AUTO BASTI (ENEMA) APPARATUS
The following specification particularly describes the invention and the manner in which it is to be performed.
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The invention relates to an apparatus for administering enema. The construction of the apparatus is made to make it convenient to use single handed without any other outside help.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Basti (Enema) is one of the main curative treatments in Vata Dosha disorders according to Ayurveda. It is also used in other fields of medicine for different reasons. Basti is one of the panaceas for curing various intestinal disorders.
Currently, many devices are available for administration of enema. But all of them generally consist of a pot containing the medicine or any other required liquid and need another person or medical attendant for its administration into the patient.
In such cases, many problems may arise. The medicine going through the tube many times creates intestinal hazards due to high gravitational force. There is a high urge to empty the bowels once the medicine is administered and this results in many humiliating experiences for the patient. This is the reason why most patients refuse to get treated with enema.
The present invention therefore, relates to an apparatus for administering enema, comprising of a portable air compressor and a regulator valve, which can be operated by the patient himself, thereby saving lots of humiliating experiences for

the patient as well as the medical attendants. The present invention is made of simple parts, however, the idea of using them in such manner is novel, thereby making the apparatus very convenient to use for administering Enema.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
Accordingly, main object of the present invention is to develop a simple apparatus for administration of enema to be used single-handedly by the patient himself without creating any hazards.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
To meet the above object and to overcome the problems existing in the prior art, the present invention provides an apparatus for the administration of enema, comprising of an airtight medicine reservoir, referred hereafter as 'jar' linked to a compressor and tubing wherein the medicine flow is controlled by a regulator valve and can be operated by the patient himself.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Particularly, the present invention relates to an apparatus comprising of an airtight medicine reservoir, with minimum two openings, one connected to a portable compressor by an L-shaped connector and the other, to tubing, which can be inserted into the rectum.
In one form of the invention, the jar may be made airtight with the help of a rubber, plastic, metal or a glass cork and have a minimum of two openings for inserting tubing. The portable air compressor may be attached to the jar with the help of tubing and may be easily detached for ensuring easy cleaning of the jar. The air compressor may be battery operated using set of four 'AA' size batteries of 1.5 V each.

In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the 'jar' may be cylindrical or cubical or quadrangular in shape.
In another preferred embodiment of the present invention, the jar is made airtight by a lid made of rubber.
In still another preferred embodiment of the present invention, the jar lid has a minimum of two openings, through which tubing can be inserted into the jar.
In another preferred embodiment of the present invention, the tubing is made of rubber, stainless steel or glass or plastic.
In another preferred embodiment of the present invention, the tubing are made to stay in position on the jar with help of L-shaped connectors made of stainless steel, iron or plastic.
In one more preferred embodiment of the present invention, the jar is connected to an air compressor operated by a set of four 'AA' size batteries of 1.5 V each.
In still another preferred embodiment of the present invention, the tubing connecting the jar to the air compressor and containing a non-returnable valve is adjusted to such a height so as not to dip into the medicine in the jar.
In one more preferred embodiment of the present invention, the tubing from the jar to be inserted into the rectum is adjusted to such a height so as to dip into the medicine up to the bottom of the jar.
In an alternate embodiment of the present invention, the air compressor may be operated by a pressure bulb made of rubber.
In still another preferred embodiment of the present invention, the tubing from the

"jar" and to be inserted into the rectum may hold a minimum two-way plastic regulator to administer any additional medicine simultaneously into the body.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS
Figure 1 relates to one example of the apparatus for administration of enema.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
The invention is described in detail in the accompanying figure to illustrate the invention and therefore, should not be considered to limit the scope of the present invention.
Referring to Figure 1 it can be seen that the apparatus for administration of enema comprises a jar 1, made airtight by a rubber lid 2, having minimum two holes. Tubing 3 containing non-returnable valve 13 is inserted into the jar with the help of an L-shaped connector 4 to such a height so that it does not dip in the medicine and the other end of the tubing is connected to air compressor 5. The air compressor can be operated with the help of four standard 'AA' size batteries as shown by 6. The button 7 is used to switch the compressor on and off. Tubing 8 is inserted into the jar from the second hole and strength is provided to it with help of the L-shaped connector 9. One end of tubing 8 is dipped into the medicine 12 in the jar. The two-way regulator 10 is connected to the tubing 8 for regulating the flow of the medicine as prescribed by the doctor as well as for adding any additional requirement such as oil into the medicinal flow. The end 11 of the tubing is to be inserted into the rectum for administering enema.
OPERATION
With reference to Figure 1, the apparatus for administering enema can be operated by the patient in both, either a sitting position or a lying down position.

The end of tubing 11 as shown in the Figure 1 is inserted slowly into the rectum. The required medicine is filled into the jar and the portable air compressor is turned on with help of the button. It blows air into the jar resulting in the medicine being pushed into the tubing 8. The flow of medicine can be controlled by the patient himself with the help of two-way regulator 10.

I claim,
1. An apparatus for administering enema, comprising an airtight jar having two tubing, one linked to a portable air compressor and the other free.
2. The tube as in claim 1 connected to the portable air compressor wherein a non-returnable valve is inserted to prevent back flow of air
3. The jar as in claim 1, having a rubber lid with two holes for inserting the tubing.
4. The jar as in claim 1 which is made of plastic, glass or stainless steel.
5. The rubber lid as in claim 3 wherein the tubing is attached to the lid with the help of L-shaped connectors.
6. The tubing as in claim 1, where the free end can be inserted in the rectum of the Patient.
7. The tubing as in claim 6, wherein a two way valve is attached for administration of oil or additional medicine.
8. The tubing as in claim 1 which is made of rubber or silicon
9. An apparatus for administering enema substantially as described herein and illustrated in the accompanying drawing.
