Field of invention
This invention relates to a skin peeling machine for peeling the skin of garlic from the cloves. Specifically this invention relates to a skin peeling machine for peeling the skin from the garlic and the like cloves.
Background of invention
There are various kinds of manual as well as motor operated skin peeling devices/tools/knifes for peelings off the skin from the garlic are known in the art.
One of the conventional garlic peeling devices developed by MARK Enterprises (India), comprises a peeling chambers the weight of machine is 125 Kg having a production capacity is 300-350 Kg per hour and feeding capacity is 25-30 Kg, body made of stainless steel, cost is one lacks
Another garlic skin peeling device developed by LEHUI, china, comprises one fixed hoppers, two outlets for the exit of peeled clove und membrane respectively. A motor is provided to rotate a shaft through a pulley and bevel gear so as to rotate a vertical shaft having blade secured therewith and disposed the peeling chamber for peeling the skin. A blower is provided for supplying the compressed air for removing the moisture and peeled of skin of the garlic.
Yet another conventional high efficiency garlic peeling devices developed by Mascot Tiger Corporation, K Enterprises, comprises one fixed hoppers, two outlets for peeled off clove and membrane each. One Blower is provided for compressed air, which removes the moisture and peeled off skin of the garlic.
A device disclosed in US patent no. 5158011, comprises a store tank, a drying funnel, a membrane peeling cylinder, a hot air tube connecled with a blower and a push device combined together. The store tank is mounted on the drying funnel, under which the

membrane peeling cylinder is connected, and the push device is set partly in the drying funnel and partly in the membrane peeling cylinder. The hot air tube is connected with the double-layered wall of the drying funnel to send hot air through an aperture between the double-layered walls in the funnel to dry the garlic bulbs coming down from the store tank. Then dried garlic bulbs are loosened by the push device to fall down in the membrane peeling cylinder to have their membranes peeled off by helical air current caused by sent-in compressed air and those membranes peeled off are blown out of an exhaust tube.
Another garlic peeling device disclosed in US patent No. 4,998,465, comprises feeder means for providing a continuous supply of cloves to a plurality of different outlets; a continuous belt driven along a closed path having an upper surface located immediately adjacent the outlets, said belt including a large number of openings each of which is aligned with a feeder means outlet as the belt moves along the path; individual cup means positioned within the belt openings, each having an upwardly directed open top when located on the belt upper surface; a plate located above the belt upper surface and in spaced generally parallel relation thereto, said plate having a plurality of openings each of which is brought into alignment with cup means as the belt moves there past; nozzle means inserted into each plate opening and actuatable for directing pressurized air into the cup means and onto cloves contained therein; and means for moving air along and outwardly of the space between the belt upper surface and the facing plate surface to remove peeled clove outer skins.
Yet another device disclosed in US patent No. 4768429 comprises a rotary attachment is disposed within the bowl of a food processing appliance in engagement with the drive shaft of the appliance and has a horizontal rotating disk with an abrasive upper surface which quickly removes the dry and brittle outer covering of garlic cloves or similar food ingredients. The apparatus speeds and simplifies peeling operations and minimizes problems with the volatile substances that may be released during peeling of such food ingredients.

Still another device disclosed in US patent No. 5065672 Motor driven apparatus for peeling garlic or similar food products has a housing forming a processing chamber and an abrasive rotary disk in the chamber which abrades the skin or husk from the product. A movable gate partially obstructs a discharge slot at the side of the chamber. The gate has a lowered position at which the unobstructed region of the slot is large enough to enable continuous ejection of peelings but too small to allow escape of the product. The gate is raised at the end of each peeling operation enabling centrifugal ejection of the product by the rotary motion of the disk. Manual unloading and separation of the peelings and product is unnecessary thereby providing for fast, high throughput operations. The apparatus may be an accessory, which engages on a food processor base.
Another device disclosed in Chinese patent no. CN1399922A comprise a complete set of garlic peeling machine formed from a reciprocating grinding dry peeling machine and a blade wheel rotary liquid peeling machine The dry peeling machine is formed from blowing device reducing device grinding disk device and grinding device and the liquid peeling machine is formed from reducer device blade wheel device blade wheel shell device and water circulating device Said dry peeling machine can be used for peeling garlic and the liquid peeling machine is used for processing garlic which is hard of peeling Said invention is simple in structure and low in production cost
Yet another device disclosed in US patent No. 5996483 comprises a housing having an open top end and a cylindrical inner wall surface on which four ribs having respective surfaces are formed, and a lid for closing the housing top end. The peeler includes a central beater surrounded by the wall surface and supported for rotation about an axis. A handle is provided for rotating the beater so the garlic and/or peanut pieces strike the rib surfaces at a steep angle, whereby the skin of the garlic and/or peanut pieces is cracked open through continued movement by the beater for subsequent peeling.
Still.another device disclosed in Korean palent No. KR9302620 comprises a hopper, a cylinder case at the inside of which an inner film such as sponge is coated, first and second circular plates connected by a shaft at the inside of the cylinder case, a number of

