Title of Invention

"AN IMPROVED HORIZONTAL FLOW WRAP MACHINE."

Abstract This invention relates to an improved horizontal flow wrap machine comprising a tube of wrapping film through which loosely collated products (5) are conveyed forward by means of pulling and sealing rollers (1 and 2) and rotating sealing jaws (3 and 4) constituting the end seal wherein a stopper (6) rotating around a shaft (8) by means of a lever (9) secured thereon wherein the lever is connected to a pneumatic cylinder (11), alternatively a cam (1) operating a lever (3) through its follower (2) to actuate a stopper (5') rotating around a shaft (6') by means of another lever (7'). (Fig. 1 and 3)
Full Text FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention relates to an improved horizontal flow wrap machine. This machine is used for compacting loose collations like pre wrapped biscuit packs or flexible products before end sealing in the machine.
PRIOR ART
To wrap loose collations of packs, typically small packets of biscuits flow wrapped to form a string and then fan-folded, in a horizontal form fill and seal machine keeping enough margins in the cut length to allow elongation of product because of spring back action. This results into excessive usage of wrapper and loose packing.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
An object of the present invention is to propose an improved horizontal flow wrap machine, which prevents wastage of wrapper.

Another object of the present invention is to propose an improved horizontal flow wrap machine, which causes compact packing.
STATEMENT OF INVENTION
According to this invention there is provided an improved horizontal tlow wrap machine comprising a tube of wrapping film containing loosely collated products provided on pulling and sealing rollers and rotating sealing jaws constituting the end seal wherein
a stopper rotating around a shaft by means of a lever secured thereon wherein the lever is connected to a pneumatic cylinder.
Further according to this invention there is provided an improved horizontal flow wrap machine comprising a tube of wrapping film containing loosely collated products provided on pulling and sealing rollers and rotating sealing jaws constituting the end seal wherein
a cam operating a lever through its follower to actuate a stopper rotating around a shaft by means of another lever.
BRIEF DESCRITPION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS
Further objects and advantages of this invention will be more apparent from the ensuing description when read in conjunction with the accompanying drawings and wherein:
Fig. 1 shows: front elevation of improved horizontal flow wrap machine of the present invention.
Fig.2 shows: different positions of the stopper.
Fig. 3 shows: cam and lever arrangement of the present invention.
DETAIL DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION WITH REFERENCE TO THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS
The wrap machine of the present invention as shown in fig. 1 wherein loosely collated products (5) are conveyed forward inside a tube of
wrapping film by means of pulling and sealing rollers (1 and 2). Rotating sealing jaws (3 and 4) form the end seal.
A stopper (6) (As shown in fig. 1} rotates around the axis of shaft (8). This rotation is provided by means of a lever (9) secured on shaft (8) and connected to a pneumatic cylinder (11) by a connecting link (10). The pneumatic cylinder is held to a bracket (12). Timing of the actuation is controlled by usual means of cam actuated or PLC controlled solenoid valve (not shown).
The stopper is brought down to fall between products A and B as soon as product A crosses it as depicted in fig. 2a. Stopper remains in this position for sufficient time to allow sealing jaws to close as shown in fig. 2b. Meanwhile, product (B) comes in contact with this stopper. As product is propelled forward by the wrapping film tube and stopper resists its movement, it gets compacted as shown in fig. 2b. Thereafter, when it is safe to release the product, i.e. when the jaws are sufficiently closed and cannot crush the product, the stopper moves up.In another embodiment of this invention (as shown in fig, 3) a cam (1) operates a lever (3) through its follower (2) to actuate the stopper wherein the stopper (5') rotates around the axis of shaft (6'). This rotation is provided by means of another lever (7') connected to the lever (3) through a connecting link (4).
It is to be understood that the present invention is susceptible to modification, changes, adaptations by those skilled in the art. Such modifications, changes and adaptations are intended to be within the scope of the present invention, which is further set forth under the following claims:
