PNEUMATIC DRIVE FOR VALVE OPERATION
This invention relates to "PNEUMATIC DRIVE FOR VALVE OPERATION" wherein the wheel used for manual operation has been retrofitted with a specially developed fixture to enable the valve operation /chain pulley through, both reaction type and impact type pneumatic torque wrench, which is more useful for very large size valve as well as through manual wheel operation.
Almost all the ball valves at process industries are fitted with manual gear mechanism for opening and closing of the valves. The bigger sized manually operated valves are fitted with chain and chain-wheel arrangement for opening and closing of the valves. This made the valve opening/closing very laborious and time consuming.
Manually operated chain pulleys are fitted with chain wheels which is difficult to operate during rig up time. This makes the chain pulley operation more laborious and time consuming.
To overcome the above disadvantage and limitations of the manually operated valves and manually operated chain pulleys a pneumatic drive for valve operation and a pneumatic drive for chain pulley.qperation as been developed.

The operation details of the invention with reference to the Figure - 1 to 11 is as under
With a view to operate a valve both by manual and by pneumatic torque wrench, a fixture is developed, in which wheel provided with the valve for its closing and opening operation was replaced by*a. special fixture which has hexagonal nut inside the operating wheel as shown in the figure 5.
Manual valve operation
In normal manual valve operation the "PNEUMATIC DRIVE FOR VALVE OPERATION" wheel is fixed over the hexagonal nut by means of grub screw / locking bolt and the hexagonal nut was fixed over the valve drive shaft with shaft key as shown in figure 6. By operating the "PNEUMATIC DRIVE FOR VALVE OPERATION" wheel valve can be operated.
PNEUMATIC DRIVE FOR VALVE OPERATION
With a view to reduce this down time, the wheel (Figure-3) of the "PNEUMATIC DRIVE FOR VALVE OPERATION" was removed from the hexagonal nut(Figure-l) by loosening / removing locking bolt / grub screw (Figure-7 No. 5). hexagonal nut (Figure-3) of "PNEUMATIC DRIVE FOR VALVE OPERATION" was fixed over the drive

shaft(Figure-9 No. 1) of the valve with shaft key(Figure-9 No. 4). This hexagonal nut (Figure-9 No. 2) in turn was made to rotate by reaction type pneumatic torque wrench (Figure - 8,9&10) or by impact type torque wrench by using suitable box spanner (Figure -11). Since Bi-directional rotation is possible in both reaction type and impact type pneumatic torque wrench valve can be either opened or closed using either of reaction or impact type torque wrench.
CHAIN PULLEY OPERATION.
Manual wheel provided for the chain pulley operation can be replaced by the wheel for "PNEUMATIC DRIVE FOR VALVE OPERATION" as shown in the Figure - 5 No.3
MANUAL CHAIN PULLEY OPERATION.
In normal manual operation the chain pulley wheel (Figure - 5 No.3) is attached to the drive shaft through hexagonal nut (Figure-3) and lock bolt/grub screw. On rotating the wheel through chain, chain pulley can be operated .
PNEUMATIC DRIVE FOR CHAIN PULLEY OPERATION.
To operate the chain pulley using pneumatic torque wrench, the chain wheel (Figure - 5 No.3) was removed by loosening or removing locking bolt/grub screw. Only the hexagonal nut (Figure-3) was attached to the drive shaft with shaft key. By rotating the hexagonal nut using box spanner and pneumatic torque wrench the chain pulley can be operated.
The invention herein described and illustrated in Figure - 1 to 11 of the drawings accompanying this specification.