small gears coupled to an inner gear between the circular plates, a connecting member with a steel core connected to the small gear on the front side of the second circular plate, and a peeling member forming a screw line holded on the front side of the steel core.
Another device disclosed in Korean patent No. KR8700989 comprises a pair of high speed and low speed rollers separate the garlic Into pieces. A compressed air of 8-10 kg/cm2 from a nozzle peels the garlic in a tank for two to three minutes. The separated peels are blown out by compressed air of 4-5kg/cm2 after opening the tank cover. A separating process, a peeling process, a peel removing process, and garlic discharging process are performed sequentially by rotating the four tanks on the supporting plate during two to three minutes.
Yet another device disclosed in US patent No. 5,158,011 comprises a store tank, a drying funnel, and a membrane peeling cylinder, a hot air tube connected with a blower and a push device combined together. The store tank is mounted on the drying funnel, under which the membrane peeling cylinder is connected, and the push device is set partly in the drying funnel and partly in the membrane peeling cylinder. The hot air tube is connected with the double-layered wall of the drying funnel to send hot air through an aperture between the double-layered walls in the funnel to dry the garlic bulbs coming down from the store tank. Then dried garlic bulbs are loosened by the push device to fall down in the membrane peeling cylinder to have their membranes peeled off by helical air current caused by sent-in compressed air and those membranes peeled off are blown out of an exhaust tube.
Disadvantages of the prior art
There are disadvantages associated with conventional devices. One of the main disadvantages is that the some of conventional garlic peeling machines are complex in construction and heavy in weight.
Another disadvantage is that the some of the conventional devicecan cause accident during the process of the skin removal manually.

Yet another disadvantage is that the some of the conventional garlic peeling devices are complicated in construction and therefore the maintenance thereof is costly. Also skilled people are required to maintain the same.
Another disadvantage is that the conventional garlic peeling devices is that the machines do not produce better quality of the peeled off garlic at the large amount.
Yet another disadvantage is that the blades of the conventional garlic peeling devices are not long lasting and need replacement after a particular time of use.
Another disadvantage is that conventional garlic peeling devices require much more labour to operate the machine.
Object and advantages of the present invention
Therefore the main object the present invention is to provide a skin peeling machine which obviates the disadvantages associated with the conventional devices.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a skin peeling machine which is simple in constructions and maintenance thereof is negligible and affordable to the user.
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a skin peeling machine which is useful to produce a better quality and large quantity of production of peeled off garlic
Still another object of the present invention is to provide skin peeling machine which can be operated with the help of electricity.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a skin peeling machine which is low in cost and easy in operation.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a skin peeling machine which is low in cost and easy in operation.
The following description contains many specifics but these should not be construed as limitations on the scope of the invention. These specifics are to be treated as an exemplification of one preferred embodiment of the machine, and many other variations are possible. Therefore the scope of the invention should not be limited to the embodiment illustrated, and the alterations and variations may be treated within the spirit and scope of this invention.
Statement of the Invention
According to the present invention there is provided a skin peeling machine comprising a peeling chamber mounted on a main frame, a shaft having peeling knives provided therewith being disposed in said chamber such that to be rotated by a motor mounted on said main frame of the machine, a first shaft adapted to be rotated by said motor being provided for rotating a second shaft and a third shaft adapted to be connected with the blowers provided to supply the compressed air into the peeling chamber for de-moisturising the garlic and removing the peeled off skin from the peeling chamber,, a hopper being mounted on said peeling chamber for storing the garlic to be supplied to said peeling chamber.
Brief description of invention
In accordance with this invention a skin peeling machine has a peeling chamber mounted on a main frame. A shaft having a plurality of blade mounted thereon is disposed into the peeling chamber for peeling the skin from the garlic cloves/bulbs. The lower end of the vertical shaft is connected to a motor-mounted on the main frame of the machine through a bevel gear so as receive the drive form the motor, A first shaft having a plurality of

pulleys secured therewith is provided such that to drive a second and third shafts being mounted on the main frame with the help of the respective belts. The second and third shafts are connected with the blowers provided to supply the compressed air into the peeling chamber for demoisturising the garlic cloves/bulbs and to remove the peeled off skin from the peeling chamber. A hopper is mounted on the peeling chamber for storing the garlic and/or similar cloves/bulbs to be supplied to the peeling chamber.
Detailed Description regarding the Present Invention
A skin peeling machine for peeling the skin from the garlic and/or similar cloves/bulbs according to a preferred embodiment is herein described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings wherein;

