Abstract This invention relates to a process for conversion of polyethylene to sheets comprising steps of preparing a base layer comprising of polythenes laid one over another, positioning other polyethenes on the base layer overlapping each other, covering the base layer of the polyethenes thus obtained with an insulating material Teflon followed by hot pressing at a temperature of 100-150°C and a pressure of 2-5 Kgs/Cm2 for 10-20 minutes to fuse the layers together.
Full Text FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention relates to a recycling process for conversion of polyethylene to sheets, which is particularly used to make ladies handbags, purse and other fashion accessories without limiting use of the invention to the same.
PRIOR ART
Traditionally materials like Jute, leather and Foam are known to be used for the manufacture of several kinds of bags and fashion accessories. However, the known materials have several distinct disadvantages as listed below:-
JUTE:- It is not water proof, rough, expensive, relatively heavy in weight, non-durable and lacks colour fastness. Further, it requires maintenance and higher initial cost. Another disadvantage associated with Jute is that, it can't generate plurality of patterns. Further, all patterns/colours etc have to be printed or dyed on to it.
LEATHER:- It is expensive, non-washable and not eco-friendly. It is less durable and requires skin of animals and maintenance. Further, production of leather itself is a highly polluting process . Bags manufactured using leather are available in limited range of colours. Another disadvantage is that, heigh ts in large sizes bags are not available and this leads to either joints in the product or limited sizes. Further, heights are available only on odd shapes which leads to higher wastage and contributes to higher costs.FOAM OR ARTIFICIAL LEATHER;- It is not a recycled product, nor it is durable and eco-friendly. Further, it is having short life span and is a cheaper substitute of leather. Another disadvantage is that, foam gets damaged with washing.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
An object of the present invention is to propose a recycling process for conversion of polyethylene to sheets.
Another object of the present invention is to propose a recycling process for conversion of polyethylene to sheets which overcomes disadvantages of the prior art.
STATEMENT OF INVENTION
According to this invention there is provided a process for conversion of polyethylene to sheets comprising steps of:-
a) preparing a base layer comprising of polythenes laid one over another,
b) positioning other polyethenes on the base layer overlapping each other,
c) covering the base layer of the polyethenes thus obtained with an insulating material Teflon followed by hot pressing at a temperature of 100-150°C and a pressure of 2-5 Kgs/Cm2 for 10-20 minutes to fuse the layers together.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
For the manufacture of sheet of the present invention, polybags having different colours and density are collected from garbage disposal site. This makes utilization of waste polybags which do not degrade with time and create an environmental hazard
At least three such layers of polyethenes are placed one over the other to make a base layer, on which other polyethenes are placed overlapping each other. This is followed by covering the whole sheet of polyethenes by an insulating material such as a Teflon sheet Thereafter, hot pressing is done on the sheet using a fusing machine at a temperature of 100-150°C and a pressure of 2-5 Kg/Cm2 for 10-20 minutes depending upon the thickness and texture of the sheet required to make various types of carry bags.
ADVANTAGES OF THE INVENTION
The resultant sheet is water proof, cost effective, light, washable, stain proof, eco-friendly and durable. Further, manufacture of sheet will generate employment, which involves low initial cost, less requirement of electricity and recycling of polybags.
Carry bags made out of the sheet are maintenance free and available in a plurality of patterns with a designer look.
It is to be noted that the present invention is susceptible to modifications, adaptations and changes by those skilled in the art. Such variant embodiments employing the concepts and features of this invention are intended to be within the scope of the present invention, which is further set forth under the following claims: -










WE CLAIM;
1. A process for conversion of polyethylene to sheets comprising steps
of:-
a) preparing a base layer comprising of polythenes laid one over another,
b) positioning other polyethenes on the base layer overlapping each other,
c) covering the base layer of the polyethenes thus obtained with an insulating material Teflon followed by hot pressing at a temperature of 100-150°C and a pressure of 2-5 Kgs/Cm2 for 10-20 minutes to fuse the layers together.

2. A process as claimed in claim 1 wherein the base layer comprising of atleast three polyethenes.
3. A process for conversion of polyethylene to sheets substantially as herein described.
