Full Text | FIELD OF APPLICATION : The present application relates to a loadmoment indication system for lifting equipment like mobile hydraulic cranes. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION: Equipment maintenance services department of industrial plants, for example, uses the services of mobile hydraulic cranes for its various maintenance support. The manufacturer of the crane provides a chart for such cranes according to which there is a limit to the load carrying capacity of the crane at any particular boom length and boom angle. If the load on the crane exceeds the rated load carrying capacity, it may result in toppling of the crane. It will also unnecessarily put pressure on the tyre and the engine and will eventually damage the engine and tyre. In existing cranes most of the time the operator reiies on the crude judgement technique to carry out his work. For the; safety of all such cranes, a need was felt for providing a reliable Loadmoment dication system. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION: The main object of the present invention Is to provide a system for indicating loadmoment, which is very much necessary for fail-safe operation of the crane. Another object of the present invention is to provide a loadmoment indication system as an aid to help the operator use the equipment correctly within the design parameters of the crane, The system uses non-contact based boom length measurement technique and hydrometric principle based inclination measurement technique, which give high accuracy and greater reliability. Intelligent microprocessor based signal processing unit: is used for quick adjustment. The loadmoment indication system of the present invention is used to measure boom length, boom angle and load capacity of the crane. The safety of the equipment and the personnel lie in using the crane within these design constraints. In this system load sensor and inclination sensor are mounted to continuously monitor the load on the crane and compare the load lifted with the maximum rated capacity. The basis system provides warnings when the value exceeds the pre-set level. The present invention thus provides a loadmoment indication system for lifting equipment like mobile hydraulic cranes, characterized in that said system comprises a sensor unit for generating load data signals, a control unit for receiving and processing the data signals outputted by said sensor unit and a display unit coupled to said control unit for displaying loading conditions on said lifting equipment. BREIF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWING The invention can now be described in detail with the help of the figure of the accompanying drawing in which Figure 1 shows in block diagram form the loadmoment indication system of the invention. DETAILED DESCRIPTION As shown in Figure 1, the system of the present invention basically comprises three units, a sensor unit 1, a control unit 2 and a display unit 3. The sensor unit 1 comprising various sensors for measuring boom length, boom angle and pressure is used for generating and outputting data signals and providing the same to the control unit 2. A display unit 3 is used for displaying the status. After providing the output from the sensor unit 1 to the controller unit 2, the controller unit processes the data coming from the various sensors. The controller unit 2 comprises a central processing unit (CPU) for processing the data signals generated and outputted by the sensor unit 1. The central processing unit is configured for using non-contact based measurement technique for calculating the boom length and for using hydrometric principle based technique for measuring the boom inclination. The CPU is further configured for comparing the load carrying capacity of the lifting equipment at a particular boom angle and boom length with the rated load and for producing audio/visual warning when the load exceeds the rated load. The display unit 3 gives 1x4 inch graphic display for display of boom length, boom angle, rated load and present load. In normal condition the graphic display shows green, yellow and red zones to indicate safe, danger and unsafe working load condition. The display also Indicates; the extent of such conditions.
