Abstract A center stand for a two wheeler vehicle consisting of a box type cast structure of varying cross section, said structure comprismg a flat region at the top for the veliicle frame to be seated on; a through hole in the structure, below the flat region, for providing a pivoted joint for the frame; a bridge portion for the structure, with two divergent legs for supporting the frame on the ground, in tlie working position of tlie stand, the structure, at the bridge portion, having a ribbed section and a box section respectively, while each leg portion has a C-section, all ftjmishing adequate fatigue life and strengtli to the said stand.

This invention relates to a center stand for a two wheeler vehicle.
The center stand is one of the essential parts of a vehicle, the function of
which is to keep the vehicle in stable and static position; when not in use.
The center stands known to the art are prone to this common drawback namely that they have a short fatigue life, mainly because the known center stand is made up of a number of welded joints, which gradually give way over a period of use.
Welded joints are also prone to create dimensional and structural inaccuracies, which require to be set riglit at a later stage necessitating reworking; and resulting in waste of time, labour and money.
It is therefore an object of this invention to propose a center stand as aforesaid which considerably reduces the use of welded joints in the center stand, produces a stronger and more durable center stand needing little attention for its upkeep.
Other advantages and features of this invention will be apparent from the following fiirtlier description thereof given hereunder.
The centre stand for a two wheeler vehicle according to this invention consists of a box type cast structure of varying cross section, said box type structure comprising a flat region at the top for the vehicle frame to be seated on; a througli hole in the stnicture, below the flat region, for

providing a pivoted joint for tlie frame; a bridge portion for the shiicture, with two divergent legs for supporting die frame on the ground, in the working position of die stand, the structure, at the bridge portion, having a ribbed section and a box section respectively, while each leg portion has a C-section, all furnishing adequate fatigue life and strength to the said stand.
This invention will now be described with reference to the single Figure in the accompanying drawings which illustrates, by way of example and not by way of limitation, one of the various possible embodiments of the center stand proposed herein.
The embodiment will be seen to comprise a box type cast structure 12 of varying cross section.
The said box type structure comprises a flat region 12A at its top for the vehicle frame to be seated on.
A tlirough-hole 12 B below the flat region 12A is provided for a pivot joint to pivotably fix the center stand 12 to the vehicle frame. In other words, the through-hole 12B enables a pivot pin to pass through, pivoting the center stand structure 12 to the frame of the vehicle, to pivotably move the stand to its rest position when not in use and to pivotably move die stand into working position when it is required to support the vehicle.

The embodiment will be seen to have a bridge 12C with two divergent legs 12D 12D for enabling the center stand to stably rest on the ground in the working position of the stand.
The portions of the structure at the bridge 12C have a ribbed section BB and a box section at CC respectively (see drawing), adjacent to each other, while each leg portion 12D has a C-section at AA (see drawing). All these said sections fimiish adequate fatigue Ufe and strength to the said center stand during its use. It will be appreciated that welded joints are totally avoided in making up the structure, thus obviating the drawbacks, set out above, with respect to tlie constitution of tlie structure.
12E is a slot for engaging a spring with the stand for reverting the stand to rest after use.
A foot rest pipe 12F is fixed to the bottom of a leg 12D to enable the rider to erect the vehicle on the stand.
12G indicates the bottom most portion of tlie leg which contacts the ground when the vehicle is on the stand.
The terms and expressions herein are of description and not of limitation, since various otiier embodiments of tliis invention are possible without departing from the scope and ambit thereof






We Claim:
1 .A center stand for a two wheeler vehicle consisting of a box type cast structure of varying cross section, said structure comprismg a flat region at the top for the veliicle frame to be seated on; a through hole in the structure, below the flat region, for providing a pivoted joint for the frame; a bridge portion for the structure, with two divergent legs for supporting the frame on the ground, in tlie working position of tlie stand, the structure, at the bridge portion, having a ribbed section and a box section respectively, while each leg portion has a C-section, all ftjmishing adequate fatigue life and strengtli to the said stand.
2. A center stand for a two wheeler vehicle wherein a foot rest pipe is attached to the bottom end of a leg.
