Title of Invention

"AN APPARATUS FOR TREATMENT OF GREEN BAMBOO"

Abstract This invention relates to an apparatus for treatment of green bamboo comprising a distribution head (D) having a plurality of connectors (J) for connection to respective bamboo holders (K), each of said holders (K) having a holder head (L) for holding one end of a bamboo, said distribution head (D) connected to a vacuum head so that the treatment of the bamboo held to the bamboo holders (K) is effected under vacuum.
Full Text OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
An object of this invention is to propose an apparatus for treatment of green bamboo.
Another object of this invention is to propose an apparatus for treatment of green bamboo, which is quick and effective.
DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION
According to this invention there is provided an apparatus for treatment of green bamboo comprising a distribution head (D) having a plurality of connectors (J) for connection to respective bamboo holders (K), each of said holders (K) having a holder head (L) for holding one end of a bamboo, said distribution head (D) connected to a vacuum head so that the treatment of the bamboo held to the bamboo holders (K) is effected under vacuum.
The bamboo holder comprise a vacuum controlling valve connected to a reducer, said holder head connected to a reducer, a hose pipe adapted to be connected to one end of said head.
The distribution head is connected to the vacuum pump through a soap and preservative collection unit.
DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION WITH REFERENCE TO ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS
Further objects and advantages of this invention will be more apparent from the ensuing description when read in conjunction with the accompanying drawings and wherein:-Fig. 1 illustrates the apparatus of the present invention.
Referring to fig. 1 the apparatus comprises a vacuum pump. A connected to a U type sap and preservative collection unit B which collects the sap and prevents it from entry into the vacuum pump. The U type unit is connected to a distributor head D through a vacuum gauge C.
Distributor head D has a plurality of connectors J spaced from each other, each connector having its respective bamboo holder K.
Each bamboo holder K comprises a vacuum controlling valve E connected to a reducer G through a valve F. Reducer G is held to a bamboo holder head L. One end of hose pipe H is adapted to be snuggly held to one end of holder head L, the opposite end adapted to be held to an end of a green bamboo to be treated.
Distribution head D has an extension point I adapted to be held to similar units.
The green bamboos of 3-4 years of age with branches are attached to the apparatus sealed tightly. One end is dipped in the preservative. Bamboo is attached with the apparatus through hosepipe H. Hosepipe H is connected to the vacuum pump A through vacuum-controlling valve E. Bamboo of same diameter or different diameters may be connected tightly and then unit may be operated by operating vacuum pump. The suction created is readable on vacuum gauge. EXAMPLE
3-4 years bamboos were freshly felled and cut into 6-8 feet length, outer and inner diameter were measured and one end was dipped in the borax: boric acid (4%) solution, and other end was connected with the unit. It was tightly fitted with the apparatus. Vacuum pump A was started; a vacuum of 350-390 mm was achieved. The process continued upto 2.5 hrs. After that vacuum pump A was closed and unit was left as such for another 1A hour. The unit was detached and sap collected in the upper part B was measured and solvent/preservative remained in each preservative containing tank was measured. Bamboo left for one week for diffusion of preservative. Sample prepared at three places of bamboo i.e. top, middle and bottom and analysed for retention of preservative.
Different bamboo species were treated with the process to ensure completion of preservation. It was observed that all the bamboo species were fully treated in two and a half hours and penetration was adequate at all the places of bamboo tested for quantitative estimation of Borax: Boric acid. The notable point was that same species exhibited same retention irrespective of treatment, which shows completion of process.

WE CLAIM:
