Abstract | This invention relates to an improved process for cultivating BifiQobacterium bifidum under novel conditions. The culture medium consists of 10 to 15 g/l oftrypticase digest casein, 6 to 8 gil of beef extract, 6 to 15 gilof glucose, 4 gil of dipotassium hydrogen phosphate, 15 gil of sodium ascorbate, 0.5 g/l of lysine, 0.05 g/l of cytein hydrochloride, 1 to 5 g/l of polyoxyethylene sorbitol mono oleate, 1 to 5 g/l of growth promoters such as vitamins in an aqueous medium at a pH of about 6.8 at a temperature range of35 to 37°C. The biomass produced is harvested, centrifuged and freeze dried. |
