A PROTECTIVE CAPS FOR FLANGES

Abstract A protective cap for flange having inner circular portion with four projections spaced at right angle having inwardly extending projections which fit into matching grooves provided on the flange; a circular cap covers the inner projected circular portion of the flange thereby preventing damage to the flange; the protective cap are rigidly secured by opposing inbuilt cap member by injection moulding or welding so that the permanent seal is broke open by tearing the sealed portion. A protective cap as claimed in claim 1 wherein the caps aremade from any resilient material preferably plastic. A protective cap as claimed in claim 1 wherein the outer protective caps having four projections is sealed from the other end. A protective cap as claimed in claim 1 wherein the inner plastic cap surrounding the extended, pipe member is connected with outer cap member by welding so as to make both side protective caps sealed to one another to make break open seal. A PROCTECTIVE CAPS FOR FLANGES
The invention relates to a protective caps for flanges. More particularly the invention relates to a protective caps for the flanges to protect vital areas like bevel and raised faces from any type of damages.
The conventional system a protective measures used to wrap abro tapes on raised faces and bevel ends of the flange and than it is packed in polythene bag. We found that disadvantages of the system
-to
(1) it is time consuming porcess wrap the tape in all the
flanges.
(2) sticky gum in the tapeis entrapped in the serrated area
of the flange.
Flanges are mainly used in pipelines and in a flange it is necessary to protect vital areas like bevel and raised face from any type of damages therefore an appropriate protective and packing systems are needed.
The principal object of this invention is therefore to provide a
protective caps to ellaninate the damages of bevel and raised

faces of flange.
The another object of this invention is to provide a protective caps which can be made economically and fitted on the flange manually or by machine.

Accordingly there is provided a protective caps (1) made from any-material preferrably plastic having inner circular (2) portion(2)
with four projections (3) spaced at right angle having inwardly
gloves extended projections (4) which will fit into the matching
(5) provided on the metal flange; similarly a plastic circular
cap covers the inner projected circular portion of the flange
(6), thereby preventing damages to the flange; the protective
caps are rigidly secured by opposing in-built cap members by
injection moulding/we lding so that the permanent sealed can be
break open by tear ing the sealed portion.
The invention will now be described with reference to figure 1 and 2 in the accompanying drawing.
Fig. 1 is the prospective view of the protective cap wherein the elements are shown seperately.
Fig. 2 is a sectional view of the protective cap.
Referring to fig. 1 and 2 the stainless steel flange with outer circular portion and inner extended circular portion having grooves on the flange (4) spaced at right angle which has been given a protective cap for the protection of vital areas like bevel and raised face from any type of damages comprising' a single piece plastic protective cap (1) having a inner circular portion (2) and four extended portions spaced at right angle with inner extended projections (3) to fit into the matching groups provided in the flange in a snap fit manner and a circular cap which covers the circular portion of the inner extended flange which can be pressed fit inside or it can be sealed by welding

with inner and outer caps with four plug member the seal is broke open by tearing the sealed portion before use which makes the flange protective as well as pilfer proof.
The protective caps are used to avoid any damage to bevel and raised faces of the flange. The flange with central pipe section is prevented from damage by packaging the flange from both the side by plastic caps which is fitted in the snap fit or sealed manner. The pipe portion of the flange is surrounded by cap member which is fitted by push fit manner or by sealing with outer protective caps.
This is an embodiment of the invention. Several modification are possible may be considered within the ambit and spirit of this invention. Since many modifications, variations and changes in detail may be made to the above described embodiments, it is intended that all matters described in the foregoing description as described in the accompanying specification.

WE CLAIM:
A protective cap for flange having inner circular portion with four projections spaced at right angle having inwardly extending projections which fit into matching grooves provided on the flange; a circular cap covers the inner projected circular portion of the flange thereby preventing damage to the flange; the protective cap are rigidly secured by opposing inbuilt cap member by injection moulding or welding so that the permanent seal is broke open by tearing the sealed portion.
A protective cap as claimed in claim 1 wherein the caps are made from any resilient material preferably plastic.
A protective cap as claimed in claim 1 wherein the outer protective caps having four projections is sealed from the
other end.

A protective cap as claimed in claim 1 wherein the inner plastic cap surrounding the extended, pipe member is connected with outer cap member by welding so as to make both side protective caps sealed to one another to make break open seal.
A protective cap as claimed in claim 1 wherein—te-te^ substantially as herein described with reference to figure 1 and figure 2 of the accompanying drawings.
