Title of Invention | NOVEL NON-CONTINUOUS TYRE TUBE FOR TWO WHEELED VEHICLES |
---|---|
Abstract | The present invention provides a novel non-continuous tyre tube for two wheeled vehicles comprising a non-continuous chamber made of a flexible material, said chamber being sealed at both ends thereof and forming an air cushion, inlet means being provided on one wall of the tube for inlet of air to convert the tube from a first collapsed state to a second inflated state. |
Full Text | Field of the invention The present invention relates to a novel non-continuous tyre tube for two wheeled vehicles. More particularly, the present invention relates to novel tyre tubes for two wheeled vehicles such as motorcycles, which enables easy replacement of tyres in the event of a puncture. Background of the invention Two wheeled vehicles have a specific tyre construction. Such vehicles designed for normal everyday use have tyres provided with an inner tube filled with air that acts as an air cushion to provide a comfortable ride and minimizes the stress and strain on a vehicle due to road conditions. A significant problem that besets all forms of automotive transportation is that of deflation of the tyres and tubes therein due to contact with any sharp object or hard object resulting in perforation., this is generally known by users as 'puncture' and results in tremendous loss of time in repair operations. Most two wheeled vehicles are provided with an additional (spare) tyre for use as a replacement of the punctured tyre. However, in some categories of two-wheeled vehicles, particularly those with a large wheel radii, providing such spare tyres is not feasible due to reasons of lack of space or adverse effect on the aesthetics of the vehicle. For example, motorcycles are rarely provided with spare tyres due to the effect of the spare tyre on the aesthetics, on availability of space and adverse effect on balance of the vehicle as well. Replacement of tyres in the event of a puncture is beset by several disadvantages for the average user. Trained assistance is not always available promptly and on-site. This is particularly important since incorrect replacement of tyres affect the balance of the two-wheeled vehicle, thereby affecting the control and safety feature of the I claim: 1. A novel non-continuous tyre tube for two wheeled vehicles characterized in that it comprises a non-continuous chamber made of a flexible material, said chamber being sealed at both ends thereof and forming an air cushion, inlet means being provided on one wall of the tube for inlet of air to convert the tube from a first collapsed state to a second inflated state. 2. A tube as claimed in claim 1 wherein the air inlet means is provided on the side-wall of the tube at a position that is equidistant from both ends of the non-continuous chamber. 3. A tube as claimed in claim 1 wherein the air chamber defined by the non-continuous tube is seamless. 4. A tube as claimed in claim 1 wherein the non-continuous tube is sealed off at both ends thereof by means of a closing means in an air tight manner. 5. A novel non-continuous tyre tube for two-wheeled vehicles substantially as described hereinbefore and with reference to the accompanying drawings. |
