Title of Invention

A FLAT ZONE ASSEMBLY FOR A CARDING MACHINE

Abstract The invention relates to a flat zone assembly for carding machine. It comprises a flat zone (1) of modular construction consisting of plurality of flats (2). The flat zone is provided with hinges (3) at the rear end which are fixed on to the cylinder side frames on the left hand side and right hand side. A detachable flat holding plate (5) is provide for holding the flats in position during Ming the assembly. A lifting lever (6) and support brackets (8) are fixed to the frame (7) of the carding machine and locking bolts (4) are provided at front and rear of the flat zone (1) for fixing the flat assembly on to the carding machine.
Full Text

The invention relates to a flat zone assembly for carding machine.
Conventional carding machine uses 60 to 112 flats around the cylinder in a flat zone. Clothing, grinding, stripping and reclothing of the cylinder requires dismantling the entire flat zone. This is quite time consuming and laborious.
The invention provides a flat zone assembly of a modular construction. The entire flat zone assembly is hinged at the rear end on the cylinder side frames. The flats are driven by a belt drive attached to the cylinder drive. The flat zone can be easily isolated by lifting the assembly by removing the belt drive. The clothing, grinding, stripping and reclothing of the cylinder can be done without dismantling the flat assembly.
Thus the invention provides a flat zone assembly for carding machine
comprising a flat zone of modular construction consisting of plurality of flats,
characterized in that the said flat zone being provided with hinges at the rear
end which are fixed on to the cylinder side frames on the left hand side and right
hand side, a detachable flat holding plate for holding the flats in position

during lifting the assembly, a lifting lever and support brackets fixed to the frame of the carding machine and locking bolts at front and rear of the flat zone for fixing the flat assembly on to the carding machine.
Preferably the lifting lever is connected through a connecting traverse for uniform lifting of the flat zone.
With reference to the accompanying drawings :
Fig. 1 shows the flat assembly according to the invention on carding cylinder in a working position and
Fig. 2 shows the flat assembly in a lifted position.
The flat assembly according to the invention comprises a flat zone (1) of a modular construction consisting plurality of flats (2). The flat zone
(4) are provided at front and rear for fixing the flat assembly on to the carding machine. The lifting lever (6) is preferably connected through a connecting traverse (9) for uniform lifting of the flat zone. The drive for the flat movement is provided by a belt from the cylinder to the flat zone. The flat assembly according to the invention makes it possible for isolating the flat zone without dismantling the flats during cylinder regrinding, stripping and reclothing of cylinder wire.

WE CLAIM :
1. A flat zone assembly for carding machine comprising a flat zone (1) of
modular construction consisting of plurality of flats (2), characterized in that the
said flat zone being provided with hinges (3) at the rear end which are fixed on
to the cylinder side frames on the left hand side and right hand side, a
detachable flat holding plate (5) for holding the flats in position during lifting
the assembly, a lifting lever (6) and support brackets (8) fixed to the frame (7)
of the carding machine and locking bolts (4) at front and rear of the flat zone (1)
for fixing the flat assembly on to the carding machine.
2. The flat zone assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein the lifting lever (6)
is connected through a connecting traverse (9) for uniform lifting.
3. A flat zone assembly for carding machine, substantially as hereinabove
described and illustrated with reference to the accompanying drawings.
