Field of the invention
The present invention relates to an improved sealed silencer cum pollution control device. More particularly, it relates to a sealed silencer cum pollution control device wherein, the exhaust gases let out from the exhaust pipe of silencer device of automobiles are thrown against a filter made up of wire gauze (different mesh sizes) with a steel wool layer inside the hemispherical sealed end cover. The kinetic energy of the exhaust gases is used to create a thrust on the wire gauze filter fitted at the hemispherical end cover.
Background and Prior art:
Most of the mufflers or silencers used in almost all types of vehicles/automobiles are designed, developed and manufactured mainly to keep the noise level at the minimum as well as to see that these exhaust gases are let out at the rear end in case of variety of automobiles, directing towards the ground at a level of 1.5 to 2 feet.
The silencers designed as on today aim only at the reduction of the sound level. These present day systems do not take into account the fact that the jet of exhaust gases, which gush out of these silencers throw out these exhaust gases towards the road / ground and even takes away along with it the dust and dirt from the road and pollutes the atmosphere heavily. Further, these obnoxious exhaust gases are directly thrown or almost thrust/sprayed heavily on the body or on the face of the people travelling along side these large numbers of automobiles.
Moreover, the increase in the number of vehicles has largely aggravated this problem in metropolitan cities. Lot of research and development work is being done to reduce the hazardous contents of the exhaust gases but very little attention is being given to the manner in which these hazardous exhaust gases are thrown to the atmosphere causing heavy pollution.

Now a days, because of the large number of new vehicles coming on the road everyday, these obnoxious harmful exhaust gases let out from thousands of automobiles on the roads, emitting highly poisonous Carbon Monoxide (Co), Nitrous Oxides (NOx), black soot and other particulate matter is causing the real concern for human health.
That various types of mufflers or silencers using baffle plates, catalytic converters, wire gauze filters and some other substrate systems converting CO to C02 and minimizing harmful CO and Oxides of Nitrogen from the exhaust gases have been designed and developed to protect people from dangerous health hazards like Bronchitis, Lungs and Throat Diseases, TB, Eye problems etc. are very much on the increase because of this vehicular pollution.
In spite of all the efforts in reducing or minimizing the pollution hazards, stilt the issue of further reducing the quantity of carbon soot and other particulate matter let out during the emission of exhaust gases needs more attention because of its health related issues.
Deficiencies of prior art
1. It does not take into account the fact that the jet of exhaust gases, which gush out of these silencers, throws out these exhaust gases towards the road/ground and even takes away along with it the dust and dirt from the road and pollute the atmosphere heavily.
2. It does not have a special provision or arrangement of trapping of un-burnt hydrocarbon particles and other particulate matter along with the black soot, leads to the increase in overall vehicular pollution.
3. The system does not help in reducing the smoke or the black soot density and thereby leads to heavy pollution.
Present invention:

Object of the invention

Detail description of the invention
The invention is now described with the help of accompanying drawing i.e. Figurel, Figure2, Figure3 and Figure4 wherein Figure l and Figure3 shows the entire construction of the device respectively.

The sealed silencer cum pollution control device mainly consists of a cylindrical pipe, having almost three times the diameter of the exhaust tail pipe of the automobiles, closed at one end with a hemispherical cap having lining of a filter. This filter consists of a steel wool layer sandwiched between wire mesh of different sizes.
Wire gauze of appropriate size is placed in the enclosure in such a way that the incoming exhaust gas will impinge on the gauze with a heavy thrust and then get diverted in the opposite direction through 180 degrees and it is let out to the atmosphere through the annular opening between the outer enclosure pipe and inner tail pipe of exhaust system. The hemispherical cap at the front end of this system helps in changing the direction of flow of exhaust gases. The exhaust gases particularly, from the light and heavy commercial vehicles, should necessarily be let out to the atmosphere at a minimum height of 10 to 12 feet above the ground. An additional care can also be taken to further separate out and filter the exhaust gases using the oil sump.
The device consists of following components:
(1) Inner Cylindrical Pipe Inner Cylindrical Pipe
(2) Outer Cylindrical Pipe Outer Cylindrical Pipe
(3) Hemispherical Metallic Caps (4(a)) Smaller Steel Wire Gauze (4(b)) Bigger Steel Wire Gauze (4(c)) Steel Wool

