---|---|
Abstract | A fuel economizing vessel comprising a bottom portion and a portion, the said two portions being thermally isolated from each other all round by a thermally insulating members which provides a fluid tight joint between the said two portions. |
Full Text | This inventtoo relates to a fuel economisiag vessel for heating various substances, iuchiding fluids, solids and semi-solids, more particularly, though not exclusively, food substances. The said vessel will be provided with a lid. In one case the lid will be such as to cover the vessel tightly and enable steam pressure to build up within the vessel. In such a case the lid will be provided widi die usual pressure release valve. The vessel m this cfuie will serve as a pressure cooker. In another case, the lid of the vessel will serve to contain the steam witiiin the vessel. The steam pressure in such a case will not be as high as that in a pressure cooker, but will still be sufficient for steam heating or cooking purposes. Known vessels used for steam heating various substances, such as those indicated above, generally suffer from the drawback that a sttbstffiitial amount of the heat energy applied is wasted. For instance, in the known vessel used for steam cooking food, the bottom portion of ihe vessel gets heated by a heat source. The heat absorbed by the said bottom portion is conveyed, by conduction, to the sides of the vessel, and to the inside top portion of the vessel. Such heat conducted to the sides, is ultimately wasted by radiation from the sides of the vessel to atmosphere. If such conduction of heat can be prevented, then, to that extent there is substantial saving of heat energy. l.A fuel econom ising vessel for heating, comprising a bottom portion and a top portion, the said two portions being thermally isolated from each other all round, by a thermally insulating member which provides a fhiid-tight joint between the said two portions. 2.A fuel economising vessel as clauned in Claim 1 wherein the thermally insulating member comprises a reinforcing band fixed to, and around the perimeter of, the said member. 3.A fuel economising vessel m claimed in Claim 2 wherein the member han a channel around its permieter in which the band is located in order to firmly encircle the member. 4.A fuel economising vessel as claimed in Ciami 3 wherein the band is made of metal and of endless configuration, the said band being located in tite channel by means such as a heat-shrink fit. S.A fuel economismg vessel as claimed in any one of the preceding Claims wherein die member comprises an H-shaped fhiid-tight joint, the rims of the top md bottom portions of the vessel being respectively located in between, and immovably fixed to, the top and bottom pairs of tlie limbs of the said H-shaped fluid-tight joint. 6.A fuel economising vessel for heating substantially as herein described with reference to, and as illustrated in, the accompatty ing drawings |
