Abstract | Abstract of the Invention: " Double stroke mechanism" is commonly used for measuring cotton maturity value. This invention makes the double stroke easy, accurate, trouble free and long life tor components.Double stroke mechanism is used to compress the cotton in cotton chamber and measure the pressure of known air flow in two stage of compression. This invention contain two pneumatic cylinders and it is arranged in perpendicular manner, to interfier the stroke of one cylinder by another cylinder to achieve "Double Stroke'. |
Full Text | Summary of the Invention: The present invention relates to a " Double Stroke mechanism for cotton maturity testing instruments by Twin Pneumatic cylinders and Distance piece arrangement". This Maturity Testing Instalment is used to measure the maturity value of cotton fibres. This invention provides a Double Stroke Mechanism with the combination of two pneumatic cylinders and its arrangements. With this arrangement Maturity values of cotton fibres is measured in Maturity Testing Instalments. This invention is invented to simplify and to over come difficulties which arise from conventional methods. Disadvantages of conventional design of Double Stroke mechanism in Maturity Testing Instruments; 1. Design is very complicative and manufacturing cost is high due to number of components used in it. 2. Frequently repair and services needed. 3. Poor repeatedly of test value. Brief Description of Drawing: The invention will be explained in more detail below with aid of an exemplary embodiment illustrated in drawings, wherein Fig 1 Shows the isometric view of cotton assembly with Twin Pneumatic cylinder assembly. Fig 2 Shows the isometric view of pneumatic cylinder(1) & pneumatic cylinder(2) in First Stroke position. Fig 3 Shows the isometric view of pneumatic cylinder (1) & pneumatic cylinder (2) in Second Stroke position. Detailed Description of Invention: The principle objective of the present invention is to overcome the above mentioned difficulties and disadvantages by introducing a double stroke from the two pneumatic cylinders in the cotton maturity testing instruments. While testing maturity.cotton is loaded in round chamber called as Cotton chamber (8). An embodiment of this is described here in after with reference to accompanying drawings in fig-1 showing new invention arrangement, in the double stroke mechanism by two pneumatic cylinders. In this invention the top of the pneumatic cylinder(1) is mounted at the bottom of the cotton chamber (8). The pneumatic cylinder (1) contains piston rod (3) extending at both sides i.e at the top and bottom. The top of the piston rod (3) is fitted with cotton chamber pistons (4). At the bottom of the pneumatic cylinder (1), piston rod (3A) is fitted with the stopper piece (5). The L - angle bracket (6) is mounted on the bottom of the pneumatic cylinder (1) ref fig no.1 The piston rod (3) of pneumatic cylinder (1) is a hollow tube to connect the compressed air (12) supply at the bottom of the cotton chamber piston (4). The cotton chamber piston (4) is designed in such a way to pass the compressed air (12) uniformly to all the area by its top surface. The lid (7) is designed in such a way hold cotton while compressing but at the same time it will freely allow the air, which is supplied through the piston rod (3) and cotton chamber piston (4). Ref fig 2 the piston rod (10) of pneumatic cylinder (2) is fitted with a "distance piece" (9) to maintain the distance of the first and second stroke length. The distance piece (9) slides in the L - angle bracket (6) while activating pneumatic cylinder (2). On the other side of L - angle bracket (6), pneumatic cylinder (2) is mounted in such a way that both pneumatic cylinders piston axis will be perpendicular to each other. Fig-1 indicates the initial positron of the double stroke mechanism while starting. The piston rod of pneumatic cylinder (1) and (2) is at Bottom end position. After placing the cotton in the cotton chamber (8) the top lid (7) should be closed and locked manually. Now pneumatic cylinder (2) will be operated by a solenoid valve. The distance piece (9) mounted on the piston rod (10) slides on the bottom of the L-angle bracket (6). Immediately or within few seconds the pneumatic cylinder-(1) will operate, due to the distance piece (9) in between the L - angle bracket (6) and stopper piece (5), the first stroke length will be controlled. This first stroke position is called as Pressure Low (PL) position refer fig - 2. In this Pressure Low (PL) position as in fig - 2, the known constant pressure of air is passed through compressed cotton in the cotton chamber (8). The difference in pressure measured at cotton chamber (8) and atmospheric pressure is called as PL value. After measuring the PL value the piston rod (3) of pneumatic cylinder (1) will be released to its origii position of bottom end. Immediately or within few seconds the pneumatic cylinder (2) will activate to its original position of bottom end. After pneumatic cylinder (2) reaches its bottom end, pneumatic cylinder (1) will activate again and it will compress the cotton further deeper, due to release of the distance piece (9) .The stroke of the pneumatic cylinder (1) will increase further to height (H2) of distance piece (9). This second stroke position is called as Pressure High (PH) position refer fig - 3. At this stage again a known constant pressure of compressed air (12) will pass through cotton and the difference of pressure measured is known as PH value. After measuring the PH value pneumatic cylinder (1) will activate and move to its bottom end as in fig - 1.Due to the introduction of distance piece (9) the pneumatic cylinder (1)'s single stroke is actively controlled as two stroke. I Claim: 1. "Double stroke mechanism for cotton maturity testing instruments by twin pneumatic cylinders and Distance piece arrangement consists of; a pneumatic cylinder;(1)mounted at the bottom of a cotton chamber(8),the pneumatic cylinder (1) having a hollow piston rod (3),extended at both sides.the top of the hollow piston rod(3) fitted with a cotton chamber piston (4),the bottom of the hollow piston rod (3A) fitted with a stopper piece(5); an L-angle bracket (6) mounted with pneumatic cylinder(1) on one side and a pneumatk; cylinder (2) on other side; a distance piece(9) fitted on a piston rod (10) of the pneumatic cylinder(2); wherein the mechanism has the following steps; a) the piston rod (10) of the pneumatic cylinder (2) canies the distance piece(9) forward to fit inbetween the L-angle bracket (6) and stopper piece (5); b) the pneumatic cylinder(1) operates by moving the stopper piece(5);so as to move cotton chamber piston (4), and then the distance piece{9) restricts the full stroke length to get a first stroke position(PL); c)then the pneumatic cylinder (1) operates to move the stopper piece (5) back to its original position; meanwhile the pneumatic cylinder (2) retracts the distance piece (9); d) then the pneumatic cylinder (1) operates to move the stopper piece(5) forward upto the L-angle bracket (6);which completes a second and full stroke position (PH) of the mechanism. 2. "Double stroke mechanism for cotton maturity testing instruments by twin pneumatfc cylinders and distance piece an^angement" as claimed in claim 1,wherein the height of distance piece (9) directly controls ttie stroke length of the pneumatic cylinder(1),i,e. the difference between the stroke lengths.of the first stroke position (PL) and second stroke (PH) is equal to the distance piece (9) height. |
