Skin care is an important part of personal care. Skin care products includes and goes beyond the simple aspect of personal grooming. A healthy skin is more vaKiabte than just appearance. It is an indicator of genuine good health, skin care is very important for all of us. Being the mirror, the barometer of an individual's health, skin is the clue to one's Ayurvedic constitution. This can be understood by the types of skin that one has. For example, if vata is predominant the skin of a person is dry, rough, cold, thin with fine pores and wrinkled. In case of pitta constitution, the skin is delicate, fair and red toned with freckles, moles or acne and burns easily. If the constitution is of kapha dosha the skin of a person is oily, smooth, moist and thick with a tendency towards large pores. If the skin is not cared properly and neglected it suffers from premature aging, becomes dull and blemished. Regular consumption of milk, honey and yogurt are good nourishment for skin and prevents premature aging.

The invention also relates to a process for the preparation of the formulation but is not specific to facial applications.
Reference may be made to US patent no. 6,673,377, which improves breast firmness, enlargement, wrinkle removal and cleansing of the skin, derived from Pueraria mirifica, Butea superba and/or Mucuna collettii. It is claimed to be very good skin conditioner. One of the findings disclosed as to phytoestrogen, is the physiological activity upon application to the skin. While estrogen was applied to the skin of menopaysal females, who are generally in rapid progression of dermal aging, it was observed that their skin was inhibited from progressing into senility. After 6 months of the application of estrogen, the skin noticeably became resilient with a 60% improvement in the depth of wrinkles. This effect was attributed to an increase in the number of dermal collagen fibers. Composing the hypoderm, elastin tissues form a network, along with collagen tissues, in the skin. Elastase, a protease that hydrolyses elastin, is known to play an important role in the anti-inflammatory mechanism. This enzyme attacks all proteins, which act to maintain the backbone and shape of the connective tissues, such as elastin, collagen, proteoglycan and keratin, non-selectively as well as indiscriminately. Collagenase is known to exert its catalytic action on a limited number of substrates (Wiedow, O., Schroder, J. M., E. J. Biol. Chem. 265(25), 14791 (1990)). Exposure to UV-A makes the skin suffer repeatedly from mild inflammation in response of the catalytic action of elastase on reticular tissues and brings about damage in elastin and collagen fibers, finally making the skin sag (Motoyoshi, K., Tacenouch, M., Proceedings of the 19.sup.th IFSCC Congress Sydney 22-25, October 1996). Beginning in their forties, people generally have their skin rapidly decrease in resilience. From a biochemical point, as people grow older, elastase is increasingly active in the body,
which results in destroying or aggregating a part of the elastin fibers and losing of collagen fibers (Bissett, D. L., Photochem. Photobiol., 1987, 46, 367-378). Extensive research has been directed to the finding of inhibitory materials against elastase activity. The findings reveal that extracts derived from Pueraria mirifica, Butea superba and Mucuna collettii are not high in anti-oxidation activity, but highly inhibitory against the activity of elastase and that they have various applications in the cosmetic, pharmaceutical, and food industry. The pulverized powder derived from any part/or paints of the plant lmmersed in water a low alcohol with one or more hydroxyl groups, or a mixture thereof, and optionally drying the solution in a spray-drying, a freeze-drying and/or a vacuum-drying manner; and using the extract alone as a sole material or combining the extract with a base, a diluent, an additive, a dye, an active agent, a surfactant, a wetting agent, an anti-oxidant and/or other additives is used suitably. Advantageously, the extract is further added with inorganic calcium or organic calcium. The use of these chemical/chemicals may remain in the medium causing side effects in the long run and is not highly anti-oxidative.
The above referred US patent no. 6,673,377 reveals the product derived from Pueraria mirifica, Butea superba and/or Mucuna collettii as extract containing isoflavones, which improves breast firmness, enlargement, and wrinkle removal by cleansing of the skin. It is claimed to be very good skin conditioner as the phytoestrogen upon application to the skin improves dermal senility upto 60% in six months. Exposure to UV rays catalyses elastase (a elastin attacking enzyme) making skin sag. Phytoestrogen is not highly anti-oxidative but is highly inhibitory against elastase. The pulverized powder derived from any part/or parts of the plant immersed in water a low alcohol with one or more hydroxyl groups, and drying the solution either by spray-drying, freeze-drying and/or vacuum-drying and using the extract alone or admixture with a base, a diluent, an additive, a dye, an active agent, a surfactant, a wetting agent, an anti-oxidant and/or other additives is used suitably. The extract is further added with inorganic calcium or organic calcium.
