Full Text | FIELD OF INVENTION This invention relates to a process for preparation of citrus based slurry use to control insects, pest in agriculture and organic farming. PRIOR ART Citrus based formulation for use as manure, insecticides and pesticides are not hitherto known. OBJECTS OP THE INVENTION An object of this invention is to propose a process for preparation of citrus based slurry use to control insects, pest in agriculture and organic farming. ' Another object of this invention is to propose a process for preparation of citrus based slurry use to control insects, pest in agriculture and organic farming which is biodegradable. Still another object of this invention is to propose a process for preparation of citrus based slurry use to control insects, pest in agriculture and organic farming which has no residue problem. Yet another object of this invention is to propose a process for preparation of citrus based slurry use to control insects, pest in agriculture and organic farming which is cost effective. A further object of this invention is to propose a process for preparation of citrus based slurry use to control insects, pest in agriculture and organic farming which is useful under various conditions i.e. foliar sprays. STATEMENT OF INVENTION According to this invention there is provided a process for preparation of citrus based slurry use to control insects, pest in agriculture and organic farming comprising of:- i) Preparing citrus slurry by air drying citrus waste including peel, seed left over pulp after extracting juice from selected fruits, again drying at 30°C for 12 hours, grindings, sieving through O-size mesh, to obtain citrus powder, ii) Said powder is mixed with petroleum ether in the ratio of 1:20 and subjected the same to heating at 40-65°C in soxhlet apparatus, recycling the condensed vapours, continuing heating for 15 to 25 cycles obtaining extract containing citrus fruits extract and petroleum ether, subjecting the extract to flash evaporation under vacuum at 25-30°C to obtain the slurry, iii) Optionally converting said slurry into Emulsifiable Concentrate, dust or organic manure form. DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION According to this invention, citrus formulations are based on citrus fruits like lemon, orange, kinnow, galgal etc. The first step of the process comprises extracting the juice from the selected fruit and collecting waste which includes peel, seeds and left over pulp. The waste thus obtained is dried in shade for 36 hours and then dried in a drier/oven equipped with fans, at 30°C for 12 hours. The dried waste material is then grinded in a mixer/grinder and sieved using O-size mesh to obtain fine powder. The active constituents of the grinded powder thus obtained are isolated by soxhlet apparatus. For this purpose the grinded powder is taken in a timble tube, which is placed in the extractor of the apparatus. Petroleum ether is placed in the conical flask of the apparatus and the flask is heated at 40-55°C by heating mantle. The condensed vapours overflow from the top of timble tube and get recycled into flask. The heating is continued till 15 to 25 recycles. The extract thus obtained in conical flask contains citrus fruit extract and petroleum ether. The extract is then subjected to evaporation under vacuum in flash evaporator at 25-30°C. The petroleum ether gets evaporated and left over obtained is slurry containing active material. The slurry is mixed with petroleum ether, taking slurry and petroleum ether in the ratio of 1:20. The mixture is stirred with a magnetic stirrer and impregnated with inert material like kalonite, lime powder, tale powder or ash obtained by burning walnut skull, combined mixture of slurry and petroleum ether being in 1:1 (v/w) ratio with inert material. The mixture is then stirred with Teflon coated magnetic stirrer and to this mixture adhesive preferably teepol (0.5%) is added taking 1 ml of adhesive for every 200ml of the mixture. The mixture is dried in shade at room temperature in vapour chamber for about 12 hours and grinded and sieved with 0-size mesh, obtaining the formulation in form of dust. For preparation of 50% Emulsifier Concentrate (50EC), slurry is mixed with petroleum ether and 5% Triton X-100 as emulsifier and shaken in agitator, taking for every 50ml of slurry, 45ml of petroleum ether and 5ml of Triton X-100. For preparation of biocompost, the citrus waste material is dried grinded, mixed with cow dung and soil, taking citrus waste, cow dung and soil in the ration of 8:1:1 by weight and poured in a pit. The pit is covered with 30cm thick layer of the mixture of soil and cow dung is taken in 1:1 ratio by weight. Fermentation is allowed for a period of 9-12 months. The invention will now be illustrated with a working example which is intended to illustrate the working of invention and is not intended to be taken restrictively to imply any limitation. EXAMPLE-I 1 Kg of slurry of citrus waste as obtained by the process decribed herein above, is mixed with 0.5 litre of petroleum ether and 1 Kg of kalomite and 5 ml of teepol to obtain the formulation in the form of dust. EXAMPLE-II For preparation of Emulsifiable concentrate (EC), 500 ml of slurry is mixed with 450 ml of petroleum ether and 50 ml of Triton-X, and mixture is shaken in an agitator, for 6 hours at room temperature, obtaining EC. EXAMPLE-III For preparation of organic manure, 80 Kg of citrus waste is mixed with 10 Kg of cow dung and 10 Kg of soil and the mixture is poured in a pit and covered with a 30 cm thick layer of the mixture of cow dung and soil. The fermentation is carried out for a period of 9 months. 45 to 50 Kg of organic manure is thus obtained. The manure is crushed and packed. Toxicity studies were conducted using rodents as experimental animals. Feeding of food mixture containing upto 10% of the citrus formulation of the present invention, showed no toxicity. The comparison was made on the bio-efficacy of the citrus formulation of the present invention as compared to the effect of synthetic insecticides, on the termite attack on wheat. The data are presented in Tabte-I. Effect of organic manure based on citrus formulation was also compared with standard organic manure, on potato pests and tuber yields. The results obtained are presented in Table-2. Table 1 Effect of citrus based formulations ia comparison to synthetic insecticides and other botanicals on termites attack in wheat * (Table Removed) * Conducted at Rani Sidhpur, "= after mixing with sand, b& c= 5%, KPD= Citrus peel dust KPDEMDmms pulp powder dust Values in parenthesis are transformed values Conclusion :- Citrus peel and pulp dusts and synthetic insecticides and other known botanicals formulations were applied in the wheat fields to compare their effect in controlling termite. It can be inferred from the data KPD formulation were statistical at par with chlorpyriphos ( Synthetic insecticide) in controlling the termite in wheat fields. (Table Removed)Conclusion:- Effect of citrus based organic manure on potato pest incidence and yield was compared with know organic manures (Vikas and Vipul). The data reveled that COM (citrus organic manure) was Statistically at par with the known. It is to be noted that the present invention is susceptible to modifications, changes and adaptations by those skilled in the art.
