Title of Invention

ADDITIVES COMPOSITION FOR PETROLEUM FUEL

Abstract A additive composition for petroleum fuel consisting essentially of 5 - 15 % by volume of the total composition of a coupling agent consisting of non- hydroxy fatty acid and an organic ester component selected from the group consisting of C1O - C20 alkyl esters of fatty acids selected from the group consisting of oleic acid, tallow fatty acid and coconut fatty acid and mixtures wherein the fatty acid in the ester of a fatty acid is derived from natural oils and fats or synthetic oils or any mixtures thereof;

THE FOLLOWING SPECIFICATION PARTICULARLY DESCRIBES AND ASCERTAINS THE NATURE OF THE INVENTION AND THE MANNER IN WHICH IT IS TO BE PERFORMEDTECHNICAL FIELD :

ORIGINAL

FIELD OF INVENTION :
This invention relates to fuel additive compositions for Petroleum fuels. The additives incorporate higher alcohols, fatty acids and /or organic esters.
BACKGROUND TO THE INVENTION
Diesel oil, due to its cost and availability, continues to be the backbone for industry around the world being the principal fuel for use in trucks, taxies, buses, ships, trains, some cars and other automotive equipment and different stationary types of engines. In this respect, it is well recognized that any commercially acceptable diesel or petrol fuel must be capable of performing over a range of prevailing climatic conditions.
It is also well recognized that the combustion of diesel / petrol in engines can be hazardous to the environment; In particular, the partial combustion of fuel to carbon, carbon monoxide, and nitrogen oxides creates noxious black exhaust gases which are pollutants. This problem is particularly observable in trucks and other automotive vehicles where noxious black exhaust gases can be seen being released into the environment. Attempts have been made over the years to address the environmental concerns associated with exhaust fumes from engines by using alcohols such as methanol ( methyl alcohol) or ethanol ( ethyl alcohol) as fuels.
In recent years, the concept of being bio diesel (methyl ester of fatty acids) has caught on. The same purpose can also be served by the use of fuel additives which provide oxygenation of the fuel.
OBJECTIVE OF THE INVENTION
The main objective of the invention is to give the long life of the engine
Further objective of the invention is to remove the pollution due to noxious black exhaust gases of the engine
The next objective of the invention is to reduce the maintenance cost of the engine by ensuring complete combustion of fuel. This results in decreased carbon deposition. Hence the engine requires overhauling less frequently.

Accordingly present invention provides A fuel additive composition consisting essentially of 5 - 15 % by volume ( of the total composition), a coupling 'agent consisting of non- hydroxy fatty acid and an organic ester component with C10 - C20 carbon atoms made from of fatty acids selected from the group consisting of oleic acid, tallow fatty acids, coconut fatty acids and mixtures thereof wherein the fatty acid is derived from natural oils and / or fats or synthetic oils or any mixtures thereof
DETAIL DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
According to the first embodiment of the invention, a fuel composition is provided comprising: a non- hydroxy fatty acids and organic esters and higher alcohol with a 10-20 carbon atoms.
In one embodiment of the invention, the fatty acids and organic esters component is between about 80 % and about 20 % by volume, In another embodiment of the invention, the fatty acids and organic esters component is between about 90 % and about 10 % by volume.
The fatty acid is derived preferably from natural oils and fats or synthetic oils or any mixtures thereof such as lard, tallow and vegetable oils, for example, palm, com, sunflower and soya bean oils or from specific blends commercially produced by fatty acid

manufacturers or from fatty acids made by synthetic means or mixtures thereof. For those skilled in the art, this is understood to mean the commercially available fatty acids.
The organic ester component is selected preferably from fatty esters, such as ethyl oleate, ethyl tallowate, iso-propyl oleate, butyl oleate, methyl oleate or methyl cocoate or cetyl palmitate, cetyl oleate etc or mixtures thereof.
Additives miscible with a hydrocarbon having following constituents
a) Methyl oleate 24
b) Cetyl alcohol 05
c) Cetyl palmitate 08
d) Palmitic acid 10
e) Behenic acid 10
f) Cetyl oleate 20
g) Methyl ester of cocofatty acid 23
When the composition is added to diesel fuel. It is observed that engine performance improves considerably lowering the carbon

monoxide in the exhaust. No deposition of carbon in cylinder and exhaust of engine is found. The engine worked more smoothly which resulted in reduction in maintenance cost.
