvantage is that conventional threshers exert heavy load on the drives by which it is run and therefore the farmers find it difficult to run the machine.
Yet another disadvantage is that the conventional threshers do not separate the chaff and grains completely and the farmers have to separate it again either by using the fan assembly of the same thresher or by using a separate fan like device and in the process a lot of grains are wasted. Still another disadvantage is that the same thresher can not be used for threshing the different crops as mentioned herein above and there fore more number of the thresher are required by one farmer.
Advantages and Objects of the Invention
Therefore the main object of the present invention is to provide an improved multi crop thresher, which can be used for threshing the different kind of crops.
Another object of the present invention is to provide an improved multi crop thresher, which does not exert more loads on the drive which runs it.
Yet another object of this invention is to provide an improved multi crop thresher, which produces good quality of fodder/chaff.
Yet another object of this invention is to provide an improved multi crop thresher, which provides the chaff/fodder and grains separately and the farmers do not have to separate it again.
The following description contains many specifics but these should not be construed as limitations on the scope of the invention, rather these specifics are the exemplification of one preferred embodiment thereof and many other variations are possible. Accordingly the scope of the invention should not be limited to the embodiment illustrated, and the alterations and variations may be treated within the spirit and scope of this invention.
Statement of the Invention
According to this invention there is provided an improved multi crop thresher for threshing the different kind of the crops comprising feeding unit provided at the inlet side of the threshing unit mounted on the chassis of the thresher, cleaning/aspirator means being provided on the other side of the threshing unit, power transmission means being provided to transmit the rotational movement to the different parts of the thresher, characterized in that a cutting unit adapted to be connected to said threshing unit being provided between the feeding unit and said threshing unit, means being provided for providing the variation in the air flow as per the requirement of the crops, adjusting means being provided for adjusting the beater depth as per the requirement of the particular crop and specific threshing means being provided for making the thresher suitable for threshing different crops.
Brief Description of the Invention
In accordance with this invention the improved multi crop thresher has a power transfer unit provided to transmit the power from the shaft of the tractor to the main shaft of the thresher through the coupling pulley. A aspirator unit comprising a plurality of fans secured with an annular axle being mounted on the main shaft such to have independent flow at the required rate. A threshing unit is provided between the aspirator unit and the cutter unit, for threshing the chopped crop fed by the cutter unit. Though some little improvements have been made on the above construction however these features may not be treated as the inventive features.
Specifically according to this invention, a cutter assembly is provided towards the feeding unit for cutting the crop in to the small pieces so to reduce the load on the cutter unit. The cutter assembly has a fly wheel having a plurality of cutters provided therewith for providing the cutting action to the crop before feeding the same to the threshing assembly. A leaver mechanism is provided with the bottom of the thresher so as to increase and decrease the beater depth as per the requirement of the crops. A mechanism is provided to give air flow of the different pressure and as per the requirement to suck the cut crop from the cutter assembly. The. mechanism comprises a plurality of pulleys of the different sizes mounted on the main shaft of the thresher. Also a typical bolted blade assembly is provided on the main shaft of the thresher so as get the straw of the required fineness. This assembly is disposed in the threshing unit of the thresher.
Detailed Description of the Invention
An improved multi crop thresher according to a preferred embodiment is
herein described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings wherein:

Referring to the drawing particularly fig. 6 and 2, the thresher of the present invention has a feeding unit having feeding chute 32 secured to the casing of