Referring to the drawings particularly Fig land 2, the.skin peeling machine for peeling the skin from the garlic cloves/bulbs has a peeling chamber (J) mounted on a main frame (2) of the machine. A shaft (3) having a plurality of blade (4) (see Fig. 4 & 5) secured therewith through out the length of the shaft (3) is disposed into the peeling chamber (1) of the machine for peeling the skin from the garlic cloves/bulbs. Similarly serrations (1 A) are provided with the inner surface of the peeling chamber (1) for facilitating the skin peeling action of the machine. Preferably the blades (4) are secured with the shaft (3) in a staggered relationship. The lower end of the vertical,shaft (3) is connected to a motor (5) mounted on the main frame (2) of the machine through a bevel gear (6) which is connected to another bevel gear (6a) secured with the first shaft (7) so as to provide the rotary motion to the vertical shaft (3). The first shaft (7) having a plurality of big pulleys (8 & 9) mounted thereon is supported on the main frame (2) of the machine such that to

drive a second and third shaft (10 and 11) provided to transmit the rotary motion to the fans of the big and small blowers (12 and 13) respectively with the help of the respective belts (14 and 15) and pulleys (16 and 17). The second and third shafts (10 and 11) are supported on the main frame (2) by means of the respective bearing assemblies (18) secured therewith. The blowers (12 and 13) are provided to supply the compressed air in the peeling chamber for de-moisturising the garlic cloves/bulbs and to remove the peeled off skin from the peeling chamber (1). A hopper (19) is mounted at the top of the peeling chamber (1) for storing the garlic and/or similar cloves/bulbs to be supplied to the peeling chamber (1) during the operation of the machine. An opening (20) (see fig. 3)adapted to be connected to the lower end of a chimney (21) is provided at one side of the peeling chamber for facilitating the exit of the skin peeled off from the-garlic/cloves, through the chimney (21), during the operation of the machine. An exit window (22) is provided at the other side of the chimney (21) for the exit of the peeled off cloves/garlic bulbs. The outlet of the blower (12) is connected to the lower end of the chimney (21) for supplying the compressed air therein. The outlet of the blower'(13) is connected with lower end of the hopper (19) to supply the air.
During the operation of the device the garlic of the different sizes are stored in the hopper and the machine is switched on. The garlic cloves/bulbs are supplied into the peeling chamber and passes through the rotating shaft having the blades secured therewith. Till the time the garlic bulbs reaches to the lower end of the peeling chamber these are hit by the blades and the skin is peeled off. Similarly when the garlic bulbs come in the contact with the serrated walls of the peeling chamber the skin is pefeled off. This process of hitting is repeated again and again and thus the skin is peeled off from the garlic.

A skin peeling machine comprising a peeling chamber mounted on a main frame, a shaft having peeling knives provided therewith being disposed in said chamber such that to be rotated by a motor mounted on said main frame of the machine, a first shaft adapted to be rotated by said motor being provided for rotating a second shaft and a third shaft adapted to be connected with the blowers provided to supply the compressed air into the peeling chamber for de-moisturising the garlic and removing the peeled off skin from the peeling chamber, a hopper being mounted on said peeling chamber for storing the garlic to be supplied to said peeling chamber.
2. A skin peeling machine as claimed In claim 1 wherein said hopper has serrations provided at the inner surface thereof for facilitating skin peeling action,,is mounted on the of the main frame.
3. A skin peeling machine as claimed in claim 1 wherein said blades are secured in a staggered relationship with each other.
4. A skin peeling machine as claimed in claim 1 wherein said shaft having peeling knives secured therewith has a bevel gear secured therewith at the lower end thereof such that to receive the drive from a bevel gear secured near the other end of the main shaft.
5. A skin peeling machine as claimed in claim 1 wherein said main shaft has a plurality of pulleys secured therewith so as to transmit the rotational movement received from the motor to the big and smull blowers through the second and third shafts respectively.
6. A skin peeling machine as claimed in claim 1 wherein said motor is also mounted on the top of the mail frame.
7. A skin peeling machine as claimed in claim 1 wherein the output of said small blower is connected with the inlet end of said hopper.

8. A skin peeling machine as claimed in claim 1 wherein the output of said big
blower is connected with the bottom end of the outlet provided for the exit of the
peeled off skin.
9. A skin peeling machine as claimed in claim 1 wherein an outlet is provided near
the bottom end of said skin outlet for the removal of the peeled garlic
cloves/bulbs.
10. A skin peeling device substantially as herein described and illustrated in the
accompanying drawings.
