Title of Invention

'A COIL LINKAGE DOORMAT/FLOORMAT'

Abstract The present invention provides a doormat / floormat comprising plurality of square, rectangular, circular, semi-circular or diamond tile components made of twisted fiber rods, said components are joined together with wire coil linkage means encircling the adjoining sides of said components in a modular form for making the doormat/ floormat.
Full Text The present invention relates to a coil linkage doormat / floormat. BACKGROUND
Conventional doormats/floormats manufactured with coconut fibre and steel rods have been in use at the entrances, exits of doorways and at openings of all types of buildings and the designs and techniques used so far have served the purposes, only partially, creating certain disadvantages.
The most distinct disadvantage among many is the fact that the size of the mat could not be adjusted to the required dimension by adding on modular pieces and the size was fixed at the time of manufacture.
The object of the present invention is to obviate the above drawback.
The present invention provides a doormat / floormat that is made up of twisted in-brush fibre circular rods, which is explained in details in Sri-Lankan Patent nos. 10667, 10786, 11028, 11333.
The proposed invention also makes it possible to fold the mat for easy transportation and also provides an opportunity to provide a skirting with the same material as the floormat by folding the corner pieces to a vertical plane along the side walls.
Accordingly, the present invention provides a doormat / floormat comprising plurality of square, rectangular, circular, semi-circular or diamond tile components made of twisted fiber rods, said components are joined together with wire coil linkage means encircling the adjoining sides of said components in a modular form for making the doormat/ floormat.
The said wire coil linkage means are rotatable to make the doormat / floormat foldable.
The said wire coil linkage means is made of GI wire.
At least three upstanding modular fiber tile components are joined to stand by a special welded frame in a vertical plane perpendicular to said doormat/ floormat so that said doormat/ floormat transforms into a doormat/ floormat cum bootwiper which can brush the sides of a boot / shoe.

The periphery of said components is made of plastic, wooden, aluminium, metal or combination of these materials.
Detailed Description
The present invention is achieved by introducing square or rectangle or triangular or semi circular or circular tiles made out of coconut fibre twisted in rods (1). See figure (1) where binding wire is used at the end to join the fibre rod into the required shape. In this particular embodiment it is a square.
See fig (2) to understand how the wire coil linkage means (2) is inserted on each tile so that they can be linked to each other as shown in figures (3) &
(4).
The tiles are individually completed with the required design as shown in fig-5 prior to linking operation.
Figure (6) shows the linked tiles for a certain area. This can be expanded on any of the four corner sides by linking additional tiles.
The designs with fibre inserted within the tile and the tiles made of coconut fibre twisted in rods can be made very attractive by using dyed fibre of different colours.
The embodiment described above does not limit the claims to this particular example.
The Floormat/Doormat as described above can also be made for dual purpose by making a bootwiper using some of these tiles in a vertical direction or by combining the alleged invention mat with a prior art boot wiper.
The mat in the alleged invention using twisted in coconut fibre rods may be used as a wall hanging that could be increased or decreased to a required size.
The wires that are used for the linkage system in the alleged inventions may be of steel, plastic or combination of these two materials.

If the size of the mat can be fixed and if a rigid mat is required an outer frame may be introduced to the periphery of the said mat using materials such as aluminum, steel, plastic or a combination of such materials.

We claim:
1. A coil linkage doormat / floormat comprising plurality of square,
rectangular, circular, semi-circular or diamond tile components made
of twisted fiber rods (1), said components are joined together with
wire coil linkage means (2) encircling the adjoining sides of said
components in a modular form for making the doormat/ floormat.
2. A coil linkage doormat / floormat as claimed in claim 1 wherein said
wire coil linkage means (2) are rotatable to make the doormat /
floormat foldable.
3. A coil linkage doormat / floormat as claimed in claim 1 wherein said
wire coil linkage means (2) is made of GI wire.
4. A coil linkage doormat / floormat as claimed in claim 1 wherein at
least three upstanding modular fiber tile components are joined to
stand by a special welded frame in a vertical plane perpendicular to
said doormat/ floormat so that said doormat/ floormat transforms into
a doormat/ floormat cum bootwiper which can brush the sides of a
boot / shoe.
5. A coil linkage doormat / floormat as claimed in claim 1 wherein the
periphery of said components is made of plastic, wooden, aluminium,
metal or combination of these materials.
6. A coil linkage doormat / floormat substantially as herein described
with reference to the accompanying drawings.
