The following specification particularly describes the invention in which it is to be performed.



FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention relates to an algae production system. PRIOR ART
Farmers and scientists have been using raft type of open structures in the sea for cultivating marine Algae. People have taken up in land cultivation of useful Algae like spirulina in open ponds and cultivating the same for using as supplementary nutrition. Now, reference may be made to following known arts;
US 2008/0086939A1: is directed to a system and method are provided for growing algae with, improved photoefficiency. The system includes a bioreactor formed with a conduit for growing algae cells in a medium. Further, the system is provided with a means for moving the medium through the conduit at a predetermined fluid flow velocity. In order to ensure that algae cells are efficiently converting light energy to chemical energy, a plurality of barriers is positioned in the fluid stream. Specifically, the barriers are separated by predetermined distances to create von Karman vortices in the medium. As a result, algae cells are sequentially flowed to the surface of the fluid stream to receive light energy for predetermined intervals of time.
US 3986297: is directed to a sealed double tank assembly for use in artificially cultivating photosynthetic substances such as chlorella. Accelerated growth of highly pure culture is obtained by means of a combination of a plurality of nozzles to emit mixed gases of carbon dioxide and ammonia, sources of light for intermittent application of light


substantially similar to natural light, and agitator vanes for agitation of culture fluid in an inner tank, and an outer tank for temperature control.
US 4952 511; discloses a photobioreactor for the cultivation of photosynthetic microorganisms comprises a tank, one or more light compartments extending into the tank and one or more high intensity lamps whose light is directed into the light compartments. Each light compartment has at least one transparent wall and a means for distributing light from the lamp substantially uniformly across the transparent wall.
US 5 137 828: is directed to the production of biomass, such as algae, is carried out in a substantially transparent tube wound on an upstanding • core structure. The exterior surface of the tube is exposed to natural light and the tube and/or the core is adapted" to encourage light penetration into the tube in the region of contact between the tube and the core structure.
US 3 959 932: is directed to Water with algae and nutrients follow a meandering flow path, across which are established alternating, wide, dark and narrow, illuminating zones.
US 6 174 720B1: discloses a bioreactor apparatus for culture of living matter in a liquid medium includes a plurality of tubes connected at one end to a primary manifold section and at their other end to a secondary manifold section such that a flow of liquid containing the living matter can be established within the manifolds and tubes. The flow of liquid medium in such manifolds and/or tubes is capable of control by at least


one gas injection device in communication with the primary. manifold section and at least one gas injection device in communication with the secondary manifold section. Such an arrangement provides finer control of the flow conditions in the tubes forming part of the bioreactor and of the environmental conditions for culture of the living matter.; The arrangement can have a relative simplicity of design which also permits a reduction in the total number of tanks and/or control loops usually associated with bioreactor apparatus of this type.
US 7 176 024B2: is directed to A bioreactor assembly of the present invention for holding a media and supporting growth of a plurality of p]ants. The assembly includes a light source and a container having a light transmissive wall structure and defining a reservoir. A major axis of the reservoir is substantially horizontal allowing the reservoir to be filled with media to a partial level and to define a relatively large surface area for support of the plants. The assembly may also include clamps to secure and seal separate wall structure portions of the' container together, and end caps to the wall portions, to define an aseptic environment.; As another option, the clamps may define openings-therethrough that allow passage of various devices for measuring and controlling bioreactor function such as a gas supply nozzle, a gas exit nozzle, an air temperature probe, a pH probe, a sampling drain, a gas composition probe and-a media temperature probe.
US 6 492 149B1: relates to a method of improving the yield of a photobioreactor of the continuously operating recirculation type as a function of the species of micro-organism being cultured, of the thickness d of the chambers (10) of the reactor, and of the final concentration desired for the culture. In the method, transparent or


respecting particles (15): are introduced into the reaction medium (11), which particles are of a density that is substantially equal to that of the reaction medium, thereby adjusting absorbance of the microorganism culture to optimum levels. The invention is mainly applicable to culturing phototropic micro-organisms.
DRAWBACKS
The known systems have limitations with respect to productivity and utilization of various natural resources efficiently.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
The primary object of the present invention is to provide an algae production system which is efficient in production of algae.
Another object of the present invention is to provide an algae production system which can be batch as well as continuous system.
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide an algae production system which generates high productivity.
Still another object of the present invention is to provide an algae production system, operation of which is easy.
Further object of the present invention is to provide an algae production system which is cost-effective.


