COMPLETE : The following specification particularly describes the invention and the manner in which it is to be performed.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION:
This invention relates to a novel prism mount adapter.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION:
Prism mounts available to date make the prism to rest on their triangle surface. The tilting of the prism is done by titing the mounted surface using fine threaded screws. However, devices are available from ThorLabs, USA and Altechna, Lithuania in which the prism can be mounted on the triangular surface and tiled in a plane parallel to the beam reflecting surface. However, this does not give the right-angled prism a rigid and a stable mounting for using the unl at an angle like in a periscope.
There are some major drawbacks in the available mounts. The prism in a conventional mount cannot be mounted at any angle or in a hanging position for laser beam steering, as there is no rigid arrangement to hold the prism wlhout falling. Further, the tilting plane is perpendicular to the light reflecting surface; therefore, it is not convenient for toe user to have a realistic feei for the beam turning and the titing screws. If the reflecting plane is not aligned properly wlh the titing axes, the laser beam moves differently. Therefore, it is not at all convenient to use such prism mount adapters.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION:
An object of this invention is to propose a novel prism mount adapter.
Another object of this invention is to propose a novel prism mount adapter having rigid and stable mount to fix a prism that can be removed easily when required.
Further object of this invention is to propose a novel prism mount adapter having a reflecting plane of the right angle prism parallel to the tiling surface.

Stil another object of this invention is to propose a novel prism mount adapter in which the prism along with the adapter can be rotated to any position for laser beam steering.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION:
According to this invention there is provided a novel prism mount adapter for a prism (4) comprising a base plate (7) having a rectangular groove (7b) to center the said prism (4), having removable positioning rods (5) a prism (4) to be positioned, a horizontal channel support (3) adapted to bear against an apex of the prism (4), a horizontal support bar (2) disposed above of said channel support (3), fasteners (1) adapted to hold said prism (4), said fasteners (1) adapted placed perpendicular to the flat surface of the said base plate (7) and to said extend through said channel support and horizontal support.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PRESENT INVENTION:
The prism mount adapter of the present invention has an advantageous application with reference to a right angle prism. The mount comprises of a circular base plate (surface blackened by any process e.g. anodizing) (7) for receiving two positioning rods (surface blackened by any process) (5). A rectangular washer (6) Is disposed between the prism (4) and base plate (7). A horizontal C-channel soft support (3) is adapted to rest on the apex of prism (4), support (3) and horizontal support (2) positions prism (4) through two screws (1) used to hold the biggest

surface of a right-angled prism (4) paralelto the flat surface of the base plate (7), said support (2) having a surface blackened by any process e.g. anodizing. The base plate (7) is to be fixed Ike a mirror to a standard mirror mount. This adapter makes a mirror mount hold a right-angle prism (4) in place of a mirror and use the mirror mount to turn laser beam by 90° using right-angle prism (4) and using the properties of total internal reflection. Base ptate (7) has a side U-type groove (7a) for a locking screw(s) of the mirror mount to be tightened against i. This gives it a firm support to the mount in any positions and can take the necessary load.
The adapter fixes the prism (4) rigidly at any angle but at the same time can be removed for cleaning and servicing. Prism (4) can also be used in a hanging position. The adapter makes the prism reflecting surface paralel to the tlting surface, like a mirror, which gives the user to feel Ike a mirror to align the laser beam. There is no other known prism mount, which can do all these jobs wlhout gluing the prism to a mount.
By way of example, aluminum aloy 0S6443O)maybe employed for the base plate (7), and brass may be used for side rods (5). PTFE may be used for rectangular washer (6) and the C-channei soft support (3) for the prism (4). Standard aluminum may be used for the horizontal support bar (2) which gives rigidly to the soft support (3) that holds the prism (4) against the base plate (7). The cheese head screws (1)are made out of stainless steelAISI 304.

WE CLAIM
1. A novel prism mount adapter for a prism (4) comprising a base plate (7) having removable positioning rods (5) a prism adapted to be poslioned, a horizontal channel support (3) adapted to bear against an apex of the prism, a horizontal support bar (2) disposed above of said channel support, fasteners adapted to hold said prism, said fasteners adapted placed perpendicular to the flat surface of the said base plate (7) and to said extend through said channel support and horizontal support.
2. A mount adapter as claimed in claim 1 wherein said base plate (7) has a side U-rype groove (7a) for a locking screw(s) of the mirror mount to be tightened against X.
3. A mount adapter as claimed in claim 1 wherein the said base plate (7) has a rectangular groove (7b) to centre the said prism (4) to the center of the base plate (7).
4. A mount adapter as claimed in claim 1 wherein said horizontal channel support (3) is a soft support.
5. A mount adapter as claimed in claim 1, comprising a washer (6) disposed between said base plate (7) and the prism (4).
6. A mount adapter as claimed in claim 1, wherein the said base plate (7) is made of aluminum alloy.
7. A mount adapter as claimed in claim 1 wherein the said rods (5) are made of brass.
8. A mount adapter as claimed in claim 1 wherein said washer (6) and soft support (3) is made ofPTFE.
9. A mount adapter as claimed in claim 1 wherein the said channel support (3) aligns the prism apex ine (4a) to the centre of the base plate (7).
10.A mount adapter as claimed in claim 1 operates Hke a mirror to turn the
laser beam by approximately 90°. 11 .The plane of turning of the beam can be changed by using the reference of
the graduations on the base plate (7) either clockwise or anti-clockwise.
