"A PORTABLE CHAR BURNING HEARTH (CHULHA)"

Abstract The present invention relates to a portable char burning hearth (chulha) having an improved thermal efficiency of burning of char, temperature profile, time of burning and is environment friendly due to proper and efficient burning of char.
Full Text The present invention relates to a portable char burning hearth (chulha) having an improved thermal efficiency of burning of char, temperature profile, time of burning and is environment friendly.
In the conventional hearth (chulha) there is an improper burning of char due to which it produces smoky flame and the temperature achieved is not optimum.
In the conventional hearth (chulha) the air flow is not efficient and the burning of char is not durable.
In the traditional hearth (chulha), there is more heat loss and hence less production of energy in a time frame.
Therefore it is an object of the invention to burn the char properly and efficiently.
It is another object of the invention to produce the non smoky flame with much higher temperature.
Yet another object of the invention is to have the efficient air flow and to increase the durability of burning of char.
It is still another object of the invention to avoid heat losses in the environment and increasing the energy production with same amount of char and in the same time.
The present invention relates to the portable char burning hearth (chulha) having an improved thermal efficiency of burning of char, temperature profile and time of burning avoiding all the problems present in the known state of the art.
The subject invention may better be understood with reference to accompanying drawings. However, the same should not be construed to restrict the scope of the application as they are for illustrative purposes only.
Figure 1: depicts the hearth (chulha) Figure 2: depicts the flame concentrator
The hearth (chulha) of the present invention has five components namely:
1) Hearth (chulha) body
2) Flame concentrator
3) Air passage Die
4) Bottom sliding plates (Air regulating plates) and
5) Closed Bottom plate and legs
The main body(1) of hearth (chulha) is a die casted or fabricated metal body of any shape which is open in different designs like slits, holes, completely open and the like on top and closed with cuts of different designsin conformity with the top ends in the bottom for air passage.
The pre-moulded or pre-compacted plates of these char with air passages of any shape left open are used in the body of the hearth (chulha). The pre-compacted char plates are made up of the mixture of char, clay and water by volume. The percentage varies according to the quatity of the char used. The char used can be smokeless coal, an agro-waste, municipal waste and the like.
The density of the char may vary from 150 kg/m3 to 500 kg/m3. The precompacted char plates are 2-3 cm wide, 9-10 cm in length and the spacing between the plates varies from 7.8-8.2 mm. The spacing between the plates will vary if the dimensions of the plates are changed. The pre-
compacted plates once put inside and ignited serves as a hearth (chulha) but without smoke and much higher temperature of upto 500°C.
There are means provided for putting the pre-moulded compact char plates to fix their position inside the main hearth (chulha) body (1).
There are also means provided to lift or carry the hearth (chulha) from one place to another.
The hearth (chulha) also has a flame concentrator (2) which is a die casted or fabricated metal piece kept on top of hearth (chulha) for concentrating flame from multiple slits in a narrow band or holes (or any other design) and thereby avoiding heat losses to surroundings. The small firm raising all around top face ensures easy sitting of various sizes of utensils while also ensuring smooth flow of air or gases.
There is also provided means to fix the flame concentrator (2) on top of the main body (1) of the hearth (chulha).
Further the air passage die (3) is used for creating air passages in the char mass while compacting the char mass inside the main hearth (chulha) body. It is a flat long plate fitted with required numbers of rectangular small plates perpendicular to its broad face or a circular plate fitted with multiple number of pipes perpendicular to each other.
Prior to filling char, the hearth (chulha) body (1) is kept over it so as to surround the small rectangular or circular or any other shapes and design plates. After filling and compacting char, the hearth (chulha) body is pulled up while holding the air passage die ( 3) down.
In one of the embodiment of the invention, using pre-moulded plates of char (other than the Bee-hive briquettes) in hearth (chuiha) body air passage die ( 3) is not required.
There is also means provided for a bottom sliding (or openable mode etc.) plates (4) made of die casted or fabricated metal having air passages cut similar to the arrangement for it (air passage) to top or bottom of the hearth (chuiha), thereby regulating or controlling the air flow for efficient and durable burning of char fitted just below the compacted char.
The closed bottom plate (5) (sliding or fixed) made of die casted or fabricated metal is provided at the bottom to avoid falling or burning of raw char from the hearth (chuiha).
The legs of different materials, shapes, sizes or designs are also provided at the bottom of the hearth (chuiha).
Accordingly, the present invention relates to a poratable char burning hearth (chuiha) comprising a die casted or fabricated metal body (1) open at top and closed at the bottom with cut at the bottom for air passage, a plurality of pre-compacted or premoulded char plates placed inside the body , means for creating the air passages in the char mass, means for placing the premoulded char plates inside the hearth (chuiha) body, means for lifting the hearth (chuiha) from one place to another, means placed on top of hearth (chuiha) to concentrate flame, means for regulating air flow for efficient and durable burning of char, means to avoid falling of burning or raw char wherein the precompacted char plates are 2-3 cm wide, 9-10 cm in length and the spacing between the plates ranges from 7.8- 8.2 mm
The said means for creating the air passages in the char mass while compacting the char mass inside the main chuiha body is a air passage die (3).
The said air passage die (3) is a flat long plate fitted with required number of rectangular small plates perpendicular to its broad face.
The said air passage die (3) is a circular plate fitted with multiple number of pipes perpendicular to each other.
The said means for lifting the hearth (chulha) from one place to another place are the legs provided at the bottom of the hearth (chulha).
The said means to concentrate the flame placed on top of the hearth (chulha) is a flame concentrator (2).
The said flame concentrator (2) is a die-casted or fabricated metal piece kept on top of chulha concentrating flames from multiple slits in a narrow band or holes avoiding heat losses to the surroundings.
The said means for placing the premoulded char plates inside the hearth (chulha) body are the plurality of bottom sliding plates (4) having the air passage cut similar to the air passage on top or bottom of the chulha.
The said plurality of bottom sliding plates (4) made of die-casted or fabricated metal fitted just below the compacted char for regulated air flow for efficient and durable burning of char.
The said means to avoid falling of burning or raw char is the closed bottom plate (5) made of die-casted or fabricated metal provided at the bottom of the hearth (chulha).
While particular embodiments of the subject invention have been described, it would be obvious to those skilled in the art that various changes and modifications to the subject invention can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
