Title of Invention

PROCESS FOR PREPARATION OF SOFT MUGA SILK FABRIC

Abstract The present invention discloses the method of manufacturing sericin free soft muga cloth from the natural muga cocoons through heat treatment process. Such muga cloth is suitable for dress materials and many other applications like UV protection garments and articles.
Full Text Field of the Invention
This invention relates to a novel process for manufacturing soft Muga silk yarn having uniform twist for using the same for the manufacture of soft muga silk fabric and a new processing method for softening mugasilk cloth
Prior Art
In the Prior art the Muga Yarn is reeled manually with the help of a device called Bhir or Bhowri wherein both S twist and Z Twist are given with a node by movement of hand It is difficult to maintain the uniformity of the twist due to manual involvement. The twist given manually to the yarn is neutralized whenever there is a little jerk or vibration to the yarn. The yarn becomes O Twisted and becomes fibrous and the reeling of the fabric becomes a difficult and tedious job
To overcome these difficulties the reeling machines are used to get the uniform yarn having Z twist or S twist. Further, to obviate the fibrous nature of the yarn strong starch is applied to the yarn before weaving the fabric. Also to keep the fabric non-fibrous strong starch is applied during the weaving of the fabric
Disadvantages associated with the prior art
The main disadvantages associated with the Muga fabric is that the fabric becomes stiff like a paper and the stiffness does not loose even after the washing of the fabric Due to this reason the people do not like to use the Muga silk for dress material and furnishing materials It is also observed that due to the presence of the starch the Muga silk fabric is susceptible to fungus action and it is common to see the fungus spots on the fabric. Further it is observed that the Muga silk yarn of the fabric known in the art does not act as a UV protection garments or articles

Objects and Advantages of the Invention
Therefore the main object of the present invention is to propose a novel process for manufacturing soft Muga Silk Yam from Muga Cocoon for use for the manufacture of soft muga silk fabric.
Another object of this invention is to propose a novel process, which is very easy and can be performed by a person of ordinary skill.
Yet another object of this invention is to propose a novel process for manufacturing soft Muga silk fabric, which is not susceptible to fungus
Still another object of the present invention is to provide a novel process for manufacturing soft Muga Silk fabric for use for manufacturing Ultra violet rays protection garments or articles.
Statement of the Invention
According to this invention there is provided a novel process for manufacturing soft Muga silk yarn from the Muga Cocoon, comprising preparing silk yarn from the Muga Cocoon by using a conventional reeling machine characterized in that the yarn so obtained being subjected to the step of heat treatment at a temperature of 50 - 100 degree celcius in a heat treatment device / chamber.
Detailed Description of the Invention
The process for manufacturing soft Muga Silk Yam according to the preferred embodiment is herein described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings wherein;
Fig 1 shows the process of heat treatment
Fig 2 shows the process of heat treatment according to an option
3

In accordance with the process of this invention the Muga Silk Yarn is prepared by using conventional reeling machines .But the yarn contain 10 to 15% sericin , the natural gum. The yarn so obtained is then subjected to the step of heat treatment by passing the same through a heat treatment device (Fig 1) or a chamber (fig. 2) at a temperature of 50-100 degree celcius, preferably at a temperature of 60 - 80 degree celcius. The selection of temperature depends on the thickness of the yarn and also on the speed of the yarn at which the reeling and heat treatment is carried on. According to an option the step of heat treatment is carried on by means of hot air impingement in order to obtain the sericin free Muga Silk Yarn useful for manufacturing the soft Muga silk fabric which can be used for manufacturing dresses or furnishing material for the use of men and women. Muga silk having UV absorbing property, can be used for manufacturing umbrella, tent etc also. The step of heat treatment is carried on by passing the yarn obtained by the reeling machine through a device as shown in fig. 1 at the above mentioned temperature. This treatment can also be given by passing the yarn through a heat treatment chamber wherein the required temperature is maintained by supplying the hot air into the chamber and as shown in Fig.2.
The heat treatment device as shown in (fig.l ) is a solid ring typed structure (1) having a plurality of hollow holes (2) provided therein, such that to allow the yarn thereto. For treating the yarn, the ring is heated continuously and the yarns are allowed to pass through said holes at the desired speed and temperature mentioned herein above such that to treat the silk yarn. The device as shown in fig2 comprises a hollow chamber (3) having openings (4) in the opposite sides thereof, so as to allow the passages of silk yarn thereto. An inlet (4) is provided at the other side of the chamber and an outlet is provided on the opposite side of the chamber for supplying an exit of the steam into said chamber. During the process of treatment the silk yarn is passed through the chamber having the steam contained therein at the desired temperature mentioned herein above and thus the yarn passed through the chamber gets treated.