(5) Standard Screws
(6) Silencer Tail Pipe
(7) Mounting Flange clamping arrangement (10) Holes

Figure 1 shows a schematic diagram of a sealed silencer cum pollution control device for Heavy Commercial Vehicle and Light Commercial Vehicle consisting of two concentric cylindrical pipes wherein the outer pipe is completely closed and sealed at the other end and appropriately welded to each other by four arms. N The device includes an inner cylinder pipe (1), an outer cylindrical pipe (2), a hemispherical metallic cap (3), standard screws (5), a silencer tail pipe (6), a mounting flange clamping arrangement (7) and a plurality of holes (10).
The inner cylindrical pipe (1) is open at both the ends and has a mounting flange (7), which is used to connect the device to the exhaust tail pipe (6) of an engine of the vehicle. The outer cylindrical pipe (2) is completely closed and sealed on the outer side by a hemispherical metallic cap (3), which actually helps in totally reversing and diverting the exhaust gases released from the vehicle through 180 degrees i.e. exactly in the opposite direction of the usual flow of exhaust gases. The open end of the outer cylindrical pipe is connected to the inner cylindrical pipe through four arms, which is ultimately connected to the exhaust tail pipe. The hemispherical metallic cap (3) has an appropriate curvature and thickness and is connected to the outer cylindrical pipe by using the Standard screws (5) of suitable size, which facilitates occasional cleaning of the device. Further, the hemispherical metallic cap (3) enables in completely blocking the usual flow of the exhaust gases and reversing the same in the opposite direction, which otherwise cause dangerous and harmful effects of pollution. The hemispherical metallic cap (3) also helps in minimising the particulate matter and carbon soot from the exhaust gases because of the thrust effect and reversal of the same. The three layer filter consists of a smaller steel wire gauze (4a), a bigger steel wire gauze (4b) and a steel wool (4c). The steel wool (4c) is sandwiched and suitably layered with appropriate thickness between the two wire gauzes. This filter helps to trap major amount of carbon soot along with un-burnt fuel and other particulate matter, which is otherwise released from the exhaust of the vehicle into the atmosphere and causes heavy pollution. Figure 2 shows a side view of the device of Figure 1.

Figure 3 shows a schematic diagram of an embodiment a sealed silencer cum pollution control device for motorcycle consisting of two concentric cylindrical pipes wherein the outer pipe is completely closed and sealed at the other end and appropriately welded to each other by four arms. The inner cylindrical pipe (1) is open at both the ends and is used to connect the device to the exhaust tail pipe (6) of the vehicle. Holes (10) of suitable size are drilled on the lower half of the outer cylindrical pipe, which further facilitates the releasing of the exhaust gases to the atmosphere. Further, this hemispherical metallic cap uniquely helps in completely blocking the usual flow of the exhaust gases and reversing the same in the opposite direction, which otherwise cause dangerous and harmful effects of pollution. It also helps in minimising the particulate matter and carbon soot from the exhaust gases because of the thrust effect and reversal of the same. The three layer filter consists of Smaller Steel Wire Gauze (4a), Bigger Steel Wire Gauze (4b) and a Steel Wool (4c). The Steel wool is sandwiched and suitably layered with appropriate thickness between the two wire gauzes. The device helps to trap major amount of carbon soot along with un-burnt fuel and other particulate matter, which is otherwise released from the exhaust of the vehicle into the atmosphere and causes heavy pollution. A clamping arrangement (7) is welded on the outer cylinder. This can position and clamp the device on to the existing silencer body of the two wheeler by means of bolts and nuts of suitable size. Figure 4 shows a side view of the device shown in Figure 3
