DEVICE FOR AUTOMATICALLY STOP AND START THE VIBRATION
AND WATER SPRINKLING ACTION IN A COMPACTOR
FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention relates to an auto vibration cutoff device for use in a
compactor, which is also responsible for automatic stopping and starting the
water sprinkle action in an operational compactor. The auto vibration cut off
device switches off the vibration and sprinkling mechanism when the speed
of the compactor reduces.
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
When the compactor is used for compaction of road edges or corners, and if
the vibration device provided in the compactor is in an operative position,
then the corners or end of the road is damaged. In compaction, the speed of
the compactor is approximately 6 kmph, and when the compactor reaches the
end of the road, the speed reduces and the driver makes a reverse pass. Often
the passes are run on asphalt. Water is sprayed continuously on the drum to
cool the drum. However, if water is continuously sprayed on hot asphalt, and
the compactor is stationary, it suddenly brings the temperature of asphalt
down, which is not desired.

OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
An object of this invention is to propose an auto vibration cut off device for
use in a compactor.
Another object of this invention is to propose an auto vibration cut off device
for use in a compactor which automatically stops and starts the sprinkling of
water on the rotatable drums.
Still another object of this invention is to propose an auto vibration cut off
device for use in a compactor which is efficient.
Further objects and advantages of this invention, including the method of
realizing auto switch-off/switch-on of vibration as well auto stop/start of
water sprinkle action, will be more apparent from the ensuing description.
STATEMENT OF INVENTION
According to this invention there is provided a device for automatically stop
and start the vibration and water sprinkling action in a compactor in action,
wherein it primarily comprising:
a) a common shaft for mounting of the actuating levers,
b) a cam mounted on said shaft,
c) said cam having a cam follower forming a part of a microswitch to
transmit a signal to a hydraulic vibration control and sprinkler
controller.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS
Further objects and advantages of this invention will be more apparent from
the ensuing description when read in conjunction with the accompanying
drawings and wherein:
Fig. 1 shows schematic view of the arrangement of shaft, control levers, cam
and other such devices towards realizing auto switch-off/switch-on of
vibration as well auto stop/start of water sprinkle action.

DETAIL DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION WITH REFERENCE TO THE
ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS:
Reference may be made to the Fig. 1. In accordance with this invention, the
device comprises a shaft (1) having a control lever (2) at either end for
controlling the speed and direction of drum. The shaft (1) has a cam (3) with
a cam follower (4). The cam follower (4) forms a part of a micros witch (5)
which sends a signal to a hydraulic vibration control valve for stopping the
vibration of drum and water sprinkling.
Actually, when a compactor makes forward and backward moves on a road
under construction, it performs vibration as well as water-sprinkling actions.
The driver operates the control levers (2) to control the speed and direction
of the compactor's drums. At the time of changing the direction of
movement of the compactor vehicle from forward to backward and vice-

versa, the drive acts to reduce compactor's speed and he operates lever(s)
mechanically.
When control lever (2) rests in one particular position, as may be
provisioned, the cam (3) of the shaft (1), say in forward position, remains in
contact with the cam follower (4) of the microswith (5), and thus said
microswith becomes capable of sends a signal to a hydraulic vibration
control valve for starting the vibration of drum and water sprinkling. Further,
when the driver operates any one of the control levers (2), the shaft (1)
moves to reverse position, and therefore cam (3) of shaft (1) changes its
position and loses its contact with the cam follower (4) of the microswitch
(5). Therefore, due to loss of contact between cam (3) and cam follower (4)
the microswitch (5) becomes unable in sending a signal to a hydraulic
vibration control valve for starting the vibration of drum and water
sprinkling. In this way, by operating the control levers (2) the driver of the
compactor vehicle not only controls the speed and direction of the drums, but
he also acts to automatic realization of switching off/on of the vibration as
well as stopping/starting of water sprinkle action.
Reference may be made to the Fig. 2. Further, the compactor has a seat
assembly (6). The seat is mounted on a platform (7) having a pair of rails (8)
extending in a first direction, namely the transverse direction. The seat has
engaging means (9) to slidably engage the transverse rails so as to allow a
movement of the seat in the transverse direction. Such a movement in the
transverse direction allows an operator to work on the side of the compactor.

(5). Therefore, due to loss of contact between cam (3) and cam follower (4)
the microswitch (5) becomes unable in sending a signal to a hydraulic
vibration control valve for starting the vibration of drum and -water
sprinkling. In this way, by operating the control levers (2) the driver of the
compactor vehicle not only controls the speed and direction of the drums, but
he also acts to automatic realization of switching off/on of the vibration as
well as stopping/starting of water sprinkle action.
The device for automatically stop and start the vibration and water sprinkling action in a
compactor, wherein the said device of the compactor which comprises a common shaft (1) for
mounting of the actuating or control levers (2) and a cam (3) mounted on said shaft (10) and the
said cam (3) having a cam follower (4), forming a part of a microswitch (5), to transmit a signal
to a hydraulic vibration control and sprinkler controller characterized in that the contact between
the said cam (3) and the cam follower (4) of the microswith (5) allows the said device to stop and
start the vibration automatically and water sprinkling action in a compactor.
The platform is mounted on a lower pair of rails (10). The platform has
cngageable means (11) to allow a slidable engagement of the platform with
said lower pair of rails and allow a movement of the seat in the second or
longitudinal direction.
It is to be noted that the present invention IS susceptible to modifications,
adaptations and changes by those skilled in the art. Such variant
embodiments employing the concepts and features of this invention are
intended to be within the scope of the present invention, which is further set
forth under the following claims:-
