| Abstract | The invention relates to a system and a method for reordering and delivering data from a lower layer to a higher layer to improve data throughput and system performance. The invention describes a reordering entity that has been introduced between the HARQ entity at the access terminal and the higher protocol layer. The reordering entity uses the information provided by the HARQ entity for each HARQ channel, to provide the packets to the higher layers in a correct sequence. The reordering entity receives packets from the HARQ entity and detects the missing packets based on the information received for each HARQ channel from the HARQ entity. It stalls the delivery of packets which are received till the missing packets are received and all the received packets can be placed in correct sequence. The received packets, which are stalled by the HARQ entity, are delivered after the missing packets are confirmed to be either received or lost. |
