Abstract | ABSTRACT Disclosed herein is a Perfume Dip Coating Machine for Agarbathies which comprises of a perforated basket to house the Raw Bathies, a lifting arrangement to move the basket up & down, a variable speed drive arrangement to provide rotation to the basket, with the help of which, Raw Bathies can be dipped in perfume liquid, lifted up clear of the liquid and spun at a high speed to remove excess liquid by centrifugal action. |
Full Text | This invention relates to a Perfume Dip Coating Machine For Agarbathies/Incense Sticks. The object of the present invention is to develop a Power operated Machine capable of uniformly coating un-perfumed Agarbathies / Incense Sticks with Perfume Liquid, in order to replace the labourious, time consuming process of manually coating un-perfumed Agarbathies / Incense Sticks with Perfume liquid. The present day mass production of Agarbathies involves: i) Making un-perfumed Agarbathies, hereinafter called "Raw Bathies" using Bamboo stick as the back bone, wood powder & charcoal powder as absorbent & burning matter & a suitable natural adhesive material as a binder. This may be done completely manually, partially by machines or by fully machanised process. ii) Coating liquid perfume on the "Raw Bathies" by manually dipping or sprinkling. This process slow and highly labour intensive. This invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein:- Fig. 1 illustrates the Perfume Dip Coating Machine of the present invention Fig.2 illustrates the arrangement of raw bathies in the basket. Fig 3. illustrates the variable speed drive arrangement for rotational movement of the basket and Fig. 4 illustrates lifting arrangement of the dip-coating machine of the present invention. From the figures the following can be seen: a) The perfume liquid (1) is stored in a cylindrical container (2) (called BARREL) b) Above the tank is a shallow, cylindrical, perforated Basket (3) in which. Raw Bathi, Bundles are arranged in a radial fashion with their bare bamboo base towards the centre. (See Fig.2) c) This basket (3) is mounted on square shaft (4). The square shaft (4) and the basket (3) are suspended fi-om a thrust bearing support block (10) Fig-4. The support block (10) has an eyebolt (11) to suspend the lifting arrangement. Through the eyebolt (11), the following means can be fixed so as to enable the basket to be lifted up or lowered down : -A reversible electric motor -A pneumatic or Hydraulic Cylinder. -A Cable and lever arrangement. The position of the baskets, the sequence, the timings, the speed of rotation are controlled electronically. d) The square shaft (4) is guided freely in square bushes (12) moimted on the hollow shaft (5) and the hollow shaft (5) is driven by an electric motor (6) through a set of pulleys (14). The hollow shaft (5) is mounted on bearings and is able to rotate freely. When the hollow shaft is rotated by a motor through belt & pulley arrangement (13) «fe (14) (refer Fig 3), the square shaft and thereby the basket also rotate. This arrangement provides rotary motion to the shaft and hence to the Basket. This, coupled with the mechanism described in 'C provides the basket with vertical (axial) and rotational movement capabilities. e) The Shaft is linked to the lifting arrangement (7) through a floating coupler (8), which allows free rotation of the shaft/basket while it is held up by the lifting arrangement. f) The entire arrangement is housed in a support structure (9). g) Using the mechanisms described in a to f, the process is designed as follows: g-1 The basket is held clear above the perfume liquid level. Bundles of Raw bathies are arranged in the Basket radially and secured by clamps. g-2 The basket is lowered and immersed in liquid perfume for a very brief period of time. g-3 The basket is lifted up clear above the liquid level quickly and rotation (spiiming) of basket is started immediately. g-4 The Basket is allowed to spin at a high speed, thereby removing excess perfume absorbed by the Raw Bathies. By varying the speed and duration of spinning, the quantity of perfume retained is controlled. g-5 The following features are incorporated in the design to control different parameters. - chilling arrangement at the bottom of Tank: to control viscosity of Perfume Liquid and to minimize evaporation of Perfume. - Variable speed motor for spinning: to control speed of spinning. - Timer: to control duration of spinning. Advantages of the Invention: The following are the main advantage of the Invention. 1) Ensures imiform application of perfume on the Raw Bathies 2) The quantity of perfume per given weight of Raw Bathies can be accurately controlled. 3) Very high productivity. The labour required is about 1/8* of manual process. 4) Skin contact with perfimie for workers is avoided. We Claim: 1. A perfume dip coating for agarbathies which comprises of a perforated basket to house the Raw Bathies, a lifting arrangement to move the basket up & down, a variable speed drive arrangement to provide rotation to the basket, with the help of which, Raw Bathies can be dipped in perfume liquid, lifted up clear of the liquid and spun at a high speed to remove excess liquid by centrifugal action. 2. A machine as claimed in claim 1, wherein the basket is mounted on square shaft, the square shaft and the basket being suspended from a thrust bearing support block which can be lifted up or lowered down by known devices such as reversible electric motor or a pneumatic or Hydraulic Cylinder or through a cable and lever arrangement. 3. A machine as claimed in claim 2, wherein the square shaft, which is being guided freely in square bushes mounted on the hollow shaft, is driven by the electric motor through a set of pulleys allowing the hollow shaft to rotate freely. 4. A machine as claimed in any one of Claims 1 to 3, wherein the shaft is linked to the lifting arrangement through a floating coupler, which allows free rotation of the shaft/basket while it is being held up by the lifting arrangement. 5. A machine as claimed in any one of Claims 1 to I+-, wherein the structure is fabricated out of steel and the barrel and basket are made of stainless steel. 6. A machine as claimed in any one of Claims 1 to 5, having chilling arrangement at the bottom of barrel, a variable speed drive for spinning and timer device to control duration of spinning of Basket. 7.
