METHOD FOR DETECTING YARN RESIDUES ON SPINNING COP TUBES AND APPARATUS THEREFORE.

Abstract A method for detecting yarn residues on spinning cop tubes, comprising the steps of exposing a spinning cop tube to be examined to light, detecting the light reflected by the spinning cop tube, generating picture signals of the spinning cop tube on the basis of the reflected light detected, and evaluating the picture signals generated, in order to assess the presence of yarn residues on the spinning cop tube, characterized in that from the light reflected by the spinning cop tube (6), a two-dimensional picture of the exposed part of the spinning cop tube is generated; that from the picture signals obtained, digital picture data (90) are generated; and that the digital picture data (90) are subjected to an edge filtering, in order to segment the edges, formed in the picture matrix corresponding to the digital picture data (90) by brightness transitions, on the bases of which the presence of yarn residues on the spinning cop tube (6) is assessed.
