Abstract An automatic portable sprayer comprising of: - a container for containing the liquid which is to be sprayed therein, - a reciprocating pump assembly being disposed in a cavity provided at one side of the container, - a dead weight is provided in the cavity having sliding motion, - said dead weight is mounted on the top end of the piston of the pump to set the piston in motion, - up and down motion of said dead weight is guided through guide rails provided on either side of the cavity (3), - a spring is provided around the piston of the pump between the dead weight and the top cover of the cylinder so as to provide an upward movement to said dead weight, - an outlet is provided at one side of said container having one way valve (not shown) at the bottom of the cylinder of the pump assembly, - a one way valve (not shown) is disposed at the outlet provided at the bottom end of the piston of the pump assembly, - an opening is provided on top end of the container along with strips secured with hook.

Field of the Invention
This invention relates to an automatic portable spraying device for use in the
agriculture, horticulture and other fields for spraying purposes
Description of Prior Art
Various types of sprayers, as described below, are known in the art. One of the sprayers is disclosed in the US Pat. No.5014884, which, comprises a spray container having a piston or gear pumps The pump is used to pump the fluid out of the container rather than to pressurize the tank
Another sprayer as disclosed in the U.S. Pat. No. 4,135,669 is a wheeled sprayer with a pressurized liquid reservoir having the spraying means provided therewith.
The US Pat. No. 5,072,884 discloses a garden sprayer comprising an elliptically shaped tank. A manually operable pump is provided with the tank for creating air pressure inside the tank for spraying purposes.
Further US Pat No 5.150,837 discloses a backpack sprayer comprising a tank mounted on a base frame. Pumping means are provided with the tank so as to created air pressure in the tank. Means adapted to be connected with the tank are provided for spraying purposes
US Pat. No 4319699 discloses a portable liquid sprayer comprising a container having pumping means provided therewith. The pumping means has a pair of reciprocating piston pumps: The pistons of the respective pumps are connected to the lever arms through the respective pistons rods. The pistons rods are to be .connected to the thigh bends provided to be fitted around the thighs of the user such that to actuate the pump upon the movement of the user, in order to pressurize the tank. The thigh bends are strapped around moving pan of the body (legs) and the container, secured to the carrier frame of the device, is adapted to be mounted on the back of the user


Disadvantages associated with the prior art
There are disadvantages associated with the prier art. One of these disadvantages is that these sprayers require manual efforts for pumping and therefore user get tired after a little use of the sprayer
Another disadvantage is that conventional sprayers are heavy and complicated in construction and trained operators are required to operate the sprayers.
Yet another disadvantage is that the conventional sprayers are not efficient and a lot of energy is required to operate the sprayer
Still another disadvantage is that the bear and tear in the conventional sprayers is more and frequent maintenance is needed to maintain the sprayers.
Another disadvantage is that both the hands of the user remains engaged and therefore the user can not use the sprayer for a long time
Advantages and Objects of the Invention
Therefore the main objec: of the present invention is to provide an automatic portable spraying device, which obviates the disadvantages associated with the prior art
Another object of the present invention is to provide an automatic portable spraying device, which is of lightweight, simple in construction and very easy to operate.
Yet another object of this invention is to provide an automatic portable sprayer, which can be operated by a person of ordinary skill.
The following description contains many specifics but these should not be construed as limitations on the scope of the invention, rather these specifics are the exemplification of one preferred embodiment thereof and many other variations are possible Accordingly the scope of the invention should not be limited to the

embodiment illustrated, and the alterations and variations may be treated within the spirit and scope of this invention. Statement of invention:
The present invention relates to an automatic portable sprayer comprising of:
- a container for containing the liquid which is to be sprayed therein,
- a reciprocating pump assembly being disposed in a cavity provided at one side of the container,
- a dead weight is provided in the cavity having sliding motion,
- said dead weight is rnounted on the top end of the piston of the pump to set the piston in motion,
- up and down motion of said dead weight is guided through guide rails provided on either side of the cavity (3),
- a spring is provided around the piston pf the pump between the dead weight and the top cover of the cylinder so as to provide an upward movement to said dead weight,
- an outlet is provided at one side of said container having one way valve (not shown) at the bottom of the cylinder of the pump assembly,
- a one way valve (not shown) is disposed at the outlet provided at the bottom end of the piston of the pump assembly,
- an opening is provided on top end of the container along with strips secured with hook.
Brief Description of the Invention
In accordance with this invention, the sprayer has a container for storing the liquid material therein A cavity depression is provided at one side of the container for accommodating a piston cylinder assembly provided for producing cbmpressed air to be supplied into the container. A spring-loaded weight is secured at the top end of the piston of the piston cylinder assembly for providing up and down movement thereto. Guide rails are provided on either sides of the cavity for guiding the up and down movement of the spring loaded weight. The spring is provided between the top end of the cylinder and the bottom end of the weight around said piston for facilitating the upward movement of the light against the gravitational force. The bottom end of the cylinder assembly has an outlet such that to be connected with the container for facilitating the supply of compressed air into the container. A one way valve is disposed in the said outlet such that to allow the passage of the compressed air into the container but to stop the entry of air and water from the container into the assembly.
An outlet is provided near the bottom end of the container for supplying the liquid material to the liquid spraying means consisting of a conveying pipe having a conventional spraying means provided at the other end thereof. Means are provided


