Title of Invention

METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PRODUCING PURE WATER

Abstract The untreated water, which is contaminated with dissolved organic hydrocarbon compounds, is guided to a bioreactor (2). Here, a substantial proportion of the assimilable TOC is microbially reacted. A heavy metal compound which acts as a toxic biostatic agent is then added by means of a dosing device (6) in order to prevent microbiological growth without oxidation. The final treatment takes place in a reverse osmosis device (8). By series-connecting the bioreaction stage and the biostatic conditioning stage, it is possible to achieve a degree of efficiency of 80 to 90 % for the reduction of assimilable TOC through the synergistic effect of substrate-fed untreated water and biostatic maintenance of sterility and crucially, prevent biofouling in the water.
