Title of Invention | A PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF A CLEANING COMPOSITION FOR UTENILS AND THE LIKE FROM INDUSTRIAL WASTE/BYPRODUCTS |
---|---|
Abstract | 1. A process of preparation of a cleaning composition for utensils and the like from industrial waste/by products, comprising the steps of neutralising linear alkyl benzene sulphonic acid (LAB) with sodium carbonate available as an Industrial by product, to a pH of 7; uniformly mixing upto 4.5% by wt. of the said neutralised LAB along with dried phosphogypsum obtained as industrial waste and 0.5 to 2 parts by wt. of at least one additive selected from sodium carbonate, sodium hypochlorite, sodium perborate, sodium silicate, sodium sulphate, sodium trlpolyphosphate and trisodium phosphate. |
Full Text | This invention relates to a process of preparation of a cleaning composition for utensils and the like from industrial waste/by products; and a cleaning preparation prepared by the said process. An object of this invention is to propose a process for the preparation of a cleaning composition which is cost saving and which at the same time yields a value added product. Another object of this invention is to propose a process for the preparation of a cleaning composition which is ecologically friendly, since industrial waste/by products which otherwise would have constituted pollutants are gainfully utilised, on a commercial scale, in producing a useful product for the common man. Yet another object of this invention is to propose a process as aforesaid which is simple and yet effective. Various other features of this invention will be apparent from the description thereof given hereunder. The process, according to this Invention, for the preparation of a cleaning composition for utensils and the like from Industrial waste/by products, comprises the steps of neutralising linear alkyl benzene sulphonlc acid (LAB) with sodium carbonate available as an industrial by product, to a pH of 7; uniformly mixing upto 4.5% by wt. of the said neutralised LAB along with dried phosphogypsum obtained as industrial waste and 0.5 to 2 parts by wt. of at least one additive selected from sodium carbonate, sodium hypochlorite, sodium perborate, sodium silicate, sodium sulphate, sodium trlpolyphosphate and trlsodlum phosphate. EXAMPLE Linear alkyl benzene sulphonlc acid (LAB) is neutralised to pH 7 by the addition of sodium carbonate which is obtained as a byproduct of the caprolactum/caustlc lye Industry. 3.5 parts by wt. of the neutralised LAB is uniformly mixed in a zigma blender with dried phosphogypsum which is a waste material formed during the reaction of trlcalclum phosphate with sulphuric acid to yield phosphoric acid. Actually, the waste phosphogypsum is available in the washed form having 20% to 25% water. The moist phosphogypsum is dried in tray/rotary driers or sundrled before blending the same with the neutralised LAB in the zlgma blender. Additives selected from sodium carbonate, sodium hypochlorite, sodium perborate, sodium silicate, sodium sulphate, sodium trlpolyphosphate and trisodium phosphate are also blended. In the abovementloned Example 0.5 to 2 parts by wt. of sodium carbonate and trisodium phosphate are also blended in the mix. The resulting composition has good cleaning and scouring properties useful in cleaning utensils and the like. The terms and expressions in this specification are of description and not of limitation having regard to the scope and ambit of this invention. We Claim: 1. 2. A process of preparation of a cleaning composition for utensils and the like from industrial waste/by products substantially as herein described. 3. A cleaning composition for utensils and the like whenever prepared by a process as claimed in any one of the preceding Claims. |
