| Abstract | The present invention relates to Denial of Service (DOS) attack. In particular, the invention describes a method to detect a DOS attack at an early stage, which helps to minimize the ill-effects of the attack on the server. According to the method, a monotonically increasing random number is attached with a message sent by the client to the server. The server stores this random number and compares random numbers attached with any new data packet with the already existing random number values in its memory in order to detect an attack. |
