This invention relates to an improved lock used in a chain comprising atleast two locking pins disposed between upper and lower plate characterized in that atleast two holes are provided in the upper plate with a diameter of 0.05±0.01 mm less than that of lower portion of the pins and upper portion of the pins is tapered or dimensioned to a diameter atleast 0.03 mm less than that of the holes of plate. This invention also relates to a tool used for opening and closing of the improved lock comprising a base plate with atleast two guide pins at its two corners and atleast two holes at its pitch center, on each side of which atleast one threaded hole is provided for insertion of bolt therein, a plurality of guide plates and a top pusher/opener plate on the top. (Fig. 1 and 2)
Full Text FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention relates to an improved lock and a tool for opening and closing the lock used in a chain.
PRIOR ART
(The lock presently used in a chain is having a loose upper plate provided below a lever. Two holes provided in the plate are having diameter larger than that of the locking pins so as to facilitate insertion of the pins into the holes of plate by hand. The difference between their diameter lies in the range of 0.12-0.20mm. However, a distinct disadvantage associated with the same is that, the lock becomes unlocked due to wear and tear of the upper plate.-)
To overcome the said disadvantage, development has been made by increasing thickness of the upper plate or by providing an oval shape to the same to increase surface area or by providing nut above the plate. However, the same does not provide an effective solution to the existing problem because of wear and tear of the plate due to distortion of the locking pins. This causes accident and reduction in the life time of vehicle/machinery.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
An object of this invention is to propose an improved lock and a tool for opening and closing the lock used in a chain which overcomes disadvantages of the prior art.
Another object of this invention is to propose an improved lock and a tool for opening and closing the lock used in a chain which causes increase in lifetime of the vehicle.
Further object of this invention is to propose an improved lock and a tool for opening and closing the lock used in a chain which avoids accident due to breakage of the chain.
STATEMENT OF INVENTION
According to this invention there is provided a tool used for opening and closure of lock used in a chain comprising atleast two locking pins disposed between upper and lower plate characterized in that atleast two holes are provided in the upper plate with a diameter of 0.05+0.01 mm less than that of lower portion of the pins and upper portion of the pins is tapered or dimensioned to a diameter atleast 0.03 mm less than that of the holes of plate wherein said tool having

a base plate with atleast two guide pins at its two corners and atleast two holes at its pitch center, on each side of which atleast one threaded hole is provided for insertion of bolt therein, a plurality of guide plates and a top pusher/ opener plate on the top.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION WITH REFERENCE TO THE
ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS

Further objects and advantages of this invention will be more apparent from the ensuing description when read in conjunction with the accompanying drawings and wherein:
Fig. 1 shows: upper plate of the present invention used in a lock.
Fig. 2 shows: tool for opening and closing the lock.
Fig. 3 shows: base of the tool shown in fig. 2.
Fig. 4 shows: guide plate used on the base.
Fig. 5 shows: another guide plate used in the tool.
Fig. 6 shows: a top pusher/opener plate used in the tool.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION WITH REFERENCE TO THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS

Reference may be made to fig. 1 wherein upper plate is having atleast two holes with a diameter lesser than that of the locking pins. The difference in diameter is 0.0510.01mm for a tight grip of the plate around the pins. This avoids distortion of the pins and as a result, wear and tear of the plate can be avoided unlike prior art. Further, the upper portion of the pins is tapered or dimensioned to have a diameter of atleast 0.03mm less than that of the holes of the plate.
Further, reference may be made to fig. 2 indicating a tool used for opening and closing of the lock. As shown in fig. 3, the tool comprises a base (1) attached to a handle (2) wherein the base is provided with atleast two guide pins (3) at two corners and a counter (4) to keep the lock in position during operation. Further, the base is having atleast one threaded hole (4') on each side of counter through which bolt can pass.
Further, the tool comprises a guide (as shown in fig. 4) on its base to support the lock with atleast two holes (5) at its two corners through which the guide pins can pass and two threaded holes (6) through which bolts can be inserted. Further, the guide has a space (7) as shown in fig. 4 at its center to accommodate the lock therein. Now reference may be

made to fig. 5 wherein another guide plate with atleast two holes (8) at two corners for guide pins and atleast two holes (9) for bolts on the side of atleast two holes (10) at pitch center for supporting the lock are provided. The lock as shown in fig. 1 is positioned below this guide plate, on the top of which a top pusher plate/opener plate (as shown in fig. 6) is positioned with two bolts (11) at its pitch center, on each side of which atleast one hole is provided for bolt. Further, this plate is having atleast two holes for guide pins at its corner.
The assembly described above used for closing the lock comprises atleast one alen key for bigger alen bolts. However, for opening the lock atleast two more guide plates (as shown in fig. 4) are used above the one already provided and atleast two alen keys are used for bolts.
It is to be noted that the present invention is susceptible to modifications, adaptations and changes by those skilled in the art. Such variant embodiments employing the concepts and features of this invention are intended to be within the scope of the present invention, which is further set forth under the following claims:-
