COMPLETE SPECIFICATION
SECTION 10
'A slider loading device for zipper assembly'
Ashok CHATURVEDI, an Indian national of 118-119, Damji Shamji Udyog Bhawan, 1st Floor, 25A, Veera Desai Road, Andheri (West), Mumbai - 400 053, Maharashtra, India
The following specification particularly describes and ascertains the nature of this invention and the manner in which it is to be performed:

This invention relates to a slider loading device for zipper assembly.
BACKGROUND
Normally, the sliders are loaded on zippers by hand. They can also be loaded with an escapement mechanism consisting of a slider holder, a threader or slider finger and a restraining finger. The slider holder is designed to be compatible with an assembly of sliders or individual slider. The channel of the slider holder includes an open top and open bottom. The slider holder is preferably designed to allow one slider at a time to be placed in a primary notch of the zipper. The zipper may be pushed or pulled through the escapement mechanism. The slider may be placed in the notches by gravity and driven mechanically or electro-mechanically and the zipper continues to move forward through the escapement mechanism.
The object of this invention is to provide a slider loading device for zipper assembly for loading the slider on stationary zipper assembly at any length of the zipper. The said loading device can be provided on Pouching Machine or on Form Fill and Seal Machine.
To achieve the said objectives, this invention provides a slider loading device
for zipper assembly comprising:
vertical magazine for storing and aligning the sliders, pneumatically operated plunger mounted close to the bottom of said vertical magazine for pushing the slider at the bottom of said vertical magazine to the guide rails provided close to said vertical magazine, characterized in that,
a pneumatically operated gripper is mounted on a pneumatically operated rotary arm for gripping the slider on to the rails and moving and rotating the slider till the end of the rails for spreading
2

the arms of the slider for loading the slider on to the zipper moving through a guide strip exposed to the slider at the end of the rail.
The gap between said rails is less at the beginning and gradually increases at the other end for spreading the arms of the slider.
The storing and aligning the sliders in the vertical magazine is carried out either by hand or by vibratory bowl feeder.
The said device is mounted either on a Pouch-making Machine or Form Fill and Seal Machine.
The invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing:
Figure 1 shows the isometric view of the slider loading device on right hand and left hand side on a base plate.
Figure 2 shows the known vibratory bowl feeder.
Figures 3a and 3b shows the sli4er, according to this invention.
Referring to the drawings (1) shows the vertical magazine for storing and aligning the sliders, pneumatically operated plunger (2) is mounted close to the bottom of said vertical magazine (1) for pushing the slider at the bottom of said vertical magazine. The said plunger is operated by a pneumatic cylinder (3), which is mounted on the base plate (4) through a bracket (5). Guide rails (6) are provided close to said vertical magazine on the base plate through bracket assembly (7). The gap of the rails at the beginning is less and gradually
3

increases towards the end 6(b) for spreading the slider arms to load the slider on the zipper assembly easily. A pneumatically operated gripper (8) is mounted on a pneumatically operated rotary arm (9) for gripping the slider (S) on the rails (6) and rotating the slider (S) till the end of the rails for spreading the arms of the slider to facilitate the loading of me slider on to the zipper moving through a guide strip (10) exposed to the slider (S) at the end of the rail (6). The storing and aligning the sliders in the vertical magazine is carried out either by hand or by vibratory bowl feeder, shown in figure 2.
Vibratory bowl feeder (B) consists of a bowl having grooves (g) inside. These grooves (g) have width equal to the width of the slider shown in figures 3a, 3b. A track (T) facilitates transportation of slider (S) to the vertical magazine (1), shown in figure 1. When the vibratory bowl feeder vibrates, it accommodates sliders in the grooves (g) and pass on to the track (T) for feeding and aligning into vertical magazine (1).
The slider shown in figures 3 a and 3b has top (T) with curve arms (CS), backside (BS) and central arm (CA). The slider can be of different designs and shape.
WORKING:
Sliders (S) are stored in vertical magazine (1) by hand or by vibratory bowl feeder. The plunger (2) is pneumatically operated by the cylinder (3) and pushes the slider at the bottom of the vertical magazine (1) to the guide rails (6). The pneumatically operated gripper (8) grips the slider on to the rails (6) by actuation of rotary arm (9), the slider moves along the rails from beginning to end portion (6b) of rails (6) to spread the arms of the slider for facilitating the loading of the slider onto the zipper assembly at any length.

I claim:
1. A slider loading device for zipper assembly comprising:
vertical magazine for storing and aligning the sliders, pneumatically operated plunger mounted close to the bottom of said vertical magazine for pushing the slider at the bottom of said vertical magazine to the guide rails provided close to said vertical magazine, characterized in that,
a pneumatically operated gripper, mounted on a pneumatically operated rotary arm for gripping the slider on to the rails and moving and rotating the slider till the end of the rails for spreading the arms of the slider for loading the slider on to the zipper moving through a guide strip exposed to the slider at the end of the rail.
2. A slider loading device for zipper assembly as claimed in claim 1 wherein the gap between said rails is less at the beginning and gradually increases at the other end for spreading the arms of the slider.
3. A slider loading device for zipper assembly as claimed in claim 1 wherein storing and aligning the sliders in the vertical magazine is carried out either by hand or by vibratory bowl feeder.
4. \ A slider loading device for zipper assembly as claimed in claim 3 wherein
said sliders can be of any design and shape.
5. A slider loading device for zipper assembly as claimed in claim 1 wherein
said device is mounted either on a Pouch-making Machine or Form Fill
and Seal Machine.
5

A slider loading device for zipper assembly substantially as herein described with reference to and as illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
