Title of Invention

"A NOVEL BIO FUEL FOR USE AS A SOURCE OF ENERGY FOR C.I. ENGINE"

Abstract This invention relates to a novel bio fuel composition for use as a source of energy for C.I. Engine comprising 80-60% of diesel oil and 20-40% of turpentine oil, characterized by the said turpentine oil blended with diesel oil thereby decreasing consumption of fuel such as for 15 kg load decrease of fuel is upto 0.00 to 0.22 1/hour.
Full Text FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention relates to a novel bio fuel for use as a source of energy for C.I. Engine. BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
It is known to provide vegetable oils as an alternative to diesel oil since they are renewable and can be produced in rural areas. Some non edible oils are rice bran oil, neem oil, saal oil, rapeseed oil. But in some respect the properties of vegetable oils differ from diesel oil. The volatility of vegetable oils is quite low, the cetane number is lower than diesel oil. Viscosity of vegetable oils at room temperature is much higher as compared to diesel oil due to which the atomization of vegetable oils in combustion chamber becomes difficult and creates cold start problem so it requires changes in the injection system. The poor volatility makes vegetable oils difficult to vaporize and ignite. This leads to high smock emission and carbon deposits in the combustion chamber. These oils are also not miscible in diesel oil and require surfactants.
Turpentine oil is extracted from pine trees, which are abundant in nature. These volatile substances provide plant and flower with much of their fragrance and some of these are used commercially in perfumes and flavours. The wood of this pine tree is used as a torch in night in traditional way.ADVANTAGES/IMPROVEMENT OVER PRIOR ART
To the best of our knowledge turpentine oil as an additive to diesel has not been used as a fuel for diesel engine.
Experiments conducted with blending of turpentine oil with diesel indicated that efficiency of the engine improves as compared to pure diesel. If a mixture of 40% turpentine oil and 60% diesel is used.
SUMMERY OF INVENTION
Experiments conducted with blending of turpentine oil with diesel oil indicated that efficiency of the engine improves upto 15% as compared to pure diesel oil if a mixture of 20-40% turpentine oil and 80-60% diesel oil is used.
Experiments conducted with blending of turpentine oil with diesel oil indicated that fuel consumption for 15 kg load decreases up to 0.00 to 0.22 1/hr at the ratio of 20-40% turpentine oil and 80-60% diesel oil in comparison to 100% diesel oil at 15kg load.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
An object of this invention is to propose a novel bio fuel for use as a source of energy for C.I. Engines.
Another object of this invention is to propose a novel biofuel for use as a source of energy for C.I. Engines containing turpentine oil. Still another object of this invention is to propose a novel biofuel for use as a source of energy for C.I. Engines and, wherein, turpentine is miscible with diesel oil.
Yet another object of this invention is to propose a novel biofuel for use as a source of energy for C.I. Engines, which provides a reduction in fuel efficiency.
A further object of this invention is to propose a novel biofuel for use as a source of energy for C.I. Engines, which provides an improvement in brake thermal efficiency.
DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION
According to this invention, there is provided a novel bio fuel composition for use as a source of energy for C.I.
Experiments conducted with blending of turpentine oil with diesel oil indicated that efficiency of the engine improves from 0 to 15% as compared to pure diesel oil if a mixture of 20-40% turpentine oil and 80-60% diesel oil is used.
Experiments conducted with blending of turpentine oil with diesel oil indicated that fuel consumption for 15 kg load decreases up to 0.00 to 0.22 1/hr at the ratio of 20-40% turpentine oil and 80-60% diesel oil in comparison to 100% diesel oil at 15 kg load.
