FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a lateral chain assembly of flow wrap machine for preventing falling of biscuits in packs without gusseting.
BACKGROUND AND PRIOR ART DESCRIPTION
Lateral chain assembly for packs can be broadly categorized into two types: (i) lateral chain assembly for packs with gusseting and (ii) lateral chain assembly for packs without gusseting.
The existing mechanism of lateral chain assembly for packs with gusseting is shown in Figure 1 and the working of the device is described as follows:
(1) The lateral chain assembly (101) passes through the end seal station (102) and extends up to the out feed (103).
(2) A cam (104) is fitted on an inner side of lateral chain guide (105) to actuate and retract the front (106) and Teat (107) \ugs of lateral chain assembly.
(3) On the way of their travelling path, the front (106) and rear (107) lugs of lateral chain assembly (101) actuate and retract by the cam (104) fitted on guide of lateral chain assembly (101).
(4) When the front (106) and rear (107) lug are actuated by cam (104), they penetrate into sides of packs.
(5) The gusseting is formed on packs during sealing and cutting action at sealing position crimping jaws (108) due to penetration of lug.
(6) Subsequent to sealing, cutting and gusseting of packs, the lugs retract from the cam.
(7) The actuated lugs apart from forming the gusseting on packs (109), also, hold the biscuits till they retract from the cam. The biscuits are thus prevented from falling.
The existing mechanism of lateral chain assembly for packs without gusseting is explained in Figure 2 and the working of the device is described as follows:
1. The lateral chain (201) assembly (202) just ends before the end seal station (203). It does not pass through the end seal station (203) and beyond.
2. The front (204) and rear (205) lug of lateral chain assembly travel on the common track of lateral chain guide (206) and both of them return from the same returning location.
2

3. In order to get no gusseting effect in the packs, the lugs (204, 205) are required to be returned well before the sealing action.
4. Because both the lugs (204, 205) return at the same location well before sealing action at sealing position of crimping jaws (207), biscuits are not held in position in lack of lug grip.
5. The biscuits, therefore, fall in the pack.
Thus, there is a need to provide a lateral chain assembly of flow wrap machine for packs without gusseting that prevents falling of biscuits.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
The main object of the present invention is to provide a lateral chain assembly of flow wrap machine for packs without gusseting that prevents falling of biscuits.
Another object of the present invention is to provide two independent tracks for front lug and rear lug of lateral chain assembly which provides wrapping of packs without gusseting and also prevent the falling of biscuits in the packs.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
Accordingly, the present invention provides a lateral chain assembly having two independent tracks, one for the front lug and the other for the rear lug so that retraction of front lug and rear lug of lateral chain assembly occurs independent of each other at two different locations. The retraction of the front and the rear lug independent of each other and at two different locations prevent falling of the biscuits in the packs without gusseting.
STATEMENT OF THE INVENTION
According to present invention relates to a lateral chain assembly of flow wrap machine for
preventing falling of biscuits in packs without gusseting, said lateral chain assembly comprising of a lateral chain passing through an end sealing and crimping jaws station and extending up to an outfeed, said lateral chain being provided with a plurality of front and rear lugs for carrying forward stacks of biscuits formed thereupon and one or more cams being fitted on an inner side of the lateral chain for actuating retraction of front lug and rear lug separately at two distant points on their way towards the end sealing and crimping jaws station and wherein the front lug retracts first and thereafter the rear lug retracts.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS
In the drawings accompanying the specification,
Figure 1 represents the existing mechanism of lateral chain assembly for packs with gusseting.
Figure 2 represents the existing mechanism of lateral chain assembly for packs without
gusseting.
Figure 3 represents the newly developed mechanism of lateral chain assembly without gusseting.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PRESENT INVENTION
The Applicants have now developed an innovative concept of two independent tracks for front lug and rear lug of lateral chain assembly which will prevent the falling of biscuits in the packs without gusseting.
Accordingly, the present invention relates to a lateral chain assembly of flow wrap machine for preventing falling of biscuits in packs without gusseting, said lateral chain assembly comprising of a lateral chain passing through an end sealing and crimping jaws station and extending up to an outfeed, said lateral chain being provided with a plurality of front and rear lugs for carrying forward stacks of biscuits formed thereupon and one or more cams being fitted on an inner side of the lateral chain for actuating retraction of front lug and rear lug separately at two distant points on their way towards the end sealing and crimping jaws station.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the lateral chain rotates inside a lateral chain guide.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the front lug and the rear lug retract separately on their way towards the end sealing and crimping jaws station such that the front lug retracts first and at a position which is away from the end sealing and crimping jaws station and the rear end retracts after the front lug retracts and at a location which is closer to the end sealing and crimping jaws station as compared to the front lug.
In yet another embodiment of the present invention, the retraction of the front lug at a first position before the end sealing and crimping jaws station at a first time period causes the front portion to be sealed without gusseting and the retraction of the rear lug at a second position at a second time period causes the back portion of the packet to be sealed without gusseting and

prevents falling of the biscuits.
In still another embodiment of the present invention, the first time period and the second time periods at which the front and the rear lugs retract are closely spaced.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the present invention provides a lateral chain assembly having two independent tracks, one for the front lug and the other for the rear lug so that retraction of front lug and rear lug of lateral chain assembly occurs independent of each other at two different locations. The retraction of the front and the rear lug independent of each other and at two different locations prevent falling of the biscuits in the packs without gusseting.
Figure 3 shows a lateral chain assembly of flow wrap machine for preventing falling of biscuits in packs without gusseting, said lateral chain assembly (301) comprising of a lateral chain passing through an end sealing (302) and crimping jaws station (303) and extending up to an outfeed (304), said lateral chain (301) being provided with a plurality of front (305) and rear
(306) lugs for carrying forward stacks of biscuits formed thereupon and one or more cams
(307) being fitted on an inner side of the lateral chain (301) for actuating retraction of front lug (305) and rear lug (306) separately at two distant points on their way towards the end sealing (302) and crimping jaws (303) station and wherein the front lug (305) retracts first and thereafter the rear lug (306) retracts.
WORKING OF THE NEW DEVELOPED MECHANISM OF LATERAL CHAIN ASSEMBLY FOR PACKS WITHOUT GUSSETING
The working of the newly developed mechanism of lateral chain assembly for packs without gusseting is described blow:
1) The lateral chain assembly (301) passes through the end seal station (302) and extends up to the out feed (304).
2) We have designed two independent tracks (309, 310) on lateral chain guide (308) for retraction of front lug (305) and rear lug (306) of lateral chain assembly (301) independently at two different locations.
3) It is so designed that front lug (305) retracts before the end sealing station (302) and the rear lug (306) retracts after the front lug (305) is beyond the end sealing station (302).
5

Even though, the front lug (305) retracts just before the sealing station, there is still a grip of rear lug (306) on the pack till the rear lug retracts at a second location. (4) The tendency of falling of biscuits is overcome since the rear lug (306) retracts at a location at which the front lug (305) is beyond end sealing station (302) and the front portion of the packet has been sealed.
Thus with introduction of new developed mechanism, the gusseting is avoided and at the same time the falling of biscuits in pack is eliminated.
The new developed mechanism of lateral chain assembly for packs without gusseting is shown in Figure 3.
