Title of Invention	NEW GMAW/CO2 WELDING PROCESS IMPROVEMENT FOR BETTER WELD QUALITY AND MECHANICAL STRENGTH
Abstract	This new GMAW process/invention increases the life of the structures and improves the weld quality by using the combination of CO2 & Ar Mixtures (Ar + CO2 +02) for welding (in a single joint) with the help of 'V' Connector. This results in nearly flat (less convex) geometry with nil under cuts and spatters. Such defects are common in conventional GMAW process (with CO2) except for desirable deep root weld penetration. This new system comprises of a 'V' Connector, mechanical control valves, non-return valves and copper tubing integrated with GMAW process system. The weld specimens were made as per ANSI/AWS -01.1. Welding Experiments were carried out with this new process using two types of gases (CO2 -initial layers, Ar+ CO2 +02 -final layers).The weld beads obtained while using this new system/invention is nearly flat and free from under cuts and spatters, thus resulting in enhanced weld quality. The radiography tests revealed that the weld joints are very good (with deep penetration) and found acceptable. The Mechanical test results (i.e.,) Ultimate Tensile Strength & Yield strength were found to be in the higher side, which are quite favourable.Since this new GMAW process / invention with the help of 'V' Connector has been done for the first time, there is a need to protect the Intellectual Property Rights of this process/invention through a patent.Hence we are submitting our application for patenting of this invention.
