Abstract This invention relates to an improved crane comprising a front member (9) adapted to be secured with a rear member (10) by articulation and oscillation means wherein the articulation and oscillation means (11) having a link member (15) secured with the base plate (16) of the frame (12) of the rear member (10) at lower end of the plate, a pivot pin (17) on the other end of link member (15) is provided to hold the connecting plate of front member (9) at the upper end, characterized in that an operating cabin is provided at front member together with the controls and boom assembly.
Full Text FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention relates to an improved crane.
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
Cranes are known in the an: to have a front and rear section. However, such members were provided with cranes having a front and rear section. The cabin is mounted or the rear section together with the controls consisting of hydraulic, mechanical and electrical controls. Further, the engine and transmission is also provided with the rear section of the crane. The front section of the crane supports the boom assembly. The front section and the rear section are jointed together by means of an articulation member, which comprises a pivot pin passing through a bush mounted on the upper plate of the frame provided with the rear section of the crane such thai to connect the linkage of the from section (boom assembly) and rear section (operator cabin) therewith pivotly.
Several disadvantages are associated with the known construction of cranes having the cabins mounted on the rear section. One such disadvantage is that the

front section supporting the boom assembly has a plurality of fastening means to hold the plurality of components and subassemblies. Thus the front section.has a yoke held through its base to a main frame through a first fastening means. The arms of the yoke are held to a cradle through second and third fastening means. A cradle is supported on the main frame through a fourth fastening means. A frame joins the front arms of the main frame through a fifth fastening means. The main frame pivotally supports the boom of the crane. The frame provides at the fourth fastening means a first point of articulation. The second point'of articulation is provided at the first fastening means.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
An object of this invention is to propose an improved construction of a crane to obviate the disadvantages associated with the prior art.
Another object of this invention is to propose an improved construction of a crane having improved articulation and oscillation means provided therewith.

Yet another object of this invention is to propose an improved construction of the articulation and oscillation means for use with a crane which obviates the disadvantages of a plurality of fastening means.
Still another object of this invention is to propose an improved construction of the articulation and oscillation means for use with a crane and wherein the cabin may be provided with the front section.
Further objects and advantages of this invention will be more apparent from the ensuing description.
According to this invention there is provided an improved crane comprising a front member adapted to be secured with a rear member by articulation and oscillation means wherein the articulation and oscillation means having a link member secured with the base plate of the frame of the rear member at lover end of the plate, a pivot pin on the other end of link member is provided to cold the connecting plate of front member at the upper end, characterized in that an operating cabin is provided at front member together with the controls and boom assembly.

In accordance with this invention, the crane comprises a front and rear section, as known in the art. However, in the present invention, the front section has the cabin mounted thereon together with the boom assembly and controls. The rear section has the engine and transmission. Further the articulation and oscillation means has a link member adapted to be secured with the base plate of the frame of the rear member at the lower surface thereof by means of a first pivot pin passing through a spherical bearing provided at the corresponding end of the link member. A second pivot pin being provided at the other end of said link member such that to hold the connecting plate of the front member at the upper surface thereof. A spherical bearing is provided in the passes of the connecting plate of the front section for allowing the passes of the second pivot pin therethrough.
An improved crane according to a preferred embodiment is herein described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings wherein:
Fig. 1 shows the plan view of a crane known in the art.
Fig. 2 shows the plan view of a crane proposed by the present
invention, and
Fig. 3 shows the articulation and oscillation member of the present
invention.

Referring to the drawings particularly fig.l the crane comprises n front portion 1 having a boom assembly 2 provided thereon. The front portion 1 is secured to a rear portion 3 by means of articulation and oscillation means 4. The articulation and oscillations means comprises a pivot pin 5 adapted to be passed through the linkage 6 and the base plate 7 of the articulation member 8 such that to connect the from member 1 with the rear member 3 movably. These features are as such known in the art and do not constitute the inventive features of the present invention.
According to this invention and as shown in fig.2 the crane has a front member 9 adapted to be secured with a rear member 10 by means of an articulation and oscillation means 11 provided with the frame 12 of the rear member. The cabin alongwith the controls for controlling the operation of the crane is provided en the front portion 9 for supporting the boom assembly 14 thereon.

The articulation and oscillation means as shown in fig.3 comprises a link member 15 secured pivotally at the lower surface of the base plate 16 of the frame 12 of the rear portion 10 by means of a pivot pin 17. A spherical bearing is provided at the corresponding end of the link member 15 for passing the pivot pin 17 therethrough. A second pivot pin 19 is provided at the other end of link member for securing the connecting plate 20 of the front member 9 provided ar the upper surface thereof movably. Another spherical bearing 18 is provided at the other end also of the link member 15 for accommodating the second pivot pin 19 therein.



WE CLAIM;
1. An improved crane comprising a front member (9) adapted to be
secured with a rear member (10) by articulation and oscillation
means wherein the articulation and oscillation means (11) having a
link member (15) secured with the base plate (16) of the frame (12)
of the rear member (10) at lower end of the plate, a pivot pin (17)
on the other end of link member (15) is provided to hold the
connecting plate of front member (9) at the upper end,
characterized in that an operating cabin is provided at front
member together with the controls and boom assembly.
2. An improved crane as claimed in claim 1 wherein a spherical
bearing is provided on either ends of said link member (15) of the
articulation and oscillation means for accommodating the pivot
pins (17).
3. An improved crane substantially as herein described and
illustrated.