Yet another object of the present invention is to provide an algae production system which is easy and simple to fabricate and maintain.
Still another object of the present invention is to provide an algae production system which overcomes inefficient production of Algae and ■ problem of exhaust gas pollution.
Further object of the present invention is to provide an algae production system which is eco-friendly producing valuable products like biofuels, chemicals, biofertilizers, nutrition etc.
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide an algae production system which utilizes natural resources like sunlight, water, Algae and exhaust gas like CO2 for producing Algae.
Still another object of the present invention is to provide an algae production system which utilizes and reduces green house gases.
At the outset of the description, which follows, it is to be understood that the ensuing description only illustrates a particular form of this invention. However, such a particular form is only an exemplary embodiment, without intending to imply any limitation on the scope of this invention. Accordingly, the description is to be understood as an exemplary embodiment and teaching of the invention and not intended to be taken restrictively.


BREIF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
According to this invention, there is provided an Algae production system in a batch type of Algae Collector Design (ACD) and in a continuous or semi-continuous type of reactors (CAR) wherein the CAR comprises of a channel Algae pond covered with inflated plastics (UV stabilized Polyethylene/PVC, etc.), which is inflated by connecting with exhaust gas from diesel engine/power plant/air blower, etc. The pond or channel is lined with black plastics or paint and filled up with water (saline, brackish, etc.) and with suitable Algae species. Such a system helps to improve the productivity of Algae as it provides the right utilization of solar energy, water and exhaust gases-mainly CO2.
The CAR comprises of transparent plastic tubes filled up with jute/plastic net. Saline water is allowed to enter from the top of such a reactor and from the bottom gases are blown in a counter current manner. Algae species are allowed to grow on the packed material. The saline water exiting from the bottom is recycled through a collection pond.
Algae produced by both the types of reactor systems, is then processed through centrifuge and a press system to recover oil (for Biofuel) and/or other useful products like neutroceuticals, etc. and the left over pressed cake is further used as organic fertilizer, animal feed, etc. The entire system is environment-friendly and with a great deal of application potential to convert natural resources like the solar energy, water, algae, etc to high value and useful products like Biofuel, nutrition, etc.


Water (saline and brackish) is taken from a water pond and pumped through tubes viz. CAR. In ACD, the water is kept in channel for several days before harvesting of the Algae. The inflated plastic film helps conserve solar energy and utilizes C02 from the exhaust gases for the better and faster growth of Algae species. At regular interval of the time, the Algae is harvested for further process for centrifuge /drying followed by extraction of oil or other useful products.
The second or parallel stream of warm saline water is taken to continuous/semi-continues Algae reactor (CAR). Such a water is pumped through a common header to a number of CAR reactors packed with proper media like jute/plastic net/packed pebbles, etc. Such media helps in closer interaction and more residence time (RT) for the water and exhaust gases, which have entered from the bottom. The transparent tubes/film improves use of solar energy falling on the Algae species for accelerating the growth of Algae production.
A number of CAR reactors are clamped through a common header at the top as well as bottom. The produced biomass from such reactors are taken for processing through centrifuge, dryer, etc. and then through the press for producing Algae biofuel and biomass.
In this process, the saline water (sea, brackish, municipal, etc) is pumped from the source of the batch type of ACD. Suitable species of Algae is kept in this collector and because of the favourable condition with respect to solar energy, exhaust gas (C02, etc) and the closed system, the growth of Algae is favourable and fast. The water in the process gets heated by solar energy as in typical solar water heater. This water is available for the continuous. Algae reactor (CAR), ASLO. In the continuous Algae reactor, warm saline water is pumped from a common

inlet pipe and from the bottom, the exhaust gas/air is blown in a counter current fashion. This greatly helps in the growth of Algae species. It can be removed at intervals for further centrifuging/drying putting it through a press for extraction oil/chemicals/liquid fertilizer; etc. Deoiled cake is utilized as fertilizer/animal feed, etc.
A number of Algae species can be grown in this system depending on the end-use requirements.
Features of the present invention
• The present invention makes efficient utilization of solar energy, water and Algae species using exhaust gases in a closed system.
• Inflated plastic film (in ACD reactors) considerably helps for utilizing solar energy more efficiently.
• Continuous Algae Reactors (CAR) using transparent plastic films and unique packing material help high growth of Algae and at the same time removal of green house gas like C02.
• A batch reactor (ACD) acts as solar collector for capturing sunlight in inflated plastic film.
• A novel continuous reactor (CAR) from transparent plastic film is packed as an efficient Bioreactor.
• A simple but effective design, which is easy to fabricate and maintain.
