Abstract | The invention aims at providing a process for producing a-olefin low polymers in high yield. The invention relates to a process of conducting low polymerization of an a-olefin in a solvent in the presence of a chromium catalyst composed of a chromium compound (a), at least one nitrogenous compound (b) selected from the group consisting of amines, amides, and imides, and an aluminum-containing compound (c) in a reactor (10) in which a gas phase containing 0.010 to 50.00% by volume of an inert gas is present, wherein unreacted a-olefin and solvent separated from the reaction fluid are circulated to the reactor (10), and when the content of inert gas in the gas phase exceeds 50.00% by volume, the inert gas is discharged out of the reaction system at a spot in the gas-phase area of the reactor (10) and/or at a point of a pipe (21) for circulating unreacted a-olefin. |
