FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention relates to fuel system of vehicle and more particularly it relates to butter fly valve of fuel tank.
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
Generally in existing vehicles filler neck is provided without any butter fly valve. In case of vehicle where fuel filling height is sufficient then there is no fuel spillage. But where the height of fuel filling is less then while vehicle running or in taking turn fuel spills from the fuel tank. In case of vehicle topples or in case of accident fuel spills from the fuel tank and there is possibility of vehicle catching fire. This is not desirable. So in order to prevent fuel from spillage where the fuel filling height is less some provision is required to avoid the fuel spillage.
This invention has been developed to prevent the fuel spillage from fuel tank where the fuel filling height is less and during the vehicle running, turning, toppling and in case of accident.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION
Referring now to the drawings wherein the showings are for the purpose of illustrating a preferred embodiment of the invention only, and not for the purpose of limiting the same.
Figure 1- shows the fuel tank mounting on the vehicle Figure 2 - shows the assembly of filler neck of fuel tank. Figure 3 - shows the filler neck tube of fuel tank Figure 4 - shows the assembly of butter fly valve of fuel tank Figure 5 - shows the butter fly valve body of fuel tank Figure 6 - shows the flaps of butter fly valve
Now referring to figures 1 to 6 in accordance with this invention fuel tank assembly mounted at its position on vehicle structure (4) comprises fuel tank (1), filler neck assembly (2) and hose (3).
5

Filler neck assembly (2) is connection pipe of said fuel tank (1) and fuel filling opening through which fuel is filled and is fitted on fuel tank assembly of a vehicle.
Hose (3) is disposed between fuel tank (1) and filler neck assembly (2) to provide intermediate means to supply fuel to the fuel tank (1) during fuel filling.
Filler neck assembly (2) comprises:
Filler neck tube (5) is pipe connection to supply the fuel in the fuel tank which is
having two ends. At one end fuel tank cap is provided and at other end butter fly
valve is fitted where at least two dimples (7) are provided on said filler neck
tube(5).
Filler neck tube (5) comprises at least two dimples (7) which fits in to the groove (8) provided on the valve body (9).
Dimples (7) in the filler neck tube (5) are equal in number to the grooves (8) provided on the valve body (9) where said dimples (7) are accommodated in to the said grooves (8) during assembly of said valve body (9) in to the said filler neck tube (5).
Valve Body (9) comprises grooves (8) for fitment of said butter fly valve assembly(6), slot (11) for providing pivot (13) for rotation of said flaps, resting means (14) for preventing the reverse rotation of said flaps (10) and resting said flaps to its closed position.
Butter fly valve assembly (6) disposed at the other end of the filler neck tube (5), which comprises at least two flaps (10) to prevent fuel spillage, pivot (13) for
6

rotating said flaps (10) about said pivot axis, stopper (12) for preventing rotation of said flaps beyond 75 degree to 90 degree and for providing sufficient opening for fuel flow during fuel filling, recess (15) for providing space for said stoppers while rotation of said flaps during fuel filling.
At least two dimples (7) are provided on filler neck tube (5) opposite to each other for inserting butter fly valve assembly (6) from bottom of said filler neck tube (5) which will be locked in groove (8) which is provided on said valve body (9). Said grooves are same in number as dimples provided on said filler neck tube.
Valve Body (9) comprises at least two grooves (8) for fitment of said butter fly valve assembly (6), slot (11) for providing pivot (13) for rotation of said flaps (10) during fuel filling , resting means(14 ) is provided for resting of said flaps on it and for preventing the reverse rotation of said flaps while fuel filling is stopped. Said flaps rests on the said resting means due to its own weight.
Resting means (14) provided on the valve body (9) are perpendicular to the side wall of the said valve body (9).
Said flaps (10) are semi circular in shape integral with the said pivot (13) and comprises stopper (12) and recess (15).
Said flaps (10) which are integral with said pivot (13) are fitted in slot (11) provided on valve body (9).
Said flaps (10) are freely rotated about pivot (13) axis due to fluid pressure during fuel filling up to 75 degree to 90 degree to provide sufficient openings for fuel flow supplied during fuel filling.
7

Said flaps (10) are resting on resting means (14) provided on valve body (9) to prevent the reverse rotation of said flaps and for resting said flaps in its closed position.
Said flaps (10) rest automatically on said resting means (14) by its own weight due to gravity.
The stopper (12) are provided on said pivot (13) for restricting the rotation of said flap beyond 75 degrees to 90 degree to provide enough openings for fuel flow during fuel filling.
The recess (15) is provided on the said flaps to provide space for stopper (12) while flap rotation during fuel filling.
The butter fly valve is made with fuel resistant plastic material, polymer preferably Polyacetal (Co polymer) IS 7078. So it is easy to assemble or handle and said butter fly valve assembly is less in weight.
During fuel filling said flaps (10) will open because of fuel pressure and will rotate about the said pivot (13) axis to provide space for fuel flow during fuel filling. After completion of fuel filling said flaps (10) will be closed by its own weight and will rest on said resting means (14) provided on the said valve body (9). Said flaps (10) are closed by its own weight as the position of the butter fly valve assembly (6) is in such a way that said flaps (10) always remains closed in said valve body while fitted on the filler neck tube (5) of vehicle. So during running or dynamic condition of vehicle fuel does not spill.
