A PROCESS FOR PRODUCTION OF GAS DIFFUSION ELECTRODE AND THE ELECTRODE PRODUCED THEREBY

Abstract Summary The invention relates to a process for production of gas diffusion electrodes from a silver catalyzer based on PTFE substrate, where the pore system of the silvery catalyzer is filled with a wetting filling material, a dimensions table solid body with a grain size upper half of that of the silver catalyst is mixed under the silvery catalyst, this compression table mass so obtained is formed in a first calendar to a homogenous catalyst tape, in a second calendar in an electrically conductible charge eliminating material is embedded in the catalyzer tape, and between the first and second calendar a heating with the help of a heating device is carried out, in which at least part of the wetting filling material is stripped off, as well as the gas diffusion electrode produced after completion of the process (Figure 1).

Process for production of gas diffusion electrode from a silver catalyzer/catalyst made of PTFE-Substrate, where the pore system of the silver catalyst is filled with a wetting filler material, a dimension-table solid body with a grain size upper half of the silver catalyst is mixed under the silver catalyst, this compression-table mass is so obtained is formed in a first calendar to a homogenous catalyst tape, in a second calendaring operation, an electrically conductible charge eliminator material is embedded in the catalyzer tape is thereby characterized that between the first and the second calendar a heating is done with the use of a heater device during which at least parts of the wetting filler material are stripped off.

depression
- The capillary depression is brought about through an especially
hydrophobe catalyst surface
- The silver is applied as catalyst and the silver catalyzer is amalgamated
- The catalyzer is hydrophobed through an additional PTFE addition
