Title of Invention

DEVICE FOR MAKING PROFILED AGARBATHIES

Abstract Disclosed herein is a device for making profiled agarbathies comprising : a)a profiled die having a variable bore depending the size and profile of the profiled agarbathi to be made, a tapered entry on one side to facilitate easy flow of Agarbathi batter. b)a bamboo stick guide having an internal bore to facilitate free movement of the stick, the bore diameter being slightly larger than that of the bamboo stick; c)an extruder barrel having a piston assembly to force the agarbathi batter contained there in through the die; and d)a housing to house the said profiled die, bamboo stick guide and the extruder barrel.
Full Text This invention relates to a device for making profiled agarbathies.
Conventionally Agarbathies are in elongated cylindrical form. Hitherto, it has not been known to make agarbathies in various forms and shapes. In other words "Profiling" of agarbathies is not known in the art.
Accordingly, it is the primary object of the invention to provide a device, which will help in making profiled Agarbathies with evenness and finer finish and also in many interesting shapes.
This invention will how be described with reference to the accompanying drawing, wherein Fig.l is the cross-sectional view of the device of the present invention.
Fig.2a, 2b, 2c, 2d & 2e are some samples of the proposed agarbathi produced using the device of the invention.
The device consists of a Housing 1. The lower portion of the Housing 1 houses an extruder barrel 2 and a bamboo stick guide 3. A profile die 4 is placed at one end of the guide 3. The bamboo stick guide 3 has a passage 5 through which the stick 6 will be sent inside during operation. It should be noted that various types of profile dies can be made depending on the shape of the agarbathies to be produced, for example, square faced, star faced, hexoganal faced, spiral shaped, triangular faced and clover shaped.
The extruder barrel 2 is provided with a piston 7 for applying the agarbathi batter 8 on the stick 6. The profile die 4 has also a passage 9 inside the barrel end through which the batter will be forced to enter for application on the stick 7. The bamboo stick guide 3 is placed in such a way that the end portion which is inside the extruder barrel is projecting inside the profile die 4.

This invention thus provides a device for making profiled agarbathies comprising :
1) a profiled die having a variable bore depending the size and profile of the
profiled agarbathi to be made, a tapered entry on one side to facilitate easy
flow of Agarbathi batter.
2) a bamboo stick guide having an internal bore to facilitate free movement of
the stick, the bore diameter being slightly larger than that of the bamboo stick;
3) an extruder barrel having a piston assembly to force the agarbathi batter
contained there in through the die; and
4) a housing to house the said profiled die, bamboo stick guide and the extruder
barrel.
The process of making the agarbathi is described hereinunder:
1. The Agarbathi batter comprising of Fragrance materials, Wood Powders, Adhesive,
Colouring and functional Additives is made using required amount of water to get
the right consistency.
2, The batter is loaded into the Barrel and Pressed down with the Piston till the Batter
completely fills the Housing Cavity and flows out of the end of the Profiled Die.
Pushing down the Piston is stopped. The batter being highly viscous (comparable to
Chappathi batter) it will not enter the narrow bore of Bamboo Stick Guide and will
only flow through the larger bore of the Profiled Die which offers lesser resistance
to flow.
3, The excess batter beyond the edge of the Profile Die scraped away using a sharp
knife. A Bamboo Stick is inserted through the Stick Guide, forced through the batter
in the Die. Now the Stick breaks through the batter and emerges as bare Stick. The
Stick is further pushed till we get the required length of bare Stick.
4. The Pressure on the Piston is now resumed. Now, the Batter starts flowing out of the
Die, and because of its tacky consistency and the tapered entry of the Die at the
inner end, the Batter carries the bamboo stick along with it. The pressure on the
piston is kept ON till the complete length of the stick and little more is extruded.

5. During the process of Extrusion, the bare end of the bamboo stick is lightly held.
The batter beyond the end of the Die is now sliced away and the wet Agarbathi is in
the operator's right hand.
6. The end of the wet stick is now gently placed on clean surface and the excess batter
beyond the end of bamboo stick is carefully cut away using a sharp knife.
7. The wet Stick into cleans and compacted in a flat tray for Drying.
8. The process nos. 3 to 5 are repeated.

I CLAIM:
1. A device for making profiled agarbathies comprising:
a) a profiled die having a variable bore depending the size and profile of the profiled
agarbathi to be made, a tapered entry on one side to facilitate easy flow of
Agarbathi batter.
b) a bamboo stick guide having an internal bore to facilitate free movement of the
stick, the bore diameter being slightly larger than that of the bamboo stick;
c) an extruder barrel having a piston assembly to force the agarbathi batter contained
there in through the die; and
d) a housing to house the said profiled die, bamboo stick guide and the extruder
barrel.
2. The device as claimed in claim 1, wherein the bamboo stick guide is placed in such a
way that the end portion inside the extruder barrel in projecting inside the profile
die 4.