with the container to hold the same at the back of the user during the spraying operation
According to an option, the piston cylinder assembly is disposed in the container and is secured with the cover of the container such that the piston of the piston-cylinder assemblv remains outside the cover of the container The weight is secured at the top end of the piston A spr ng is provided between the cover of the container and the weight, around the piston Guiding rods are provided on either sides of the piston for guiding the up and down movement of the weight
Detailed Description of the Invention
An automatic portable sprayer according to a preferred embodiment of this invention is here in described and illustrated in the accompanying drawing wherein;

Fig. 3 - shows the perspective view of the apparatus, according to another option
Fig 4 - shows the exploded view of the apparatus of fig.3.
Referring to the drawing particularly fig.l an automatic portable sprayer has a container (1) for containing the liquid therein. A reciprocating pump assembly (2) is disposed in the cavity (3) provided on one side of the container (1) for pumping the air into the container (1). A dead weight (4) (fig.2) is mounted on the top end of the piston (5) of the pump such that to actuate the piston (5) on the movement of the user, in order to create pressure in the container for facilitating the spraying of the contents. The weight (4) is provided slidably in the cavity (3). Guides (6) are provided on either sides of the cavity (3) for guiding the up and down movement of the weight (4). A spring (7) is provided around the piston (5) of the pump (2) between the weight (4) and the top cover (8) of the cylinder (9), so as to provide an upward movement to the weight (4) A one way valve (not shown) is disposed in the outlet provided at the


bottom end of the cylinder of the pump assembly (2) such that the liquid contained in the container do not touch the valve even during the use of the sprayer An outlet is provided near the botiorn end of the container (1) for facilitating the supply of the liquid to the conventional spraying means (10) secured with the outlet An opening (44) is provided on lop end of the container (i) for filling the liquid into the container Strips (12) are secured to the hooks (13) provided on both the sides of the container (1) for facilitating the hanging of the apparatus on the back of the user
According to an option and as shown in fig.3. the automatic sprayer has a pump assembly 2 mounted on the cover (14) of the container (1), such that to provide the compressed air into the container (1). The construction of the pump is the same, except the positioning of the pump In this case and as mentioned herein above the pump is mounted on the top of the cover (14). Further, a pair of guides (15) are provided (fig.4) is provided on the top of the cover (14) of the container for guiding the up and down movement of the weight (4) Rest of the construction of the sprayer is the same as that of the sprayer of fig. 1 The pump shown in the drawing is a single acting pump There of course a double acting pump can be used. The pump may be replaceable so that different pumps providing different flow rates or pressures may be mounted as desired.
During the operation of the pump, the user fills up the liquid to be sprayed in the container and hold the device on his back and start moving. The weight stans swinging up and down and the pump is actuated. After a short tirne, air pressure is created in the container and the liquid starts coming out from the spraying means hold by the user in one hand and thus the spraying operation is started.


We claim:
1 An automatic portable sprayer comprising of:
- a container for containing the liquid which is to be sprayed therein,
- a reciprocating pump assembly being disposed in a cavity provided at one side of the container,
- a dead weight is provided in the cavity having sliding motion,
- said dead weight is mounted on the top end of the piston of the pump to set the piston in motion,
- up and down motion of said dead weight is guided through guide rails provided on either side of the cavity (3),
- a spring is provided around the piston of the pump between the dead weight and the top cover of the cylinder so as to provide an upward movement to said dead weight,
- an outlet is provided at one side of said container having one way valve (not shown) at the bottom of the cylinder of the pump assembly,
- a one way valve (not shown) is disposed at the outlet provided at the bottom end of the piston of the pump assembly,
- an opening is provided on top end of the container along with strips secured with hook.

2. An automatic sprayer as claimed in claim 1 wherein the said pump assembly consisting of cylinder with a piston having a sliding motion, mounted with a dead weight along with a spring facilitating the up and down motion of the piston produced due to the motion of the user against the gravitational force acting on the users body.
3. An automatic sprayer as claimed in claim 2 wherein the up and down motion of the piston is generated from elongation of the spring due to the motion of the weight attached on the top end of the piston.
4. An automatic sprayer as claimed in claim 1 wherein said guides are provided on the top of the cover of said container and on either sides of said cavity.
5. An automatic portable sprayer substantially as herein described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
