Title of Invention

A TRIPLE POLE DOUBLE THROW SAFETY SWITCH WITH ISOLATED GROUND POINT

Abstract Power supply to utilities is currently carried out through a system of switching, wherein the grounding line is not switched-off along with the phase lines~ i.e.~ the grounding line is common for all utilities~ consequent to which this can affect instruments which are otherwise switched-off. In this circuit if one equipment becomes defective. all the equipment in the: circuit are affected. This current practice of two pole switching system is proposed to be upgraded by replacing it with a three pole switching system, particularly in single~phase circuits for safety purposes. In this 'A TRIPLE POLE DOUBLE THROW SAFETY SWITCH WITH ISOLATED GROUND POINT'~ if an equipment becomes faulty~ there is no danger to the person operating other equipment in the circuit. '"fhis is achieved by providing an additional individual earthing to each equipm ent, consequently, a Double Pole switch becom es a Triple Pole Double Throw switch.

This invention "A TRIPLE POLE DOUBLE THROW SAFETY SWITCH
WITH ISOLATED GROUND POINT" is aimed at providing individual earthing to each of the electrical equipment used in the domestic circuit, for safety purpose.
Power supply to utilities is currently carried out through a system of switching, wherein the grounding line is not switched-off along with the phase lines, i.e., the grounding line is common for all utilities, consequent to which this can affect instruments which are otherwise switched-ofT. In this circuit if one equipment becomes defective, all the equipment in the circuit are affected. No equipment in the circuit can be safely operated unless the defect/fault is rectified by checking individually all the equipment in the circuit for any defect. This current practice of two pole switching system is proposed to be upgraded by replacing it with a three pole switching system, particularly in single-phase circuits for safety purposes. In this 'A TRIPLE POLE DOUBLE THROW SAFETY SWITCH WITH ISOLATED GROUND POINT', if an equipment becomes faulty, there is no danger to the person operating other equipment in the circuit. This is achieved by providing an additional individual earthing

to each equipment. The current practice of two pole switching system, as depicted in Figure (1) of the accompanying drawings is proposed to be upgraded by replacing it with a three pole switching system in this invention WA TRIPLE POLE DOUBLE THROW SAFETY SWITCH WITH ISOLATED GROUND POINT*.
In this invention "A TRIPLE POLE DOUBLE THROW SAFETY SWITCH WITH ISOLATED GROUND POINT", the power from the pole through the Meter Board is connected to the ON Side of a Double Pole Double Throw Switch. The OFF side lines are connected to the flexible cables. Through these flexible cables, electrical lines are drawn to as many utilities as needed.
Figure (1) of the accompanying drawings, depicts the typical electrical circuit of the conventional Double Pole Double Throw System, which is presently in vogue. From the figure, it is clear that it is bi-polar, without any provision for individual earthing. F' represents the flexible wires, which is connected to the electrical equipment "H". "G" is the common grounding provided in the Circuit.

Whereas this invention "A TRIPLE POLE DOUBLE THROW SAFETY SWITCH WITH ISOLATED GROUND POINT", as depicted in Figure (2) of the accompanying drawings, illustrates a typical tri-polar switch, comprising of Switch (A), (B) represents the poles for the incoming current from the Mains through the meter , whereas (C) is the outgoing current pole to the Plug or the Electrical Appliance (H). (E) is the Plug Point provided in the Socket (D). (F) represents the Flexible Electrical Cables and (G) the Ground Point. This newly invented 'A TRIPLE POLE DOUBLE THROW SWITCH WITH ISOLATED GROUND POINT', as depicted in Figure (2) shows that an additional pole is provided for exclusive earthing for each equipment it is connected to. In this case, two poles are connected to the phase and the third pole is connected the earth point, which isolates the connected equipment from other faulty equipments, when the switch is switched off. When the electrical utility or equipment is operated through this Triple Pole Double Throw Switch, in the 'OFF' Position, the utility is fully isolated electrically from the other utilities, consequent to which, in case of an individual equipment failure, the problem is confined to that particular equipment alone, as it is in an isolated condition and there is no risk to a person operating another utility/equipment in the same circuit.

I Claim,
1) A TRIPLE POLE DOUBLE THROW SAFETY SWITCH WITH ISOLATED GROUND POINT, having two poles connected to the phase and the neutral, characterized in that, the third pole is connected to earth point, which isolates the connected equipment from other faulty equipment when the switch is switched off.
