Title of Invention | A LOCK-NUT WASHER WITH METERING-HOLE |
---|---|
Abstract | A lock-nut washer with metering-hole is provided with a plurality of holes through which the fasteners are tightened over the outer flat surface of any known camshaft driven sprocket and camshaft; and a hole or a plurality thereof which is are respectively concentric to a hole or its plurality of said camshaft and with a small predetermined size so as to ensure the flow of lubrication-oil from the said hole or its plurality of the said camshaft and only through the said metering hole. |
Full Text | surface 6. The shape and size of said lock-nut washer 1 is protruded by a portion IB towards the known central axial through-hole 7A of said camshaft 7 and so enough as to cover the said hole 7A of camshaft 7. The said lock-nut washer 1 is provided with a metering-hole IC particularly on the said protruded portion IB thereof. "The said metering-hole IC is concentric to said central axial through-hole 7A of camshaft 7 so as to ensure the flow of lubrication-oil from the said hole 7A of said camshaft 7 and only through the said metering-hole IC and to regulate the flow-rate of the lubrication-oil. Thus the above said lock-nut washer 1 is employed by using one common part for the said two separate functions results in lower weight, lower cost and shorter serviceability. In another preferred embodiment of this invention, the lock-nut washer 1 is fastened radially away from the axis of said camshaft 7 by the known for the cost effective and reliable design with meeting the required torque carrying capacity. In that case, the said part IB of lock-nut washer 1 is protruded longer up to the axis of camshaft 7 results in higher weight and cost. According to this invention, the hole 7A is made eccentric to the axis of said camshaft 7 wherein the said protruded part IB of said lock-nut washer 1 is with small size results in significantly lighter weight and lower cost. In a third preferred embodiment of this invention, the said hole 7A of said camshaft 7 is inclined to the axis of said camshaft 7 and in a plane passing along the axis of said camshaft 7 so as to open the end of said hole 7A on the end flat surface of said camshaft 7 or integrate with a new hole on said outer flat surface 4 of said camshaft-driven sprocket 5. This still reduces the weight and cost of said lock-nut washer 1 rather than the above said second preferred embodiment. In a fourth preferred embodiment of this invention, the said hole 7A of camshaft 7 and said metering-hole IC of said lock-nut 1 explained in the second and third preferred embodiments, are provided in its plurality so as to easily meet the fine controllability of lubrication-oil metering. The terms and expressions used herein are illustrative and not limitative in any sense. |