the feeding unit. Spike tooth cylinders 31 are disposed in the feeding unit for pushing the crop into the cutter assembly unit 28A, having a cutter means disposed therein. A gear box 30 is provided for rotating the spike tooth cylinders 31 at the different speeds for effective feeding of the crop into the cutter assembly. The cutter means disposed in the cutter unit, has a wheel 12 having cutters 13 ( fig. 3) secured therewith preferably at the right angle. Blades 16 are also secured at periphery of the wheel 12 for pushing the cut crop into the threshing unit of the thresher. A chute 28 (fig 6) is provided to connect the cutter assembly with the threshing/beater assembly covered by a cover 14 (fig 6). The feeding chute 32 can be fitted with the cover 14 (fig 6) of the threshing assembly for feeding the light crop directly therein. Threshing means comprising a plurality of the fly wheels having a plurality of blades provided therewith is mounted on the main shaft 1 (Fig 2) and are disposed in the threshing assembly. Further bolts of the specific designs are mounted on the main shaft 1 (Fig 2) for getting the chaff/fodder of the required sizes. Also blades 10 (Fig 1) are secured with the main shaft for threshing the ground nuts. This constitutes the threshing assembly. Next to the thresher assembly is the cleaning/aspirator unit/assembly which comprises a first fan ( not shown) and a second fan 7 disposed the chamber. The first fan is to blow the light chaff from the grains and the second fan 7 sucks the heavy threshed straw from the top of first sieve and through it away from the thresher. Both these fans/blowers are mounted on an annular shafts mounted on the main shaft 1 (Fig 2) through bearings (not shown) The bearings are provided to allow different speeds to the annular shafts (not shown) .The annular shafts are driven through the different sized pulleys 5 (Fig 4 &6) adapted to receive the drive from the power transmission system. A fly wheel 2 (Fig 4) is mounted on the other side of
the main shaft 1 (fig 2) for providing momentum and balance to the main shaft 1. A concave bottom 34 fig. 5) is provided for keeping the crop in the threshing unit. Means comprising an adjusting leaver (not shown) are provided to adjust the space between the concave bottom and the threshing means as per the requirement of the crop to be threshed. A stand is provided to feed the crop directly into the threshing unit.
The power transmission means as shown in figure 4 has a pulleys 20 and a pulleys 23 mounted on a PTO attachment shaft 19 (fig 6). Pulleys 20 are adapted to be connected to the pulleys 23 by means of the V belts, for coupling the main shaft with the PTO as pulleys 23 is mounted on the main shaft l(fig 2). Pulleys 23 are adapted to be connected to the pulleys 5 (fig 5) of the variable sizes by means of V belts, for providing the rotational movement to the first fan and second fan 7. A pulley PI (fig 4) is mounted on the main shaft l(fig 2) and is provided to give the movement to cam shaft C through a pulley P2, (Fig 4) provided to transmit the oscillatory movement to the to the sieve screen 26, (fig 6) provided to separate the grains from the heavy chaff. A pulley P3 (fig 4) is provided with the chassis of the thresher which acts like a belt tightening pulley. On the other side of the main shaft SI a pulley P4 (fig 4) is mounted for transmitting the movement to the shaft provided for mounting the cutter wheel 13 (fig 3) thereon. A pulley P6 (fig 4) is also provided near the pulley P4 fig 4) for providing the movement to the shaft S2 (fig 4) of the gear box 30 (fig 4) The out put movement of the gear box is transmitted to the cylinders of the feeding unit. All the component of the thresher are mounted on the main chassis 21 (fig 5) and are covered by the respective covers.
During the operation of the thresher the space between the concave bottom is adjusted as per the requirement of the crop. Similarly the speeds of the cylinders of the feeding unit are adjusted as per the requirement of the crop. Thus by adjusting the speeds and the space the thresher is made suitable to thresh the different kinds of the crops. Also as the cutter means are provided the load drive means has been reduced substantially.
Also the means has been provided to feed the crop directly into the threshing unit in case of the light crops.









I claim:
1. An improved multi crop thresher for threshing the different kind of the crops
comprising:
- feeding unit (32) provided at the inlet side of the threshing unit (14)
- said feeding unit mounted on the chassis (21) of the thresher,
- cleaning/aspirator means being provided on the other side of the threshing unit,
- power transmission means being provided to transmit the rotational movement to the different parts of the thresher, characterized in that
- a cutting unit (28) adapted to be connected to said threshing unit being provided between said feeding unit and said threshing unit,
- means being provided for providing the variation in the air flow as per the requirement of the crops,
- adjusting means being provided for adjusting the beater depth as per the requirement of the particular crop and specific threshing means being provided for making the thresher suitable for threshing different crops.

2. An improved multi crop thresher as claimed in claim 1, wherein said cutting unit comprises a wheel having a plurality of cutting blades secured therewith is disposed into a casing having an inlet chute and an outlet chute, for facilitating the pre-threshing of the crop.
3. An improved multi crop thresher as claimed in claim 2, wherein said cutter/blades are secured with said wheel preferably at a right angle.
4. An improved multi crop thresher as claimed in claim 1, wherein said air flow means comprises a plurality of pulleys of the different sizes mounted on the main shaft and the PTO shaft so as to provide different speeds to the fans/blowers provided in the cleaning chamber.
5. An improved multi crop thresher as claimed in claim 1, wherein said depth adjusting means comprises a leaver mechanism for adjusting the beater depth as per the need of the crops.
6. An improved multi crop thresher as claimed in claim 1, wherein said specific threshing means comprises bolted blades adapted to be secured to said main shaft so as to get the fodder of the required fineness.
