Title of Invention

A PORTABLE PERMANENT DEFENSE EQUIPMENT

Abstract The present invention provides a portable permanent defense equipment for providing protection from small arms to rocket propelled grenades comprising: a metallic enclosure of at least 6x6x8 feet, said enclosure has a door at the back side for entrance, and at least three boxes, filled with fire resistant material, fixed on one or more than one sides of said enclosure to protect the person sitting inside the enclosure from enemy fire. at least two firing cum viewing slots on one or more than one side of the enclosure tor viewing the enemy movement. and a metallic roof on the top of the equipment to protect from environment/air dehverv ammunitions fragments.
Full Text This invention relates to a portable permanent defense (PD) equipment for providing protection from small arms to rocket launched mortars (Rl. 84) (an anti tank mortar).
BACKGROUND
At present, army is using concrete and cement bunkers to prepare permanent defense at line of control or borders. These bunkers require long duration for construction and become easy target Tor destruction by enemy during construction stage itself.
In case site of bunker has to be changed / shifted it has to be left as-it is and a new bunker has to be constructed at the new site, which amounts to loss of labour and the money. It also needs annual maintenance to Keep it fit for use.
The object of the instant invention is to provide a portable, permanent defense equipment, which can be commissioned at any location within a short spell of time with possibility of relocation to any other site with the change in threat perception.
Further object of the invention is that the equipment can be easily dismantled and taken to other sites.
The third object of the invention is that the damaged portion of the equipment if any can be repaired by replacement of the damaged panel only.
To achieve said objectives this invention provides a portable permanent defense equipment for providing protection from small arms to rocket launched mortars comprising:
a metallic enclosure of at least 6x6x8 feet, said enclosure has a door at the back side for entrance, and at least three boxes, filled with fire resistant material, fixed on one or more than one sides of said enclosure to protect
the person sitting inside the enclosure from small arms fire
and mortars,
at least two firing cum viewing slots on one or more than
one side of the enclosure for viewing the enemy movement,
and
a metallic roof on the top of the equipment to protect from
environment/fragments of air delivery weapons after auto
burst or otherwise.
The fire resistant material used is alumina compound / bricks, puff / glass wool, silica sand with molasses in the boxes which limits the travel of fire cone of RL 80 mortar upto 450mm.
Three boxes are provided on one or more than one side of said enclosure, the first box is filled with alumina compound / bricks, the second box is filled with puff / glass wool and the third box contains silica sand with molasses as fire resistant material
If there are more than three boxes, the additional box contains any one of the above filling materials.
The said enclosure is made of metallic sheets of at least 2x2 feet having thickness of at least 5 mm, said sheets are connected together by fastening means to form the enclosure.
The said metallic sheets are either bullet proof or mild steel
The said firing cum viewing slots are of at least 9x9 inches having the shutter for closing said slots
The invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings
Figure 1 shows a portable permanent defense equipment according to this invention
etailed description
In figure 1, the enclosure is shown by reference numeral (E). The said enclosure is made of metallic sheets (S) of at least 2x2 feet. The said enclosure has a door (D) at its back. The said enclosure (E) has three boxes (Bl, B2, B3) on three sides. The said enclosure has firing cum viewing slots (VI, V2) on three sides of said enclosure (E). The said firing cum viewing slots (VI, V2) are provided with shutters (not shown). The size of the enclosure varies from 6x6x8 feet to 12x12x10 feet.
The said three boxes Bl, B2, B3 are filled with fire resistant material such as alumina compound / brick in box Bl, puff/ glass wool in box 2 and silica sand with molasses in box B3. The firing cum viewing slots (VI. V2) are of the size 9 x9 inches with shutters.
A metallic roof, shown in figure 2, is provided on the top of the Permanent defense equipment for environment protection and fragments of air delivery ammunitions after hit/auto burst.
The enclosure (E) comprises of metallic frames (not shown) of at least 2x2 feet joined to each other by nuts and bolts. On these frames sheets (S) of at least 2x2 feet having thickness of at least 5 mm are either welded or fixed by nuts and bolts to form three boxes (Bl, B2, B3) on either side or all sides of the enclosure. The said sheets may be of bullet proof.steel or mild steel.
