PREAMBLE TO THE DESCRIPTION
The following specification particularly describes the invention and the manner in which
it is to be performed.

FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention relates to fuel tank mounting arrangement for vehicles and more particularly it relates to suspended type fuel tank mounting arrangement for vehicles.
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
Conventional fuel tank mounting arrangements of vehicle have brackets mounted on frame to mount fuel tanks on vehicles; in most of the cases "L" type or "C" type brackets are used for the said purpose which are shown in figs. 1(a) & 1(b) respectively.
Referring to fig. 1(a) wherein said "L" type brackets (b) are provided on frame (a), fuel tank (c) is mounted on said brackets (b) with the help of straps (d). This type of arrangement is normally preferred for mounting single piece rolled type fuel tank.
Referring to fig. 1(b) wherein said "C" type brackets (e) are provided on frame (a), fuel tank (c) is mounted on said brackets (e). This type of arrangement is normally preferred for mounting two piece type fuel tanks.
The drawback associated with this type of mounting arrangement is it is very difficult to use this system for vehicles having monocoque frame and is not economical.
OBJECTS OF THIS INVENTION
The main object of this invention is to provide a single piece suspended type fuel tank mounting arrangement for both ladder type as well as monocoque frame type vehicles.

Yet another object of this invention is to provide a suspended type fuel tank mounting arrangement for vehicles where there is a space and packaging constraints.
Yet another object of this invention is to provide a suspended type fuel tank mounting arrangement for vehicles, which is easy to mount and de-mount.
Yet another object of this invention is to provide a suspended type fuel tank mounting arrangement for vehicles, which is simple in construction and cost effective.
STATEMENT OF INVENTION
A suspended type fuel tank mounting arrangement for vehicles comprises of at least two strap assemblies, hooking units, hook mounting brackets and supporting brackets wherein hook mounting brackets are provided on one side of vehicle structure and supporting brackets are provided on top surface of said vehicle structure, one end of said strap assembly is rigidly fitted to another side of vehicle structure and other end of said strap assembly is adjustably fitted to said hook mounting brackets and fuel tank is held in its position by placing tank on said strap assembles.
A suspended type fuel tank mounting arrangement for vehicles wherein said strap assembly consists of a metallic strap provided with a bracket at one end and other end is having a provision to rigidly mount on vehicle structure.
A suspended type fuel tank mounting arrangement for vehicles wherein one surface of said metallic strap is embedded with rubber lining.

A suspended type fuel tank mounting arrangement for vehicles wherein one end of said hooking unit is bent with a desired profile to remain unaltered from its position on mounting with bracket and another end is provided with a suitable threading.
A suspended type fuel tank mounting arrangement for vehicles wherein said fuel tank is provided with ribs on its outer surface at different locations to prevent sliding of fuel tank from its position.
A suspended type fuel tank mounting arrangement for vehicles wherein bottom surface of said supporting brackets is embedded with rubber lining.
Vehicle provided with suspended type fuel tank mounting arrangement.
Method of mounting a suspended type fuel tank on vehicles comprises following steps:
a) Mounting at least two strap assemblies rigidly at one end of vehicle structure;
b) Fitting at least two hooking units on hook mounting brackets provided on vehicle structure;
c) Holding fuel tank against supporting brackets provided on vehicle structure by fitting strap assemblies through brackets to hooking unit at its end;
d) Routing the strap assembly through ribs provided on said fuel tank;
e) Tightening the nuts provided on hooking units to fix the fuel tank at its position.
Method of mounting a suspended type fuel tank on vehicles wherein said strap assemblies are rigidly mounted at one end of vehicle structure in such a way that metallic surface of said strap assemblies should come in contact with vehicle structure at point of contact.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION
A suspended type metallic fuel tank mounting arrangement for vehicles in accordance with this invention basically comprises of at least two strap assemblies, hooking units, hook mounting brackets and supporting brackets wherein said strap assembly consists of metallic strap, one surface of said strap is embedded with rubber lining and one end of said strap is provided with a bracket to act as a intermediate link between strap and hook, another end is provided with a provisions to mount on vehicle structure.
Hooking unit with two ends, one end of which is bent with a desired profile to remain unaltered from its position on mounting with bracket and another end is provided with a suitable threading.
Hook mounting brackets and supporting brackets are provided on vehicle structure to mount hooks and support the fuel tank respectively.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION
Referring now to the drawings wherein the showings are for the purpose of illustrating a preferred embodiment of the invention only, and not for the purpose of limiting the same
Fig. 1 (a): Shows a prior art of mounting arrangements of fuel tank with "L" Type bracket mounted on frame
Fig l (b): also shows a prior art of mounting arrangements of fuel tank with "C" Type bracket mounted on frame

Referring to figs. 2 to 4
A suspended type metallic fuel tank mounting arrangement for vehicles in accordance with this invention basically comprises of at least two strap assemblies (1), hooking units (2), hook mounting brackets (3) and supporting brackets (4) wherein said strap assembly consists of metallic strap (5), one surface of said strap is embedded with rubber lining (6) and one end of said strap is provided with a bracket (7) to act as a intermediate link between strap (5) and hook (2), another end (8) is provided with a provisions to mount on vehicle structure( 13).
Hooking unit (2) with two ends, one end (9) which is bent with a desired profile to remain unaltered from its position on mounting with bracket (3) and another end (10) is provided with a suitable threading.
Hook mounting brackets (3) and supporting brackets (4) are provided on vehicle structure (13) to mount said hooks and support fuel tank (11) respectively.
One surface of strap assembly (1) is embedded with rubber lining (6) to avoid metal to metal contact between strap assembly (1) & fuel tank (11) in turn which helps in avoiding digging of strap assembly (1) on fuel tank (11).

At one end (8) of strap assembly (1) a suitable size nut is welded for ease in mounting of said strap assembly on vehicle structure. Ribs (12) are provided at different locations on fuel tank (11) to guide the strap assembly (1) during mounting of fuel tank on vehicle structure and to prevent sliding of fuel tank from said assembly.
Method of mounting suspended type fuel tank on vehicle comprises following steps:
a) Mounting at least two strap assemblies (1) with end (8) on vehicle structure (13) with the help of suitable fasteners in such a way that metallic surface of said strap assembly should come in contact with vehicle structure at point of contact;
b) Fitting at least two hooking units (2) on hook mounting brackets (3) provided on vehicle structure (13) through hooking unit end (9);
c) Holding fuel tank (11) against supporting brackets (4) provided on vehicle structure (13) by fitting strap assembly (1) through bracket (7) to hooking unit (2) at its end
(10);
d) Tightening the nuts (14) provided on hooking unit (2) to fix the position of fuel tank
(11), while tightening sufficient care should be taken in such a way that the said strap
assembly (1) should be routed through ribs (12) provided on said fuel tank to avoid
sliding of fuel tank.
