PRIOR ART !-
Independent prefilter alongwhith independent water separator 13 uaed in diesel fuel injection pumps, which filter the fuel for dirt and remove the water respectively. As per the invention, it is desired both the acts are combined in a single integral filter unit, such that the water separator funnel and the filter element axe filtered in a single housing.
Generally in a diesel engine the function of the components of fuel injection system heavily depends on the quality of the luel flowing through the components. It is always preferable and recommended that the fuel be free of water components and dust free to avoid ineffcient combustion, poor startup and to increase the life of the components. The fuel delivered from the fuel supplied pump is past through the fuel filter system which has a water filtration unit and also a separate dust removal filter. The impuirity collected therein is disposed off and the clean fuel is moving on. The prior art does not allow the removal of filter element very easily when there is a need to replace the element due to the accumulation of dust on the filter element. The prior art has two basic disadvantage which is in the sense having two separate filter division and further filter element not been easily replaceable.
The known fuel filter has a cylindrical outer container in which «li annular or cylindrical filter element is disposed coaxially. The unfiltered fuel enters the top portion of the container through an upper plate having a

number of holes. The fuel then flows radially inward through the filter element to the middle of the filter where there is a threaded filter outlet concentric with the longltudinal axis of the filter.
Alternatively the filter inlet and outlet may be reversed such that the flow is radially outward through the filter element which however is beyond the scope of this invention. Pew examples are given below:-
In either event, water droplets fall to the bottom of the filter container where they are collected in a bowl removably connected there to by threads.
There have been several different technologies for mounting the filter element inside the filter. In all cases, however it is necessary to seal the filter element to the upper plate through which the fuel enters, in order to isolate the inlet and outlet flow paths.
Example 1 :- Compression spring disposed between bottom of filter element and base of outer container.
Example 2 :- Plastic annular threaded ring is provided in a bottom portion of the outer housing. Ring spaces the filter element from the bottom of the housing, has threads for attaching the collection bowl to the filter and may also direct contaminant flow into the collection bowl.

OBJECT OF THE INVENTION :-
Due to heavy contamination of the fuel made available in the market for automobiles there is an urgent need for a fuel filter system which is easy to construct, which is adaptable and in which the filter element is easily replaceable as frequently as decide by the user. There is a need for replaceable fuel filter assembly that is less expensive and easier to manufacture.
The object of the invention is to mount the fitment of water separator funnel and the filter element assembly in a single housing and such that integral assembly is attachable to the filter cover and is of replaceable type.
This invention relates generally to a replaceable filter assembly for a spin-on coalescing filter in which the filter element is suspended at a clearable firom the bottom of the housing, The typical spin-on fuel filter utilizes the centripetal forces of fluids to separate water from fuel oil;
An integral replace fuel filter assembly which is the Prefilter Cum Water Separator Assembly for Diesel fuel comprises of replaceable Exchange Fllter' lnsert Assembly for a spin-on coalescing filter within a sealed metal housing having a top cover plate assembly a bottom drain assembly and central two filtration assemblies and capable of being threaded onto filter cover assembly

via bushing threads, which bushing is part of filter cover assembly, so as to form a adngie integral Prefilter Cum Water Separator.
An integral replace fuel filter assembly which Prefilter Cum Water Separator Assembly for Diesel fuel comprising of replaceable Exchange Filter Insert Assembly for a spin-on coalescing filter enclosed in a totally sealed metal housing, screwed at the top end onto a filter cover assembly tluougji a threaded bushing provided on the filter cover assembly and at its bottom end having a drain pipe to drain off water.
DSSCRgTIOir OF THE HrVEWTIOlf :-
The integral replaceable filter assembly has a housing, which has a cover plate assembly crimped at the top with a hole at the top of the housing which communicate with the interior portion of the housing and has threads for replaceably mounting witli cover plate assembly. A Separation plate which is a perforated sheet metal plate, is welded onto a sheet metal funnel wliich in tvirn is welded into top cover plate Assembly. The sheet metal funnel is a water separator assembly. Further a filter element is mounted within the same housing including a top end cap and bottom end cap fixedly attached to a central filter medium which is a paper filter element. An inner fi.iel chamber is disposed inside the filter element while the outer fuel chamber is disposed between the filter element and the metal housing.

A mounting assembly is attached between the top portion of the housing and top end cap, thereby suspending the filter element from the perforated Metal plate at a clearance from the bottom of the housing. Such that the suspension assembly also seals the hole and inlet fuel chamber from the outlet fuel chamber.
A rubber sealing is disposed between the top end cap of filter element and the furm.el to ensure total sealing between filtered and unfiltered fuel.
Aa per the invention the contaminated fuel enters through the inlet and falls on the grooved perforated sheet metal funnel water particles being heavier than those of fuel retain the direction of flow longer, get separated from fuel and collect at the bottom of the housing to be drained off. The cone like structure of the funnel and the helical grooves increase the water separation efficiency. Thereafter fuel passes through the filter element for dirt separation. The entire assembly is spin-on type.
Further as per iovention filter unit is attachable to the filter cover througih a bushing. the bushing is a part of the filter cover assembly and the threads on the iimer side of the hole of the cover plate Assembly is screwed onto the bushing of filter cover assembly, thus achieving attachable and replaceable type filter.
