| Abstract | In an engine of the type in which a cam shaft is disposed closer to a combustion chamber than the points of conjunction and connection of an intake valve and an exhaust valve disposed in a cyclinder head so as to be capable of rectilinear opening and closing operations with an intake-side rocker arm and an exhaust-side rocker arm interposed respectively between the cam shaft and an intake valve and an exhaust valve,to make it possible to reduce the width of the cyclinder head,and to further reduce the size of the cyclinder head in the direction along the cyclinder axis. An intake velve 58 and an exhaust valve are disposed in a cyclinder head 41 with their opening and closing operation directions parallel to each other,and a specified port 56 which is one of an intake port 56 and position away from one end in the axial direction of a cam shaft 68 so that at least a part of the cam shaft 68 is overlapped therewith on a projection onto a plane orthogonal to the axis of the cam shaft 68. |
