The present invention relates to Multipurpose Groundsheet more particularly relates to the multipurpose lightweight ground sheet for soliders and other civil applications,
The ground sheet used by soldiers is a must and daily use necessity. The preferred dimension of about lm X 2 m is used. The ground sheet is used for many applications to name a few are as a sleeping mat, as a temporary shelter by joining two or more ground sheets to collect water from streams when in remote area, as a stretcher hammock etc. The dimension is appropriate according to ease of application however it can be altered as per the requirement and end use application.
DESCRIPTION OF EXISTING PRODUCT/PROCESS
The conventional ground sheet used is made out of rubber proofed cotton fabric. The process of manufacture is first to rubber proof a single layer of cotton fabric by spreading rubber solution by a standard coating method. The rubber solution may consist of fillers and additives to obtain a waterproofing layer on the fabric. The proofed fabric thus formed is subjected to lamination process where the rubber compound acts as an adhesive to bond two layers of cotton fabric. Cotton being a natural fiber, has many disadvantages like it looses mechanical properties due to exposure to external environment. It can be affected easily with the microorganisms and the uses condition makes it more vulnerable to such attacks. Natural rubber compound used also degrade because of unsaturated sites available, the additive causes odour hence it is not a comfortable option as ground sheet. JP Patent 2004211475 discloses a process for soft ground biodegration fiber sheet capable of ensuring traffic ability in a soft ground which comprises of fiber sheet parallel arranges a plurality of warp threads alignment within a wrap, thread arrangement plane. But these sheets are not resistive to weathering elements like moisture UV and chemical reaction.

JP Patent 8072500 discloses a method for making sheet with coloured figures made of Japanese Paper fitted with ground sheet. But these sheets does not have sufficient strength & durability for preventing deteterioration due to solar radiation.
Patent W002095169 discloses a method for making a modular shelter comprising a rigid structure formed with mutually linked and articulated frames.
However, the conventional methods have many disadvantages than the present invention some of which are mentioned below :
The conventional methods can be affected easily with the microorganism
The conventional methods causes odour such as toxic sulphur compounds used for vulcanization hence it is not comfortable.
The conventional products gets harden on storage of the composite.
The Conventional products does not have resistive strength against weathering elements like moisture oxygen, UV and chemical reaction.
The cotton fabric does not dry up quicker.
OBJECTIVES OF PRESENT INVENTION
The present Invention "Multipurpose Ground Sheet PP/TPO composite Laminate" has been developed to overcome the disadvantages of the conventional methods / products.
The first objective of the present invention is that it should not susceptible to microbiological attack.

The other objective is that it should not causes odour problem such as toxic sulphur compound causes bad odour used for vulcanization in Rubber sheets.
The present product described under invention should not harden on storage of the composite.
The present invention should be resistive to weathering element like moisture, oxygen & UV & chemical reaction.
The present invention should have excellent low temperature flexibility.
The present invention should have excellent UV and thermal ageing properties.
On wetting the present fabric should dry up quicker.
COMPLETE TECHNICAL DETAILS
The present invention "Multipurpose Ground Sheet PP/TPO composite Laminate" will now be explained in detail with the help of figure 1 and figure 2 of accompanying drawings.
Figure 1 shows cross section diagram of ground sheet PP/TPO. Figure 2 shows dimentional illustration of Ground Sheet PP/TPO.
Figure 1 illustrates Polypropylene (PP) fabric (1) Thermoplastic alefin (TPO) layer (2), Adhesive layer (3).

The fabric used for coating is Poly Propylene (PP) based, made out of dope dyed texturized PP yam. However, all the types of yams can be used for fabric manufacturing. The weight of fabric was ranging from 30-400 gsm (gram per square meter).
The fabric is coated on one side with TPO (Thermoplastic olefin) compound. The compounds consist of number of polymers viz. pp, homo and copolymers manufactured using various types of catalysts based processes, Engage Chemigum. One of the formulations is tabulated and discussed below as an example. The filler and other additives are mixed as per the product requirement.
In the TPO compound formulations, for 100 parts of PP homopolymer or co-polymer, Engage 10-300 parts by weight, Chemigum P 81, 0-500 parts by weight, precipitated CaC03 0-100 parts by weight, Carbon black/ Ti02 or colorant 0-30 parts by weight, UV -stabilizer 0-10 parts by weight, wax based lubricant 0-20 parts by weight are added first in a twin screw extruder. The processing temperature of the zones and die head was ranging from 130-220° C, suitable mesh filters were used. A typical formulation and General Properties of TPO Compound are listed in tables No. I and II.
